  3. I am just over 7 months out from surgery. I can tell you that it gets better. I still have my frustrations. I work out and eat right and still don't lose weight until my body is ready to let it go. That's OK. It's all a learning process. You have to figure out what your body can handle. Crawl before you walk!

    EXERCISE CHALLENGE

Worked out 5.75 hours this week
  6. We were very open about our surgery and I wouldn't change a thing about how we handled it. People will question your eating habits, the weight loss, etc. We just told people in advance. We are very lucky to have supprtive people in our lives.
  7. I was ok until the day of surgery. I mean, I just had a baby 6 weeks before surgery...nothing could be scarier than that. Then, everything kinda hit me...my life is going to change. My relationship with food is really going to change. But, my surgeon came in, reassured me he was going to take care of me and then I was out. I am just over 6 months out now. Down 134 pounds (104 since day of surgery) and all my labs are completely normal. I have zero regrets. I now work out 6 days a week. I have muscles! Food is not my motivator or comforter any more. You got this. Just a few more days!
  8. Welcome, Josh! Hope you and your wife can do this together. My hubby and I had our surgeries 3 weeks from each other. He is my biggest supporter and encourager. I have PCOS also so I understand what your wife goes through. We have zero regrets about our surgery. We just had our 6 month lab work and we are completely normal on everything from blood pressure to Protein. That's a first for us! I encourage you to ask questions of your doctors, nutritionist, etc. Start making changes now and that will help you later. If you can start getting more active. The surgery is a tool (you will hear this a lot). After surgery it is all up to you. This is a great forum!
  9. You must get the junk away from you! If it is a temptation, remove it. You do need to see your NUT though. They can help.

My cycle is regular which is awesome. I only lose weight the week I am on my cycle. Don't know why. I have PCOS so the normalcy is awesome.

    EXERCISE CHALLENGE

I try to get 10,000 steps a day/70,000 per week.
  13. I am just over 6 months out. My typical day is breakfast: scrambled egg and salsa with one piece of Canadian bacon. Snack: greek yogurt snack 2: turkey pepperoni with cheese Lunch: grilled chicken with veggies or soup Dinner: lean meat with veggies. I do have some carbs: mashed potatoes, crackers, popcorn, etc but in limited quantities. I can pretty much eat anything but in VERY limited quantities. I don't know what sliming is, but I have never gotten sick. I get full really quickly though. Sweets are difficult. If I partake it is VERY small.

    regrets....

I'm sorry you are feeling this way. You are only a month out though. It does get better. I have not ever had any regrets, but definitely frustrations. I've had a 3 week stall every month since my 2nd month. I am just over 6 months out and still only eat about 650 to 850 calories a day. I work out religiously at least 5 days a week. Surgery is a tool and there are many resources that can help in this journey. My surgeon, his staff, and my nutritionist have been amazing. I promise it gets better!

    2 months out

I had my surgery when my baby was 6 weeks old! It feels great! I am just a little over 6 months out. The first few months weight came off easier. I went on birth control in July and it has slowed. I still average about 11 to 16 pounds a month, but usually only lose weight about a week and a half out of the month. Yay for new moms and getting healthy!

    Music to sweat to...

I do the same thing on my treadmill days. I do classes 3 days a week and the treadmill 2 times a week. During class, it is easy not to focus on the clock but there is a clock on the treadmill! I focus on the songs and getting through the playlist! Good luck on your journey!

Carbs, Fats and/or Calories (oh my!)

I tried going up to 800 to 900 and still the same. Some days I get 600 some days I get 900. My nutritionist says it's just how my body responds. Just discouraging when my hubby is losing 1 to 3 pounds every few days.
  20. I am always truthful and say that I had weight loss surgery. I am not ashamed that I had surgery and I try to let people know that surgery is just the beginning. I always follow up by saying, I work out 5 to 6 days a week and eat clean. Your case may be different. People can be so rude. I am sorry you have to deal with women like that.

Carbs, Fats and/or Calories (oh my!)

Had my surgery on 4/27 so I am almost at my 6 month mark. I am down 125 pounds, but only 95 since day of surgery. I hit a stall every month! I actually only lose weight about 1 to 1.5 weeks out of the month. Now, I may lose 7 to 12 pounds in that timeframe, but that's how my weigh loss has been every month since I went on BC in July. It is frustrating to get on the scale everyday and then some days it says a pound higher. I say, "I only ate 650 calories yesterday and worked out for an hour, how could I have gained weight?" No clue! I don't know of the "honeymoon phase" everyone talks about. I have been working hard 5 to 7 days a week since week 2! I try to stick to high Protein and low carb plan.
  22. Thanks for the suggestions dlappjr. I've been using the premier Protein in chocolate or vanilla but having some other options is great. The chocolate mint sounds awesome! I also use unflavored unjury.

    Reintroducing Caffeine

my husband drinks one cup of regular coffee a day. I am still with the decaf. Before surgery I was the Coke Zero QUEEN! I was pregnant prior to surgery so I could not have caffeine. Now, I just don't want to feed the beast.
