  1. Anyone else have one body area that is stopping you dropping a size??

My lower gut area is a pain!! My pants are all baggy on me on the butt and thighs especially, my tops are baggy on the shoulders, chest and back area but this band around my lower gut is stopping me going down a size or two grr!

Anyone else have a problem area which is preventing them getting better fit clothing for everywhere else?

  2. Hi everyone. Damn I'm in tears writing this I'm only nearly 2 months out but I've already developed a bad new replacement habit and feeling really crappy about and at myself.

I've started over spending and shopping. Nothing crazy expensive but it's all been adding up to so much I'm not going to make a bunch of big bill payments. I know if I reign in now I can be caught up by Christmas but still I'm so mad at myself.

I wasn't like thus pre surgery. But I've been getting such a buzz and a major high from buying stuff. Things like stuff for our camp trip and Christmas gifts,a few new pants, a pair of curtains etc. Might not sound lavish but it's all added up to possiblly $1-2k in the last month over budget.

Ugh now bill time has come and I'm freaking out and will have to make some calls. I don't know why I've been doing it I knew it would lead to this. It's just like the food all over again :/

I don't have a therapist and I certainly couldn't afford one until I catch up with the bills. Please can anyone who's been through this and stopped give me any advise? Thank you in advance.... a guilt ridden sleever.

  3. I literally had one yesterday! and OMG the pain was horrible, i nearly passed out, bleeding was gross - and yet today - pain free no bleeding - so i figure half day of pain etc and 5 years of security (i get pregnant freakishly easily for an obese person with PCOS :| ) - I'll take that :)

  4. I do good on fluids but mostly flavored calorie free stuff - easier to get in than plain Water. I set mini targets like a glass before i leave for work, a glass when i get to work before Breakfast (I eat around 9:30) a glass between Breakfast and lunch and so on, so i meet each mini target making up the required amount by the end of the day.

food wise i'm ok, not much i can't tolerate had vomiting/slimmies twice and dumping when i eat dairy. but otherwise fairly normal foods. Struggling to get my Protein in though I never make target but Surgeon seems to thinks that it's good enough for now and i'll get more in over the next few months.

2lb away from half way mark, although i know this half was the easiest and .5lb away from Onderland.

  5. I'm the opposite to the tall girl issue. Here in nz plus sized clothes designers think everyone is 6ft. So if I got a xxxl top or pants the sleeves come a good 6 inches past my hands and the pants ball up with an extra 6 inches at the bottom sigh.... I'm not that short either 5 4" is pretty average.

  6. My hardest rule (or philosophy) to follow is "just because i can doesn't mean i should", that apply to a lot of things such as eating more often than i should or choosing not to eat foods which I can tolerate that won't help with my weightloss.

My easiest is i got myself a VivoSmart (Gamin made wrist activity tracker) i was very inactive post op, but now my daily rule is to hit my step targets it sets for me everyday. I've found this a pleasure to do and i'm slowly but nearly working my way up to 10,000 steps per day - You go to start somewhere and i'm proud of myself for keeping this up and making sure i do it everyday without fail.

  7. I've got some hunger back at 7 weeks, (and no it's not reflux or thirst or head hunger for those who trot out that reply every time someone mentions they feel hunger :)

It's slowly come on recently, it's certainly not as strong as pre op but if i miss a meal or am a few hours late for one I feel some genuine hunger, it's manageable and doesn't take a lot to satisfy I can live with it I just preferred it a few weeks ago when there was nothing :)

  8. I've done it too! on some yummy tandoori chicken, i knew i was full, but it was sooooo good had to have one more bite - the pain was so sore - after about an hour i threw up - not once but 3 times over the period of an hour and finally felt better, yup. won't be doing that again!

I"m a fast eatter so i have to be very careful, there is one bite between satisfied/fullish to full a tad sore but will be fine in a few minutes and one more bite to holy crap that is so sore that last bite was such a bad idea!!!

I struggle still between 1 and 2 but only hit that 3rd one once (that's enough not to do it again!)

  9. someone did tell you wrong that all counts to your fluids! so looks like you might be doing good, i was sleeved around the same time as you - i'm full of energy can manage fluids and most foods, have to be careful not to eat too fast, the weight loss has picked up a little the last week or so from the extreme slowness i had for about 4 weeks.

a normal day for me of food looks like 1 Optifast Meal Replacement bar (soy based) - so 1/3 of all minerals and Vitamins in that +19grams of Protein. maybe a few slices of ham on a lite cracker bread thing (22 cals), an egg or some chicken with a little lite mayo and a few bites of veggies.

I will eat a bite of two of cake if it's a birthday or something, drink wise not a huge fan now of plain Water so i flavor is with calorie free stuff or like you if on the run i get a Powerade Zero.

  10. I am only just over 6 weeks out but I'd say I have had tons more energy from week 4.i think it's part weight coming off but also feeling less sluggish from not eating too much I've realized I probably had food in tolerances pre surgery that are now more noticeable such as dairy and onion cutting these out has made a big difference to bloating etc I took before as normal which in turn makes me for energetic.

  11. I get both sides of this, I don't see myself getting down to a normal BMi - the lower end of overweight I can see myself at as i've been that before so my goal weight is there.

I think on the other hand our perception of what is skinny and other words sued is skewed, those are mostly normal body types and as we've gotton bigger as nations our view of normal is distorted from what it's been for the human race for thousands of year,

BMI only really doesn't work for those with extremely dense bones (youy need a DEXA scan to find this out) And those with large muscle mass. Me and my husband had DEXA scans done - i always thought i had big hips etc but once i saw the body mass i saw i had a tiny skelton, with a bit of muscle and a hell of a lot of fat!!!!

My husband on the other hand is Polynesian and has massive muscle mass without working out much and bone density that was literally off the of the hospital's chart - hence BMI would not work for him but would be more applicable for me.

Yet I've been overweight so long I just can't imagine myself within those ranges - but who knows!

  12. me! Im only 6 weeks out but nearly all my losseres were pre op diet and the 2 weeks after, since then i't been painfully slow including the odd gain. I've lost weight faster doing weight watcher in the past :(

I don't understand why it's so slow, i'm 30ish, fairly active I've not experienced such slow losses doing other methods, i'm eatting and drinking as i should, i'm not retaining Water.... I can't lie it's very disappointing I was self pay too at 20k, so even more painful on the wallet!

I just hope this weight starts shifting soon!! i'd take 2lb a week at this point!

  13. Well I officially handed over the batteries to my scales to my husband this morning I can't take it any more! I have been meaning to do that for a week, but i kept postponing it, but after gaining a lb over night after weeks of barely loosing anything I've had enough!

I will buy myself a wrist pedometer on my way home from work and concentrating on upping my steps daily as goals instead and see if i can switch my concentration to that and see how long i can go without cracking my resolve to weigh in!

  14. Hi all, my wounds never really hurt before, no sign of infection like redness or ozing etc.

However about 2 inches above my main central scar (and sometimes on under the scar it's self) the last two days on certain movements or pressure applied feels like i am being stabbed with a small knife! It does not hut constantly but when it does it's a 9/10 on the pain scale and I yell out.

I'm no expert but I don't think it's my sleeve, I think it's the muscle or fat or whatever is in there at that more shallow depth.

I don't know what could be causing this this far out - I've not done anything to strain it so it' seems strange it has suddenly occurred. Anyone else had this and a diagnose?
