Hair loss
You are going to be fine @@kdelrosso You are going into the new year losing your weight aggressively. You have between now and October to lose hard and stabilize. Ask your surgeon and regular doctors about possible hair products that may help........take in your Vitamins, Protein and other known good things. Do your part and simply let things run their course. I truly think you'll be fine.

SELF PAYERS...please give me your insight
I'd paid off my vehicles a couple years ago and was saving funds for a new ride. I'd always planned on doing Atkins diet + hardcore gym work and lose weight......injuries and health issues showed up bigtime this year and had me locked down by April of this year. I entered into a bariatric center and began the program....it was the standard 6 month plan with surgery short after it ended. An angel with my program sat me down two months into it and went over self pay options for me. That "new car money" was spent on my sleeve and the surgery happened less than three weeks later. I went with the same surgeon that I'd have waited for. He is a freaking genius and I have nothing but high praise for him and his work. I never considered Mexico. I've always hated flying.....and I was having an abdominal hernia repair done the same time as my sleeve and there was no way in hell that I was going to attempt airports and such.

I tied my shoes :)
Well done, Candi. Very well done. Due to back problems I was also unable to get my own socks and shoes on for a good part of this past year. Crazy.......I'll never take such daily tasks for granted ever again. Losing the weight is a real blessing in many ways. Eating healthy like you are doing is another blessing. Think about how much better our heart and other other organs now are. Sure feels good. Keep on doing great. Post up some progress pics, too. They can really help motivate folks !!!

Cheating
I'd love to be in your background.

Cheating
Whatever it was.........was cheating myself. Like sitting at the poker table and tossing my own chips on the floor. The goal here is to lose and get into shape. There is no food on this planet that is worth compromising me reaching my goal. Getting relief from my back pain.......easier bending of the knees.........better performance in all categories.......is a WIN that I'll not shortcut with some flavor. Success tastes best of all. Best wishes.

One word to describe how you feel after losing all that weight
In the words of the late, great James Brown......... "Like a........like a.........like a sex machine". I'm looking nowhere near how well I feel. I'm sure of that fact. I do feel like I'm 21 years old again though. Just this afternoon.........I was caught humping a tree in the backyard this afternoon. The tree may have been offended, but I was going with the felling. This sleeve surgery was the best gift I've ever had !!!!!!!!!

Eliminating Processed Food
Here's my multi-cooker, a Kamado Joe BigJoe. It runs at whatever temp I adjust it for.......smokes heavily or almost no smoke........grills, smokes, 900 degree steaks or 350 degree cakes. Fresh Protein supply !!!! Can't wait until next year......I'll be a hunting fool and loading it with freshly killed wild game !!!!!!! Turkey season is up first......

Eliminating Processed Food
I rely on easy stuff.....now more than ever. I find myself pressed for time lately due to work demands. Tuna in the pouch, hard boiled eggs, Premeir Protein shakes, fast food (throw away the bread......nothing better than a grilled chicken sandwich w/o the bread), etc. Not much help for you, sorry.

Top 5 things to bring with to the hospital.....GO!
1) smartphone with an external battery back-up so you don't have to plug into a wall charger 2) loose fitting gym clothes 3) slip on sneakers from New Balance.....best dang shoes you'll ever buy. Makes those hospital laps easier and you'll wear them around the house forever. 4) large pillow to hold against your abdomen on the car ride home. It helps a great deal.....especially when you hit Patches of bumpy road 5) have your prescription pain meds already filled. You may want to dose up for the trip home. My sleeve wasn't a source of pain at all.....but the abdominal hernia repair was tender. I had a total of 8 incision locations. Looks cool now.....like I was in some type of adventure. Best wishes for you. It was a great decision for me. Very grateful for the progress so far and even more grateful for the progress that is sure to come over the next few months........

NSV goal for an article of clothing?
Oh yeah......buying clothes for future smaller sizes. I've done a good bit of that recently. It's in the 60's here this weekend, but will back to the 80's next week. At some point it is going to get cold. I've got a 2XLT leather coat that I'm looking forward to wearing by February.......

Did you say "what did I do" !
Nope. Never had a doubt about what I'd done. Never a second thought. Never a regret. I'm very glad........and very grateful.

This diet seems like BS and I am pouting
Keep after it and profit mightily. I'm just two months out and I feel like a new man. I can't even begin to imagine how much better I'll feel at the 1 year point.

