  1. So true! I've lost 8 pounds in a week so that has certainly made the liquid life a bit more palatable! Sent from my iPod touch using the BariatricPal App
  2. My only regret with my sleeve surgery is that I didn't do it sooner. You've been approved. It's gonna cost you $1,800. I grew tired of the bullcrap delays my insurance company was tossing around. I spent the funds I'd been planning on using for a new car and self funded the surgery. That sped things up significantly. There is a lot of running around for you right now.....but think of it this way....the appointments will only help to keep you laser focused on the weight loss you can achieve on your way towards surgery.
  3. Inflammation is certainly a factor that most of us experienced. No leaks ! Good stuff ! Done with surgery !! More good stuff !!
  4. It is very surprising that actual body fat % are not employed more often with us. It seems to be a much better scoreboard than BMI. You're really lost a tremendous amount of weight and have done great. Good to see that you are still focused on taking it further.
  5. Very normal. The liquid life is boring.....but seeing the scale move favorably is the payoff.
  6. Congrats on getting to this point. You will do great............and.....what is the doughnut thing you speak of ? Just kidding. I do think the folks that work at Dunkin Doughnuts must be wondering whats up with me not that go in there and just order coffee.
  7. Yup.....it's a timeframe when you'll have some "blah' moments. You are doing the right things, though. Just stick it out and profit from your actions. Things are going to really work out well. Try to remain hydrated and stay busy so you'll not have idle time to think about it.
  8. Great post. LMAO. It is one of the great side effects of WLS.......You will be rewarded with updated junk.
  9. Yup. We were glad to get Vince. I imagine his leadership is big in the locker room.
  10. Last thing you'll want is a smokers' cough when you are healing up post-op. Kick the habit and do things that help you to breathe deeply......treadmill.....and then hot showers to cough that junk up as much as you can the weeks leading up to your surgery. It is not easy, but a lot of us do it and feel the relief.
  11. C'mon over. ECU Pirates, GA Bulldawgs and anyone who is playing against Florida State. NFL = Texans and whoever is playing against the Cowboys NBA = Cleveland
  12. Many fun times ahead for you !!!!
  13. I have unsweetened tea a couple times a week and coffee every day. No issues.
  14. Football eats ? Yup....got a few favorites for gameday meals. As you'll see.....most of them are vegetarian and uber healthy......or at least sleeve friendly............. Guacamole is always good to me. I was joking about the whole vegetarian thing, btw. Herb smoked meatballs and stuffed mushrooms. Wings and buffalo chicken dip. Stuffed clams. Beef brisket burnt ends. Stuffed jalapeños. 'ritas. Lobster tails & tuna steaks with wasabi. Sliders. Grilled asparagus with bacon upgrade. An easy halftime food that can be made swiftly......ribeyes. This one was grossly overcooked, in my opinion. Bacon wrapped meatballs.
  15. You are cracking this old fella up. Cheese and hot sauce is how I get things done.
  16. On point here. Casein protein takes longer than the whey isolate to be digested, therefore being satiated will last longer. In terms of "ideal" protein ( for those who are ok with milk products) casein is second only to 100% whey-isolate. It's a good choice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Night time is the right time for casein. It's perfect for feeling full for hours.
  17. Try a casien protein shake and call it a day.
  18. Outstanding......you look fantastic. You are doing great and have the will to achieve anything you set your mind to achieving.
  19. Do you recall way back when you wrote something indicating that you're a grown-up and I told you I'd thought until then that you were an undergrad? Now you know why. I'm in no way opposed to doing research -- I do it all the time -- but not when it's someone else's. Oh, let the old walruses put straws up their noses. Why is the topic always volatile? Do what you want, straw or no, and shut up. Wow. I must have missed something. Things getting steamed up over straw jokes and fruit ????
  20. Whew......thought I was gonna have to do something manly and post up the proof pics.................chop down a tree, go gator wrasltin', or some such. Glad I'm off the hook and get a pass.
  21. Great looking dog !! No wanting skunk problems.
  22. You get dialed back in by taking control of things. Stop grazing. Plan your meals and space them apart at correct intervals that will provide you with energy. You are in complete control of every bite of food that you take. Nobody is forcing you to eat. You hold yourself accountable and make the right choices with the right types of food in the correct quantity and at the right time. Tracking every bite through the use of an app like myfitnesspal makes it really easy to see where you are slipping. It's right there in front of you. It breaks down the macros really nicely so you can see where you are failing. Exercise can be a great way to get there, too. I promise you that if you get on a treadmill and punch in your weight.....allow it to track calories burned......you'll see and feel how much each calorie really counts. It will make it easy for you to stay on track. It's all about you regaining control and being in charge of your nutrition.
  23. My dogs are the only ones who love my getting up early. Gives them the opportunity to outside for some pre-dawn scouting around and then they come back in and pile up on the sofa like they are right now.
  24. I distinctly remember the TV commercials being the something I noticed more than normal during my pre-op liquid diet. They really jumped out at me. I remember laughing and thinking, "You guys are getting my attention, but, you are wasting your advertising funds on me". I also remember thinking that I would be able to have much of what was advertised in the months ahead.....burgers without the bun and etc. It was a nonissue after a short time.
