  1. Hey @@kitty22! You're almost there - you have all of us behind you! I'm a week behind you! Save me a seat on the loser's bench!
  2. OMG - that's awesome! I work in San Mateo (for now)! How did you feel 2 weeks post op? I am supposed to fly 2 weeks, 1 day after surgery. I am flying to DC with a layover in Chicago. So it won't be too long of a flight. This all liquid diet is starting to wear on me. I'm pretty excited about and ready for the surgery party to be over.
  3. My doctor said that pre-op they were fine, but post op I would have to wait 6 months or so to take those again. Hence the reason he recommends liquid vitamins post op. You make a good point!
  4. I think it's important we decipher between the Vitamins and stages. Pre-Op vitamins were all from costco. - Gummy Multi Vitamin - D3 - B12 (dissolvable and pleasant taste) - Iron - Fish Oil - CLA I already purchased my liquid vitamins for post surgery as seen in my post above. My doctor said I need to be on liquid or easily dissolvable vitamins for 6 months post-op.
  5. My doctor highly recommends Premiere Protein which can be purchased at costco - 18 shakes for $24.99 + tax. I know Sam's Club also sells them. You doctor wants you on low-carb and low fat, high protein. The rule of thumb is always - under 220 grams of protein - single digit carb (9g and under) - double digit protein (10g or more) Your shakes should have 25-40g of protein. I have two that I really like - check them out on my blog (you can also buy them at Costco). http://FromAtoSleeve.blogspot.com I have some premium shakes on hand too. I wonder if I can just use those instead of the weight and inches.I would think you can. The most important part of pre-op diet, is losing weight and shrinking fat around your liver. It makes your surgery easier for your for your surgeon and less risky for you.I've lost about 40lbs during my year program! Going to try for a few more before surgery!!! Awesome, my goal is to be under 240 before surgery. That's a few pounds in 8 days. I feel like the little engine who could.

  7. Headaches are from limiting carbs. It gets a little better. Sleep sucks for me too. Surgery is a week from tomorrow.
  8. Hey Sleevers, I am having my surgery on Monday, Oct. 12. I have to be on a flight to DC on Tuesday, Oct. 27. What are your thoughts on flying 2 weeks post op?
  9. Hey Everyone! I'm in Mountain View. Getting sleeved on Monday, Oct. 12. Anyone else approaching your date?
  10. It's a self sabotage move. We've all done it. On day two of my liquid diet I was CRAVING real Protein. I ended up eating a can of tuna with dijon mustard. At least it was healthy. After that, I have been strict to the plan. Proud of you and wishing you best of luck.
  11. What flavors have you found that you like?

  13. You're so lucky. I am on all liquids, then Clear Liquids two days before hand (which is nice since it falls on a Saturday and Sunday). Three shakes and meal is completely doable! Best of luck! Make sure to check out my blog and share. http://FromAtoSleeve.blogspot.com
  14. Dub! You're going to do great! I have lost 5 pounds in two days on this all liquid diet. Once you stick to it and really put your head in it, you'll conquer all things. I started my journey May 29th - 271.1lbs. I am a week pre-op and down to 243.3. I am having the sleeve also. My out of pocket is around $350 for everything - eternally grateful for my wonderful insurance, despite the shitty company I work for (least they could do). You're going to do great! Follow my blog at http://fromatosleeve.blogspot.com/ We are here for you!
  15. I use Wellesse brand and buy through Amazon. I find that they're a little more expensive, but they're all liquid. Plus, all the Vitamins, medications, and even your gym member are tax deductible at the end of the year.
  16. My surgery date in Oct 12 - 8 days away in Mountain View, CA at El Camino Hospital. I'm actually very content and excited to get this portion of the journey over. I have been on a liquid diet for a week so far, I have found Premiere Protein shakes, you can get them at costco - $24.99 for 18. I find that I am not sleeping as well right now. Partially nerves/anxiousness and hunger. My surgery date in Oct 12 - 8 days away in Mountain View, CA at El Camino Hospital. 19. Hey - congrats on taking on this new journey. I had to complete the following requirements - 6 months supervised weight loss program - my doctor just wrote a letter that I had been doing Weight Watchers under her care - 1 visit with a psychiatrist - 2 visits with a nutritionist - Barrium test (to see the shape of my throat and stomach) - EKG - Blood work - Chest X-Ray - Attend 2 surgery orientation classes (required by my dr office) Tu 5/26 I had my initial visit with my surgeon to get the ball rolling to start surgery process. 20. Call Kaiser and they should be able to provide it to you via email.
  21. I had the same experience. I was approved in less than a week. Honestly, the biggest hold up was with my dr's office. I completed all my pre-reqs for surgery on 9/4/15. I was approved on 9/18/15 (was submitted to my ins on 9/14/15. Scheduled my surgery for 10/12/15. My out of pocket experience is $437.
  22. 1 what was your doctor and hospital Dr. Beeman Kahlil - Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF), a Sutter Medical Affiliate El Camino Hosptial, Mountain View, CA (3.2 mi from my house!) 2 do you have Anthem Blue Cross covered thorough a covered California Plan? Or through a work plan? I have Anthem Blue Cross through my job at a start up software company 3 what medical requirements were there? I am required to explain in depth that I have tried to diet for at least 6 months. My doctor was EXTREMELY thorough in my consultation appointment, where we talked about my diet attempts. BMI 40 or 35 with health issue Pre and Post Op Nutrition - no 3 or 6 month requirement Psych Eval 4 what medical tests were required? Usual blood work - CBC, thyroid, liver, Hep B, and a few others. There was only one that was fasting (CBC). I was happy to know that I didn't have to do a fasting glucose test. (Your doctor will probably recommend that you begin taking a Multi Vitamin, D3, B12 and Iron - if they don't, you should see another doctor) EKG - super simple, literally takes more time to undress and put a gown on (makes sure your heart is healthy enough for surgery) Chest X-ray - to make sure your lungs are clear and healthy (helps the anesthesiologist) Upper GI with Barium - this is to see the shape of your esophagus, stomach, and small intestine (This sh*t is NASTY. The smell is pleasant, but the taste is REALLY thick and chalky. Other than that, simple.) 5. Did you have to do a supervised diet? No. Not official. My doctor prefers you start weaning yourself of bad foods - sugar, carbonated beverages, caffeine, alcohol, fried foods, etc. I don't consume most of the before mentioned. I started drinking 3 shakes a day and one small meal (Protein, veggie, whole grain). 6 how long for approval? Not - sure (will report back after July 8, 2015) 7 what was good about them? n/a 8 what was bad? n/a 9 what should we know to watch out for if anything. Come prepared and educated. You are YOUR OWN BEST ADVOCATE.
