  1. I only buy FAGE 0% Greek yogurt. I eat it pretty much daily. In fact, I buy it by the case from Whole Foods. (6 pts @ $6.99ea - 10% case discount). I add it to my Protein shakes in the morning, use it instead of sour cream and even as a mayo replacement. I like that the only ingredients are milk and yogurt cultures. Nutrition breakdown is Calories 130, Fat 0, Carbs 9gm, Protein 23gm, Sugar 9gm per cup. As for add ins, I use pretty much anything on hand; fresh fruit, almond butter, a drizzle of raw honey, and on the rare occasion I buy flavored protein powder, I'll add a scoop of that and mix with the yogurt and then sit in the fridge for a bit to chill to the consistency of pudding. Me too, I find it the best and it's really lovely : Typical Values Typical Values per 100g Energy 243 kJ (57 kcal) Fat 0 g of which saturates 0 g Carbohydrate 4 g of which sugars 4 g Protein 10.3 g Salt 0.1 g Calcium 120 mg % R.D.A.* 15% *Recommended Daily Allowance -

  5. I spent a few weeks preparing (my op is on 23/07/15) and bought books on being sleeved and read them cover to cover, Protein drinks for my pre op diet - tried a few and maybe I have been lucky but I liked them all! I have bought plates, cutlery, freezer storage sets, and gas strips, liquid Vitamins, sorted out my meds with the GP (Dr) and made sure I could have them in liquid form for 3-6 months. I have made broth and its now in the freezer in ice cube sized chunks. Today I picked up a couple of new nightdresses and underwear. I have been told not to use straws as you end up sucking in air with them. However one thing I have found here is, everyone does things slightly different and what works for one might not for another. So read, study, chat and THEN make your own mind up for yourself. Good luck with everything and please let us know how you are doing along the way Kate
  6. Funnily enough I was just chatting to the hubster this evening and suggested we rent a cottage two weeks after the op and just taking the youngest (hes 17) and the dog, a few days away would be lovely... Just take it one day at a time and see how you feel Kate

    Pre Op Liquid Diet

I think there are a variety of different pre op liver reduction diets and of various lengths. I was asked to do either a 3 shake replacement diet or to follow a very strict diet of 2 oz. of this and 3 pieces of that. I am an all or nothing girl so opted for the liquid only, so I didn't have to keep thinking about my next meal and decided to do 18 days, my own choice and probably no difference to the 14 day one in terms of reducing the liver. Day 4 and 5 were the worst, the headaches were unbelievable but I drank more Water and they eventually went. A couple of days I have felt teary and down, very tired and desperate for the 23rd of July to be here. I’m on day 12 now, in the evening so at the end of it whohoooooo. Yup it’s right that we have another two weeks of liquids afterwards however I do believe this will be totally different to the pre op diet, in many way easier. Good luck everyone, this isn't easy BUT it's worth it!!! Hugs Kate

    Protein Shake Questions

Please can you let me know when you have tried them !
  17. I am on day 11 of the liquid diet and its soooooooooooooooo boring. I know it needs to be done but oh my. I can't wait for the puree food week lol. Three shakes a day is doable but every now and again I have a popsicle just so I can chew something. This time next week I will be out of surgery, God willing. The days are dragging now though so keeping busy is good! Best wishes to you both Kate

    Protein Shake Questions

My first tub of syntrax nectar arrived this morning and I LOVE it. I bought grape and its just like a drink rather than a protein drink. A plus is that I just added it to water rather than having to put it in the blender so it will be ideal to take out with me to work etc. It was really REALLY lovely !! Without these forums I might never have tried it so THANK YOU Kate

What's the story behind your profile name?

When I started using the internet years ago, I didn't want my real details online, even my first name and a friend suggested kate and I have stuck with that, where ever I have wandered on the world wide web. Funny really since I joined the 'July' group on facebook and the members can see my 'real life name' there. On Bariatric Pal the nick Kate was taken so I added uk, as believe it or not I'm from the UK
  20. Hug. Yesterday and today I have felt down in the dumps. I have no idea why and al I want to do is go back to bed and sleep. Surgery is in one week and a day. I can't even raise a whohooooooooo. Has anyone else felt like this before surgery? I am usually the one supporting others, feels strange going to a site where I hardly know anyone to ask for virtual hugs. Meh Bring on tomorrow and a new day!!
