  1. I haven't ate any frozen meals. I would imagine it's fine. I would just take a look at the nutrition to make sure it's not too high in carbs or sodium
  2. I told my family and a handful of close friends, that's it. As I have started to lose weight and people are noticing, if they complement me, I tend to tell them. If they care enough to stop and tell me they see I lost weight and look good, I'll explain. And I've gotten very supportive responses. The biggest thing I've found is people are uneducated. They are curious how it works, there's nothing wrong with that. You have plenty of time, don't feel rushed to tell anyone just yet if you aren't ready
  3. Trust me, you won't drink too much. You want to stay hydrated, that will help you heal faster. Hang in there and welcome to the wls family
  4. I know it's frightening, I was pre-op , not that long ago. But if you follow the rules you will do great. Hair loss worries my a little too, I haven't noticed it yet, but alot of people have that issue unfortunately. I've been stressing about alot of stuff with surgery as of late, and now that I'm seeing real results I've decided that it doesn't matter. Loose skin and hair loss are so worth it in my book right now. I just want to be healthier and feel better about myself. Eye on the prize, it's all worth it in the end.
  5. way to go, pre-op is the worst part in my opinion! Post surgery I haven't had any cravings really. The liquid diet stuff sucks, no pretending there. But I can eat most anything now and I have no interest in sweets. I tried a bite of something once or twice (hey, we all make mistakes) but it's too sweet to me now, I felt like I'd get sick. As for steak, I definitely hope I can eat that once again, lol. Right now it's way too tough.
  6. I mean, adding powder can change the texture a bit, yes. Unfortunately I think it's something we have to get used to. I buy Now Sports whey protein isolate on amazon, and I don't really notice a gritty taste as long as I mix it really good.
  7. Have you tried adding plain Protein powder to the foods? You could add it to a Soup or casserole. Really , you can add it to almost anything. recipes.html?m=1" rel="external nofollow">http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/p/favorite-recipes.html?m=1 This website had a lot of recipe ideas. And as much as it sucks, you should keep trying with meat, maybe once a week try a meal with meat. Fish and chicken are your best bet, I'm sure lots of others have told you this already good luck
  8. Working out really helps me. But I need to get out of the house. Maybe go for a walk? I like to completely leave so sometimes I'll go to the gym. It helps to get as far away from food as possible when feeling that way. I also have kept one outfit from my high weight. It's honestly alot of inspiration to me when I try it on and see what's already changed. And that helps me refocus on why I'm doing this. Hang in there! You can do this, and you deserve it. Losing weight brings on alot of emotions including stress. We have to work through it, but it's so going to be worth it when we hit of goals
  9. It amazes me how many of us have had friendships change or gone because we decided to have wls. I told a handful of friends, not all. My best friend has always been overweight just like me. We're still friends, but I know she judges the surgery and thinks it's the easy way. I'm not looking for complements or to talk about surgery all the time, but it would be nice if she was more supportive. On the other hand I have a friend at work that I told, this man is super fit, very thin, very active etc. He is the most supportive person in my life other than my boyfriend. Has commented multiple times on how I looked, asks how I'm doing, called and texted to get updates on how I was doing the entire day of my surgery. Has been a great person to talk to, and supported me when I've had our coworkers make comments against surgery. I guess I'm the judgemental one, I assumed someone very fit would judge surgery more than someone who can relate to my weight struggles. Oops lol
  10. I read this nonsense over again. And the more I think about it the more it was just too perfect a story. This had to be complete bullshit and made up. Definitly some sort of spam or trolling. How pathetic.
  11. I'm sorry, but what a b****. Mad you're being a baby! It's NOT being a baby wanting to tell people yourself. It's your business. She absolutely said it implying it was the easy way. I'm sorry you have to work with a rude person.
  12. You should be excited! This is a great opportunity to make yourself healthier and happier. It's tough when you don't have the support you want from friends or family, but that's why support groups like this exist. Congrats to making the decision! We're all here for you.
  13. lmao you beat me to the glutton comment
  14. Huh. Maybe I've been blocked then lol
  15. Looks like Chuck is no longer a member of the site. Glad to see him gone.
  16. way to go!!!! That's awesome checking out these results is such a good pick me up
  17. I have not had that happened, but oh my gosh I'm so sorry people are so rude! People are so shallow. Last I checked love was about more than I size. At least it is in my book!
  18. That's very rude!!! It was not your coworkers place to answer, and blurting it out like that, they had to know you wouldn't like that. If it's a coworker you are close with I would mention that you didn't like it. Maybe they need a little reminder in manners.
  19. Hang in there! It's going to get better soon. You can do it
  20. I thought of another one (gosh this makes me sound like I have so many peeves... I really don't think I do!). I had someone tell me "I think wls is great, I just think people need to diet and exercise first". It amazes me how many people think that this is easy and that if you get wls yoy didn't try anything else first
  21. that has been my biggest concern. Mind you, I have awhile to go until I'm thin. But I have some coworkers that I'm afraid will start trying to be more social once I'm not overweight. :-/
  22. I think it's awesome that you lost the weight on your own, and maintaining for 4 years shows alot of dedication, so you're clearly on the right track to keep the weight off long term. I guess my only concern is, your posts are making me feel criticized for having surgery. Like many others on this site, I tried to lose weight before. I counted calories and worked out. I've been very active my entire life, but have always been heavy. While I know I haven't made all the right choices, I certainly haven't been sitting around stuffing twinkies down my throat my entire life also. There's nothing wrong with promoting a healthy lifestyle of wholesome foods and exercise, but coming to a wls support group where most of us have already had surgery, and basically telling it was a bad idea is pretty rude. The only thing worse than being insulted for being overweight, is being insulted for trying to fix it! It's great to tell your story to people, there are tons who can benefit from it, but I don't think this is the right venue.
  23. ... confused how that happened... I was responding to you @@Elode ...
  24. my grandma does that. I eat at specific times of the day, and then she'd tell me to eat something an hour later. And even if I said I was fine and explained everything, she wouldn't stop. It was so frustrating. Sometimes I don't know if they do it to be cruel, or mean well and are uneducated on the surgery
  25. I'm sorry to hear about that. But I really know that feeling too. My best friend was super supportive when I was talking about it and super supportive asking how my appointments are going. Once I was home she came to visit and called me every day was great. And now I feel like she's distance herself from me. Is it because I don't want to go out to eat all the time? Is it because I want to do active things instead of just sit around? I unfortunately think jealousy is a big part of why we lose friendships. I definitely think my friend is someone who wishes she could lose weight, but wouldn't dream of getting surgery herself. Hang in there, I think this is a journey we are we really find who our friends are.
