  1. My surgeon requires weight loss. He doesn't care what the ins. company thinks. He wants to know that his patient is committed enough to stick to a lifestyle change. I believe that the weight that is turned into the ins. company is your beginning weight. Don't you think that the ins. company appreciates see a patient that is willing to take the bull by the horns prior to surgery? Yup!!!!
  2. I see my surgeon for my six month visit next week. I actually delayed my surgery another month (maybe late June or July). Why rush it? Spend the six months preparing you for the surgery and the lifestyle change that is going to be put upon you. I can't hurt but it certainly can help

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!

Such good news, Yaz. Hoping the fill works for you. I'm curious. You said your best friend is getting married and asked you to "come out" in her wedding. Now, is that "coming out" in a good way or just phrased wrong. No problem either way....just interested cuz I am a true believer in people coming out.

    Abcessed after surgery :-|

Ice, so sorry that neither of your dr.s took notice of what you were going through. Wishing you a quick recovery. Have you talked to your profs about your school work? Maybe they can give you some ideas as of how to catch up. Good luck to you.

    That lady at the top.

Beautiful, BBK! Is it just me or does anyone else think that Boo Boo Kitty looks an awful lot like Bette Midler (sans the nose) in her younger days. BBK has a nice, curvy figure like Bette and hair to die for. Work it, girl!!

    the rudeness of others

Well, the way I have it figured, Kat. Humans all have the ability to think b/4 speaking. I figure most cutting comments are on purpose. Not just a slip of the tongue. I can forgive once. The second time around, I purposely ignore.

    the rudeness of others

Like said above, try to let it roll off of you. Rudeness is can be found in both sexes. I am on my 6 mo. pre-op diet. Had not seen my "best" friend since I started this process in Nov. I am down close to 50lbs and saw her a few weeks ago. Actually, spent 6 hours with her and not once did she mention my weight loss. She also has a weight problem and weighs about the same as when I started losing. I waited a few days and then emailed her. I asked her if she noticed at all that I had lost weight. Her response: "I would have said something about it but then I would have also had to tell you that your belly is still big". There is not a word I could say. She didn't deserve a reply to such a rude comment. I am now reconsidering the meaning of what a "best" friend is. It was said and I let it roll off of me. The only thing I have is sympathy for her and the fact that she cannot be happy for the steps I have taken.

Will I be the one for whom the band doesn't work?

Sunshine, thanks for posting "The Rules of the Road"
  12. Woohoo...look at you!!!!!! Springy and slim. You wouldn't get by wearing that dress today where I live. 10 inches of snow!

    Is anyone else...

I don't have a lot of advice since I am in the early stages and not banded yet. I have one more surgeon visit (had to do a six mo. medically supervised diet) and then my paperwork goes into BCBS for approval. I cannot do surgery until mid-June or July. We farm and don't want to do it during planting season. Want to wait until I don't have to worry about lifting, etc. I guess the only advice I can give is to be patient and follow up on everything you are asked to do. It's not a bad process. I guess the worst thing for me is worrying for all this time whether I will be approved or not. I will just face that when it comes. Again, good luck to you. Isn't it a good feeling when you finally decide to go down this path? Take care of yourself and don't be afraid to ask questions. There's always someone here that's experienced and can take care of you.

    Is anyone else...

Hey Applebottom, I'm Appletop. You just keep that funny personality throughout your weight loss process and after. (you might just need it) Good luck. Do you have a date yet?

Poor Bo. But, I can tell he has good parents that are taking care of him. I love dogs but labs are just heart-melting creatures. I will try to post a photo on the new thread for puppas. Never posted a pick b/4 so might be a challenge

All you people do is complain...

Allison, I am sure you were heart broken when you lost Bogart. I do understand the small dog thing though. As I said above, our Tanker weighs about 100lbs. He lays on my husband every evening in the recliner. Head tucked under DH chin and butt hanging over the edge of the recliner. Both get so comfy they fall asleep and snore in unison.

All you people do is complain...

Labs are the most loving and loyal dogs ever. Our 100lbs black lab, Tanker, is the sweetest and smartest dog we have ever had

All you people do is complain...

Holly, no surgery for me yet either. I have freaked a few times and it had to do with (excuse my expression here) the dumb ass advice that is given sometimes by people that push off their experiences as gospel. I have the ability to distinguish between crap advice and great advice. What I worry about is that there ppl going through the early stages of this and are going to take that crap advice just to use it as an excuse to validate the mistakes they are making in their diet and risk complications with their band. There are so many lapbanders with years of experience that give great advice. And, their advice usually starts with "talk to your dr. first". I would rather be called on the carpet by someone giving great advice than take risks. I just want to yell sometimes...AREN'T WE ALL IN THIS TO MAKE THIS WORK???????????
  20. Holy crap. Used to order the moolattes. Thought they were lower in calories than most malts. Damned DQ made me fat. Well, I guess Hardees and Taco Johns can be blamed also. Ok, and McDonalds and don't want to leave out Burger King.

    LapBand found my cancer

Turler, Thank you for sharing your story. You are such a lucky girl to have started the lap band process and to have your cancer discovered. Someone was looking down on you from above. With no symptoms, one can only guess when it would have been discovered. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and wishing you a quick recovery. You are going to be another success story. Can just tell by your attitude. I am sure that there is nothing you take for granted in your life after what you have been through. God Bless and may all your dreams come true. Karen...hugs

    Plastic Surgery

Been following your PS story, Salsa. Congrats on setting a surgery date and hope you get the results you are looking for. I also hope that you will keep us updated throughout your process. It is so helpful to the rest of us that are considering PS in the future.

    Would It Kill Me....

So many dr.s so many different plans....One of the reasons I am going with my dr. is because of his success rate. I am going to stick to pre-op and post-op to a T. He knows what he is talking about. I've come too far not to treat my band like a newborn baby. I am going to follow my dr.s instructions just as I did when I brought my babies home. Nothing went in their little tummies except what was approved of by the pediatrician.

    Freaking apple!

The reason I am looking forward to the band is that dieting has not worked for me either. I totally understand that the band isn't magic and won't to all the work, blah, blah, blah. I just want a chance at some normalcy. I have gotten down to a normal BMI (about 12 years ago) and it just made me into a HUNGRY SKINNY B****CH. I want to be a skinny not so hungry B****CH!
