  1. I agree. My hubby thought I was beautiful at 294 and thinks I am beautiful at 139. He thought I was beautiful at every weight in between. Of course I loved him when he was 360 and I still love him at 185. Very blessed.
  2. No words of advice. My hubby and I are doing this together. He had surgery 3 weeks before me. Our support group talks about this a lot though. How relationships can and will change after surgery.
  3. I was a 7.5 pre surgery now I am a 6.5 or 7. 155 pounds lost!

4 months out and EXTREMELY EXHAUSTED!

Some days I am more drained than others. I have not, however, fallen asleep at work. I usually just crash around 9 pm on those days though. Make sure you are getting in your Protein and calories and fluids. About 3 months in, I wasn't losing any weight. My NUT advised me to add some carbs to my diet. You may need some healthy carbs.

    Struggling today :-(

You are halfway there!!! You can do this!
  6. I hated the celebrate chewables. I was so glad I could stop them after the first month. Give me a pill to swallow any day. The quality and price are good though!

What Fitness Tracker do you use?

I have a fitbit Charge HR. A study was conducted on these devices and the Garmin VivoFit was the most accurate. It is also good because you can get it wet. I like my Charge HR. I wanted the heart rate aspect of it and it is accurate enough for me. It syncs to My Fitness Pal and is easy to use.

    You're Cheating

I have not gotten that comment. I have been extremely open and honest with everyone about getting surgery. I also educate them on how this is a step in right direction, but it is not a cure. I share with them how people can and do gain weight. I share with them that the surgery only gives me a level playing field. That it is a "reset" for my body after all the years of diets, malnutrition, and poor choices. I let them know that I have to be even more careful than the most cautious dieter. I have to make sure I am getting nutrients and not junk or the adverse effects it can have. I also then share that I run 3 days a week, walk 3 days a week, do zumba once a week, lift at body pump 2 times a week, and never get fewer than 12,000 steps a day. I then ask what their work out regime is. I ask how much Protein they get a day. I ask if they are lacking any Vitamins or minerals. You can better believe that I am NOT!

Am I going to gain it all back?

My surgery center has a free support group every month. Is that a possibility? I would say to keep tracking your food and exercise. Do you have an accountability partner? My husband and I keep each other honest and motivated to eat right and work out. I've also gotten my office involved in eating healthy and working out. We do weekly/monthly challenges.

    Hobbies?

Spare time? I don't even know what that is. LOL. I work full time, I am in grad school, and have a 10 month old baby. I also work out 6 days a week. I would LOVE some spare time. I now spend any free time planning my daughter's 1st birthday. I do spend my free time at work on Pinterest though!

    Fat Doctor

I haven't seen the show, but am familiar with some of the others such as My 600 lb life, Obese and Pregnant, and some others on TLC. I look at pictures of myself at almost 300 pounds and say, "how did I get there". I, too, have PCOS and I can't blame it for all the gain, but it never made things easy. Poor food choices, not caring about my health, being lazy. People now ask how I stay committed to everything. It is simple...I don't want to die. I was MORBIDLY obese for the better part of 15 years. I was so fat that it could KILL me. I have had 3 family members die before the age of 50. I just had my baby at the age of 38. I want to be a good example for her. Working out is work for me, but I go. Good luck in your journey!

Brand spankin new - SIPS surgery March 10 2016

    Welcome and good luck!
  13. My sizes changed so quickly! I started out as a 26 or 28 in bottoms and 3x or 4x in tops. I had surgery at the end of April in 2015 and was down to a size 20 by the end of May or middle of June. I was in a 16 in September, a 14 in October, 12 in November, 10 in December, and now either a 6 or 8. I wear anywhere from an XS to a M in tops.
  14. My surgeon has me taking a b-12, a multi-Vitamin. I also have to take an Iron supplement because my iron has always been low (has nothing to do with the surgery). I also take a Calcium because I am a woman over the age of 35.
  15. It took me a little over a week.
  16. I gained 5 pounds the first week after surgery. I then lost for a few weeks and then stalled for THREE WEEKS! This is pretty much how it has been for me. I started at 294 was 260 on surgery day and now at 139 in nine months. My hubby was losing 3 and 4 pounds a day for awhile. I have learned that I cannot compare myself with anyone because it is YOUR journey. Everyone's body and ability are different.

Milk: the Reason I Look Like a Heifer?

I have never been a milk drinker myself. I do drink a Protein shake a day, but that has little carbs. As someone stated above I was directed to NOT drink calories unless it was a glass of skim milk mixed with Protein powder. I could get a call in to my NUT and just ask.

    First food!

I remember my first egg. I could only eat a few bites. Now, I can eat a whole egg. I get so thirsty sometimes too but you do NOT want to eat and drink at the same time.

    Excess Skin Issues

Definitely document with photos any issues. My skin isn't that bad (I guess) but it is still bothersome. Hope all goes smooth and congrats on the loss so far!

    Do You Log Your Food?

I agree with the above wish lists. Also with MFP I cannot close the day because I don't eat enough.
  21. I will tell you from experience that skirts are just easier than pants while you are rapidly losing weight. I was changing pant sizes every 2-3 weeks for awhile. Skirts just "last" longer. Dresses too probably. I wore ALOT of a line skirts and cardigans or sweaters for the longest. I am now buying pants again. I didn't do the subscription although it probably would have been cheaper now that I think about it.
  22. Called our insurance company. At the time we had BC/BS. However, we live in Alabama and the insurance was from Maryland, but my husband's company was in Virginia. Anyway, after being told one thing and then getting confirmation that we did NOT have to do the 6 month supervised diet, it was fairly straightforward. We had to be 100 pounds overweight and do a psych evaluation. Those were our only two criteria. The first person that answers the phone usually doesn't have the in depth knowledge you need. You have to be persistent. Surgeon submitted paperwork on a Friday, and got approval a week later.
  23. Congrats on the start of your journey.
