_Kate_ replied to MxKitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Good to hear you are okay.. Im 5 weeks ahead now and like the VSG every day does get better!! -
My surgeon said I would probably hit 160 and then stop. I said 140. Anywhooo

Soon after surgery I used to mix my Protein powder with 10 oz Water and continually sip it. That way i got the fluids and protein in. If i have a shake now I just mix it with 4oz of water. Congratulations ! Kate

I had centrum chewables straight after surgery and also Calcichew D3Forte. I liked both of them. 18 months out, I still have the Calcichew but take regular vitamins. I have just ordered patches, they had a really good offer on via PatchMD so ordered 6 months worth. Hope you find something you like !!

You have been through a massive operation and for some (me too!) exhaustation can be the worst thing in recovery. I would try to get more fluid in and rest as much as you can. Hope you feel better soon Kate

My skin was dry before the VSG and much drier afterwards. Make sure you get your fluids in and use a thick moisturising cream daily. Exfoliate once or twice a week too as that will help. Kate

Question About the Drinking Rule
_Kate_ replied to sleevingbeauty321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein shakes are considered fluids. Happy drinking! Kate -
If you speak to her, can you please give her my best wishes for her latest work ! She and I were chatting about it before she left. Thanks

Have you lost that since your surgery date or before ? Well done on the 5K !

Congratulations ! How are you feeling?

My daughter in law is a dietitian and states the same thing all the time, "everything in moderation". (Btw she is about 5ft 2 and weighs less than one of my legs, never stops eating and bakes cakes every weekend grrrr). Im sure they learn that saying on the first day of University and recite it every day, as a pledge until they leave. If it were that easy the diet industry wouldn't bring in billions of pounds/dollars/insert currency here, would they? Good carbs are essential, bad carbs are not worth bothering with. Im resisting saying anything else, we are all entitled to our opinion and long term success depends on those choices.

18 months out: Yes, cravings have decreased (A LOT) Yes, I do feel full when i eat clean and put protein first I am on antibiotics now and it's not an issue. I have gained and lost the odd 2 pounds, here and there, which isn't an issue. Kate

I went to see my surgeon today and he told me that I don't need to wear my compression bra anymore. In fact I can get away with not wearing one at all right now. (no implants) I have been wearing bra's since I was a young girl. Now I am like a bohemian, '60's burn the bra' type of radical woman. I feel like making a daisy chain, wearing it around my head, popping some tie dye flowing clothes on and running barefoot through the woods. I kind of like it

Congratulations ! Sip, sip, sip - Walk, walk, walk, sleep. The earlier you get up and walk the easier it will be. I found showering made me feel much better too. Kate

I had my empty, long puppies hiked up (BL) no implants though, there was enough there to be a nice C (from a DD/E) Now they look fab. -

Congratulations, you look fab !! -
Are you having any Protein drinks ? If you mix Protein powder and Water, say 20 oz and drink two over the day, thats 50 gr of protein and 40 oz of water, right there. You must be cleared for foods by now? Kate
-
Hey Stella, I just saw we have lost the same amount of weight.... we are weight twinnies !! lol

Can you check beforehand as to what's on offer. Potatoes and gravy aren't the best choice right now. Soup could be a good choice but see what it is first. Some Soups can be laiden with cream. If your family know then why don't you have a Protein drink before you go and just have a drink during the meal. I know it's difficult but you really need to stick to the plan. Good luck! Kate
