    3 month exercises

You are doing well. Be consistent with the exercise and be mindful of the calorie intake and all will be well. Measure, track, evaluate, adjust activity accordingly. In short, weigh daily and take appropriate action.
  2. All I have to say is........ you try to take my jalapeno Cheetos and you'll get yer arse beat......oldschool beating, too.
  3. So.....you've lost 264 lbs and are 2 years out from wls and started a thread titled "I wanna know about carbs.....Seriously!" Odd. I thought you were the "Doctor"...who fields all questions......dispenses wisdom left and right. At this point I'd have thought you could teach classes on carbs.

@Elode that is what this place reminds me of.

Oh. Things are changing I've been informed. I've been gone for months and I see the maturity level is incredible sad. That's just too bad. I missed out on everything! I'm not sad about it though :) I'm a happy girl!!! Hope you're doing swell!

Thank you for staying, @Dub!! I'm glad you're back, @Elode!!

Yes, it is different now, but I believe this site is what you make of it. We've been here long enough to know to take good and leave the bad behind. At least that's my thought. :)

  5. There are many things that are liquids yet not allowed on the diet. Milk, for instance, has too much sugar for most plans. My surgeon was fairly liberal on many things later on after surgery but very strict on the 14 day liquid diet. I was advised to have 3-4 Protein shakes (there were three approved brands) mixed only with Water. In addition to that I could have any non calorie drink (water, crystal light and the like). It was not much fun, but it passed quickly and the weight loss was fun to see. The plan did not allow for any type of meals but if it did I believe that making sure they were low carb would help keep the cravings and hunger to a minimum.
  6. Howdy..............14 months post op here. Also becoming a salad lover........largely in part because my program's NUT says we shouldn't eat salad. Flawed reasoning, I know......but it's how I roll. Went to a spot yessaday.....known for their salad bar. Ordered their New Orleans blackened fish and shrimp......and salad bar. Spinach, bacon, red onions, soybeans, blue cheese dressing and other non-carb stuff added. It was mighty tasty and more than half made it home in a to-go box. I laugh at some of the bs my NUT preached. I was able to get a pile of Protein and Fiber from yessaday's outing.
  7. I was too damn scared to......after watching the surgery videos my surgeon made me watch..................... It was clear as hell what the purpose was of the liver shrink diet. I comprende'd and complied. I'm too scared to cheat. Plus it's like a personal challenge for me to see if I can do it. I think it kind of sets the mind tone for post op. Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App You CAN do it and your mind tone (great phrase) will be enhanced.
  8. Chili looks good.... And I have hopes for next season...............
  9. Why are you regretting that ??? Granted, I'm not a bypass patient, but, I would think those are foods you'll be able to have again later on down the road. Oh....btw.....you'll be having a heap of fun between now and then, too. You will forget about food pleasures.
  10. Good old Flintstones chewables were what my VSG surgeon said would work just fine for me. They available at every grocery store I've ever looked for them in. Taste great and very economical. My 12 month blood work came back happy over Flintstones, too. No need to overthink this one, folks.....that is if your surgeon did their job in counseling you properly....and you paid attention.
  11. It's hard....I know. I smoked for a loooong time but was able to put them down. My suggestion for you is to join a gym....right away......like today, lol. Getting active there during your time off will really help. Bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, stairs and etc have a way of releasing endorphins that will have you feeling enthused and happy and your cravings for smoking, eating and drinking will be diminished.....I assure you. You'll also be burning calories and amplifying the weight loss. You'll be surrounded by motivated souls who are in there to get themselves in better shape, too. Being around them is very positive.
  12. You may as well get used to it. That's what happens when there are precious few successful vets around. Well, the OPs questions have been duly answered. With as little drama as possible. There was No need for all the "the sky is falling" comments about everyone leaving. Just give it time, and someone'll answer. To answer your other question, I am a recently sleeved friend of a 3 year post op RNY patient. I was initially skeptical of WLS (research vs cost benefits) until watching his transformation up close and personal, developing hypertension, and waiting to move to a state with few hiccups regarding coverage prompted my surgery decision. I stalked BP for 1 year before creating a profile a few days before my surgery.. Sent from my SM-N900P using the BariatricPal App So not only do you name-call and stalk people, but you have reading comprehension trouble too? "Recently sleeved" is not 2+ years post-op and being a friend of someone who is doesn't make you a vet either. This is the kind of advice-givers who will dominate going forward, now that all of the reliable people have been banned. Lord help you all. LoL.. it's not name calling.. to use an often bandided phrase here, it's "telling it like it is" Did I claim to be a veteran? That was why I left a disclaimer in my post. Not once did I claim I was a 'vet'. I was more concerned with why instead of telling someone with a genuine question proper advice, all you were doing was claiming that the vets are gone or going. Didn't my advice turn out to be true? I never try to make peoples threads about me or someone else. I just try to help and move on. Anyway... nothing more to say here. Clearly something else is bothering you. Perhaps a new thread may provide a medium for other people to be of some assistance. Have a pleasant evening.. Sent from my SM-N900P using the BariatricPal App Why, thank you. I think, though, instead of a pleasant night............I'll have a pleasant life. In part due to the vets who led me to make the right calls at the right times......and not a bunch of enabling well-wishers who didn't have a clue what they were talking about.
  13. You may as well get used to it. That's what happens when there are precious few successful vets around.
  14. Not much at all...............only that some of the folks that were honest with me.....gave me the jolts of truth and challenged me......helped direct me to change my thinking and behaviors..........helped me extend my life....which was soon to end....and now I feel like I'll live forever since taking their advice.........yeah...those people have been permanently banned. Not much has happened. Sadly.....the loss will impact the very newbies that are posting in this thread the most. I was one of them this time a year ago. I wish them well and hope that they can sift through the bs and find some real solid advice from some real solid veterans. There truly aren't many left and it is a poor reflection of what this place is becoming.
  15. You'd better glean whatever pearls of wisdom you can from them quickly as the successful vets......the very ones who have have helped bring many of us to a much better weight and state of being.....are being permanently banned from this sight. The good news is....the newbies that feel like lost sheep can take comfort in the fact that any and every imaginable "bariatric product" is only a click away. They will be able to shop until their heart is content around here. Lot's of product for sale. The 2 year plus successful vets don't rely on such products.....don't buy them......therefore are of little value here, it would seem. It's a sad state of affairs around here. If the goal were for us to help each other lose unwanted weight and improve our lives.......the vets would stay and the interaction here would flourish. Sadly.....the goal seems to be to sell product. I and many other would gladly pay a membership fee to keep the doors open and support the costs associated with running the sight.