Not getting much support from husband
Non-supportive dudes are idiots. They must be clueless as to the new you that is going to arrive soon. That new you will be supercharged & sexy....in mind and body. What kind of guy is so stupid as to not support THAT ?????

Honey?
Theraflu is the ticket for me in cases like that. Honey tastes so dang good that I'd fail to use it for medicinal purposes only.....be drinking in tea all the time.

Sex... Oh My God... Sex!
Two months past sleeve surgery. 50+ lbs down since surgery. 100+ lbs down since pre-op diet. Things are going really well in the bedroom. Strong like bull. I can't imagine how insane it's going to be by the 1 year post-op timeframe. Life is good............

What To Do On Weekends
Not to be crude........but my weekends are all about resting and recouping from the workweek.......and keeping the bedroom lively. Occasionally, I'll throw something on the grill to gnaw on. Life is good.

Other surgeries to explain scars to new partner
Lights off.....pants on the ground........let it ride. Little lies are still lies. You will not likely fool him with any such story, either.

That is outstanding !!!!!!!!!

Dare I Ask?
It taught me many lessons that I hope to never forget. My joints and back will be reminders of the heavy times, but I am recovering a lot of mobility already. My stride is lengthening and pace is quickening. Still taking it carefully.....but certainly feeling much better this quickly. I'll always remember how critical good health is and how much we control this ourselves. Overeating and underworking is the pathway to an early grave. This makes it easy to eliminate certain foods from my life and easy to adopt a whole new way of eating. I'll remember how hard it was to recover from various surgeries and illness like the the simple flu bug or sinus infection. Being heavy compounds the impact of these. Being lighter and more agile will certainly make future recoveries much easier. Understanding that I can slide right back into old habits and poor overall health is clear in my mind. I'm so very grateful to not be as heavy as I was......and hoping and working to be lighter next week, next month, next year and maintain forever. Living with a new way of eating is not a short term diet, but something I'll be doing for life.

What’s the ONE thing you wished you knew before getting sleeved ?
How absolutely easy this was going to be......I wished I'd done this years ago. Seriously. I have zero complaints about anything related to the sleeve surgery.......liquid diet and all. Everything has been straightforward and within my ability to handle. I don't understand all the complaints from folks who've not had complications. Too much whining. I'm really enjoying the reduction in joint & back pain that I'd been dealing with last year. That persistent pain had limited my mobility a great deal. It had even begun to make me a grumpy bastard for sure. I've lost more than just weight. A lot of pain has gone with it. A lot of medication has, too. The more unpleasant part of the surgery is simply the wait time for the surgery itself. The recovery and the new way of eating is simple and easy. I"m 7 weeks out and am laughing at the clothing situation already. I've dropped a couple "xx"'s from the shirt size and several sizes smaller in the waist on pants. I feel like I really haven't even gotten started good, yet. The best losing and rebuilding is ahead. I have lost some muscle along with the fat. I'm learning how critical it is to take in my Protein like I'm supposed to. I'm guessing that I'll be reliant on Protein shakes for a long time.....one a day. Looking forward to the hernia repair fully healing so I can start a structured weight training program. Was going to book a vacation in March/April........but I think that I"m going to punt it back until May/June. Shirtless at a beach-pool will be a heap more fun if I can get a few months of good gym work in.

time it takes to eat
I try to take my time....15 mins or more. Occasionally, I'll forget and jump on it too fast. I get a nice reminder when I do that.....and it lasts for a long and uncomfortable time. One would think I'd quit forgetting. I love my sleeve and what it's done for me in this short time. Very easy to live with. Zero complaints from me.

"Cheating"
I'd love to have that recipe. Novel idea.

Self pay
I grew really frustrated with my insurance company. I am generally an easy going and polite sort of person. I was 3 months into the deal and getting bounced around by UHC and lost my patience with them. I felt as if I was being manipulated and delayed on purpose. I wound up cussing out every level of supervisor I kept getting escalated to. It didn't do a thing to help my situation.....but I certainly felt better after letting it ride on every one of them that I could. I opted to self fund and had my surgery a moth later. I would still be waiting for surgery right now had I not done so. One of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.......EVER. UHC can form a single file line........and pucker up and kiss my big shrinking arse. I've got something they can manipulate.

Frikking FINALLY with the compliments!
Definitely on your way !!!!!!!!!!! I think most of us are our own best complimentors. We feel the looser clothes and the diminished joint pain....feel the pep in our step........and see the leaner person looking back at us in the mirror. Just wait until beach season gets here and you are strutting around in the bikini in your avi. You'll be growing tired of the compliments.
