  1. OK, counter-argument coming at you here. Get ready for some sarcasm -- I just don't have time to edit it out this morning.

You're getting married in 3 months, so you can justify splurging lots of times between now and then. Showers, luncheons, nights out with the girls -- it's all an opportunity to eat / drink "just this one last time." Right?

And then, of course, there's the week before the wedding. All those preparations. All those out-of-town guests. And then the big night! And then comes the honeymoon, probably at an all-inclusive resort. All of these are "once in a lifetime" experiences, right?

Then comes the stress of post-honeymoon life -- young married life is great, but it has ups and downs and other first-time-evers, not all of which are going to be happily-ever-afters. Imma guess stress-eating might've played a role in your pre-op life. Right?

You get my drift. Where's your line in the sand? If you don't draw it somewhere you can never stop crossing it.

I tend to agree with Ann in general, but without knowing you, I can't be sure.

What was your arch nemesis that led you to obesity? Your success will depend on slaying that dragon. In my case, I OD'd on the low carb lifestyle. I'd go months without eating as much as a cracker, but order macadamia nuts in 4 lb bags from Hawaii.

Now I eat limited carbs and avoid high calorie foods - it works for me.

What I'm getting at is, what role did cake or sweets play in your demise. If they were your downfall, avoid them like the plague until you hit your goal and go into maintenance. You'll need that 6-18 month period to develop new habits.

Of course if your downfall was nuts, eat some cake!

    Thanks for your input!

I'm def NOT a sweets person! I was a pizza and Pasta kind of gal before VSG! I can have a tiny bite of cake and be done... It's not "crack" to me, LOL. However, pizza I'm afraid I'm def not gonna mess with because that was my addiction. The only sweets I liked was cheesecake.

  2. Hello! I am 5 weeks post op VSG... Everything is going wonderful! I am having my wedding this September and have made a Cake Tasting appt w Hubby! Would it be absolutely wrong to take a tiny taste of the samples? It's my wedding after all and I wanna ensure the cake is tasty. I was never a sweets person to begin with so it'll be for mere taste. I follow all Dr's orders but need input! Thanks y'all!!

  3. Hey guys! So tomorrow I will be 1 week post op! I am down 13 lbs (23 from my HW). I am so happy with the results of my surgery. My surgeon was amazing! He used the DaVinci Robotic system to perform my sleeve. I have experienced no complications, gas pains, nausea, and all my liquid intake has gone down smoothly! I was kinda worried because I always read HORRIBLE stories on the FB Page with many complications and pain! I mean , I hope I'm not the only one recovering wonderfully! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm so thankful to be recovering awesome, I know it's only 1 week post op, but I sure hope it's smooth sailing, and of course, I will keep doing my part to not break any rules!

  4. Wow! I am officially sleeved!! I cannot believe how amazing my surgery outcome was and recovery is going so far! I thank God for all the amazing staff and of course my surgeon, Dr Ali! Hopefully I'll be released by tommorow!! I'd like to thank these boards for being an amazing source of pre op information!! post-255392-14611343074144_thumb.jpg

Yes!!! Please don't give up!! These insurance companies want people to give up so they can get away without paying for surgery! It was hard for me to be patient but at the end of the day, I'm glad I stuck it out! Good luck to you! Your day will be here before you know it!
Just wanted to update you. I was denied twice but I just got my approval today after my third attempt!! Thanks for all the hope you gave me

Awww ! I'm glad my words gave you hope! That is AMAZING!! Yay!!! Congrats!!! Do you have a date yet?? Mine is next Tuesday the 19th!

  6. First time because I didn't have 6 monthly consecutive weigh ins, 2nd because they weren't happy with my PCPs notes. He has to rewrite them because they were so "basic". The medical group wanted clear and precise notes. The third time, I really don't know why they denied. I went ahead and called my coordinator and medical group telling them I was very upset about the 3rd denial, I clearly need this! 10 mins later I get a APPROVAL call saying that the Medical Director overturned the decision! What a roller coaster of emotions it has Been!

  8. Hi Sandra Congratulations on your Approval I know you are excited !!

On February 2 i believe you came on board to tell us that you were denied for the 2nd time and that peer to peer was going to be scheduled soon. And you also asked has anyone had to have a peer to peer and how long did it take ect ect. i was excited to hear the answers since im waiting for approval. i was denied the first time. so i scroll down and Carey asked you why did you get denied 2nd time.. i again scrolled down fast because i want to hear the story . but nothing the next text from you was February 20 YOU were APPROVED. Although i am very happy for you cause it gives me a little hope about my situation that seems very similiar to yours i would still like to know what the reasons were that you got approved the first time , the second, time how soon you got the peer to peer what was said . Congratulations again did you get a date.

Sorry for the late reply! Been so busy taking care of hubby, he got his gallbladder taken out Thursday so I haven't logged on!

Anywho... Ok so I got denied in July for the first time because the medical group didn't have 6 months of consecutive weigh ins, finished that in January of this year and resubmitted for the 2nd time, my medical group denied me again, they weren't happy with my PCPs notes, they weren't 'clear' enough. My PCP was nice enough to rewrite the notes for the past 6 months and I hand delivered those notes to my surgeons office and they resubmitted that same day. I found out they denied me for the 3rd time a few weeks ago and immediately called my surgeons office seeking answers. My coordinator, Alicia, bless her heart, was surprised and said she'd take care of this. I went ahead and called my medical group immediately after I called my surgeons office and the med group informed me that the medical director overturned the denial a few mins after my coordinator called! They said they made an error! Damn right they did! I clearly am overqualified (lol) and took the proper steps! Anywho, I was close to giving up after the 3rd denial but I am so glad I didn't! What a roller coaster of emotions that day was! Feel free to message me if you have any more questions! I wish you the best! I start pre op testing on St Pattys day!

  9. I have Blue Shield of Ca. It's a bunch a BS why I kept getting denied... In July because I didn't have 6 month of weigh ins with my PCP, in January because they weren't happy with my PCPs notes, and last month because of some BS w my Medical Group handling my paperwork wrong. It's been a horrible past few months but I am finally approved and anxious for my next step!!

  10. Guys are you tired of my whining yet? So the latest I called insurance again today and they still aren't showing my paperwork on their end. I emailed my surgery coordinator again today bc I hadn't heard from her since she said she would call them yesterday, I asked her if she had heard anything about what is going on and she said she was still waiting for my insurance to return her call. OMG what is going on!!!! Where the heck is my paperwork we are working on week 3 and I have absolutely no clue what is going on ????

Ugh!!! How annoying!! Very similar situations were going through! Hope this nightmare ends soon for both of us!! I'm so tired of waiting!