    New food ideas..

I prefer to avoid Snacks and simply have meals. Some of the stuff that I used to snack on is actually a meal now, lol. More like appetizers for meals now. A serving of lightly salted almonds or some Swiss cheese dipped in some Tabasco sauce is pretty damn good.
  17. My surgeon suggested I use Milk of Magnesia for any constipation issues in the days after surgery to relieve constipation. Several days after surgery, though.....I had an incident like you described....thought I'd "broke it", too. It was horrible. I truly feared I'd bust the internal stitches from an umbilical hernia that was repaired when they did my sleeve. It was like passing a brick through my system. Soon, though, I was allowed to have coffee. That certainly helped. Daily doses of the orange flavored Fiber mixed with cold Water was helpful, too. Now....over a year later, I eat greens, kale salads, almonds and other tasty sources of fiber......and blessed morning coffee. No issues.

Grazing and how to end it?!

@sasharbinx This is the part where you've got to fix your thinking. Your surgeon fixed your stomach, lol, but this is where it's now on you to make the changes. It's no longer about hunger anymore...it's about eating to nourish your body as needed. Tracking calories at this point can really, really help. Getting on a treadmill and keying in your weight will show the calories burned. When you see how much effort it takes to burn those calories....your desire to consume them through grazing will be greatly diminished. Discipline will be achieved.
  19. Both the local bariatric centers that I consulted during my pre-op had self pay options with the costs being very close. The one that had Bariatric Center of Excellence certification actually included BLISS (spelling ?) insurance which covered any and all complications that are related to the wls procedure for the next year. I chose the center that had this insurance as well as their excellent track record. All went well and all is well. Do your homework well and enjoy the results.

    Vsg & keto?

Keto is mainly how I roll. Breakfast this morning was a handful of wasabi almonds, a slice of sharp cheddar and two slices of Swiss. Outstanding flavors. lunch is probably going to be an omelette of some type. dinner will most likely be grilled chicken breast as my son requested grilled chicken sandwiches with bacon and the works. I have yet to experience any type of hunger. I will get carb cravings if I eat sugar heavy foods like candy and other junk. Life is simply much easier if I avoid that mess and stick to hearty Protein and vegetables.

    PB&J

Disclaimer: I haven't read a single post in this thread....simply quoting you and replying. 4 weeks out and eating a Peanut Butter & jelly sandwich ??????? Really ??? Does this seem like a good plan to you ? I can say with absolute certainty that PB&J was one of the many foods I abused that brought me to the point of having wls to get past my obesity and related health issues. I don't give a damn if I ever see another PB&J sandwich. I'd much rather get lean and live lean. There is no food that holds any power over me that I'd want to return to if it was part of my demise. Figure out the foods that work best as your new fuels and consume those in the correct quantities. Forget about the rest. Oh okay...... aw that's sad, everyone gets surgery for different reasons not only obesity. Yes 4 weeks and yes I can eat it so I will. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Do what makes you feel good.............if knocking out a 1/2 a PB&J sammich is what it takes to keep you clean the rest of the time......then hell yes.....rock on!!! I suggest Skippy PB, btw. Any jelly is good as long as it's Smucker's Grape. I choose to get my "indulgence" calories in other ways. It's all good. Whatever it takes to keep you strict most of the time. Sorry I came off like I was preaching. Far from it. Just a dude who is very happy now that he's a leaner dude.
