  1. All I know is that my plan required the six month medically supervised weight loss program. I would give your provider a call and just ask what they require. I was a little upset to know that I had to wait that long but now am so happy that I had those months to prepare myself. I cut out anything unhealthy and tried my best to eat like a banded person during that period of time.

    Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey

Sorry to hear of your complications, BBK. Take care and hope things turn around for you soon.
  3. Congrats to all of you who just got approval and hope you all have an easy time adjusting. I worried so much about it cuz I was just barely at 40BMI. It only took 3-4 days for BCBS to approve. I feel like a weight has been lifted. I just put a request into my surgeon's office to have surgery the end of June. As soon as I find out the date, I can line up my preop visit with surgeon, preop exam with my regular doc and a visit with Anesthesia. My surgeon also requires a 10 day preop diet. 1 Protein shake per day and Clear liquids. I'm excited but also scared about the HUGE life change. I took off weight during my six month diet so I am thinking that the adjustments that I have made over that time period will help me adapt to lapband life.
  4. I have a $2,000 deductible with a small co-pay. Started this process on Oct. 2 with seminar and had to do the 6 month supervised diet. I am glad I have had the time to process all of this but now am ready to get things rolling:rolleyes2::biggrin:

    Terrible start of my day..

Awwwww, what a nice mamma! I have two children and I would do ANYTHING for them b/4 myself. Just give it all a few weeks and a few talks with your mamma and then make your decision. Good luck

    It's Kats turn!!!!

Kat. Wonderful news for you. It's all of you breaking ground b/4 us that make our future PS not seem so overwhelming. So many of my PS questions have been answered on this forum without even asking. I, too, have will have to have muscle repair and have widening scar tissue from a few other previous surgeries. I am hoping that ins. will take care of some of it. I am very tired of the rash under my panni and boobs and it hasn't even been past the mid-60's here yet. I cannot imagine what summer will bring. Please keep us up to date on your progress. I so appreciate everyone's stories and photos of their PS. Pretty brave to display hanging tummies for the world to see but the after photos are so amazing. Good luck to you, Kat. You've come a long way and deserve that last step in your journey.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

So you have the routine down by now. I am sure it has become just part of your life (with the added worry). We all hope that our soldiers get credit for what they do for our country but I just want to let you know that I truly admire you wives and mothers that hold it all together while they are away.

I would take the same stand, Pix. I have two sons in the military. We live in a rural, VERY small community. 153 of our boys were in Iraq (one of my sons included) for a year. 150 came back. If one of our local stores refused to set up a stand to benefit a vet organization, I would not patronize that place of business. In fact, if they did not cater to Girl Scouts, church groups, etc., I would frown upon that also. The time is getting closer to having your DH home. I say a little prayer every time I see a post of yours which reminds me of the fact that he is over there. A word of advice...please take advantage of the reintragation programs that are offered. They are such a help. God Bless you and your family.

    Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey

Good luck, BBK. You will look and feel so much better. My son's significant other had a reduction at the age of 24. She says it is the best thing she has ever done for herself. Wishing you sleep tonight, blessings and a speedy recovery.

    Some people, I swear...

If you look under a posters name way at the bottom of a post you will find a snowflake looking thingy beside the exclamation sign. Click on that and it will come up with a place to post a rep
  14. Hi Northern Lady, What part of MN are you from? Don't worry if you do not want to say. I'm from West Central MN. Have my last visit to surgeon (had to do six mo. supervised diet) on Tuesday and then will send paperwork to BCBS for approval. Sounds like you are doing great. Always nice to meet another from MN> Karen

    Doctor From Hell

Shorty, Had the same thing happen. My dr. copied a few things in my file (had only been seeing him for a yr b/4 starting this process). Anyway, the surgeon's office got to pages of copy from my file and that's it. It had one weight documented, a physical, a mammo and that's about it. After calling him the second time to request a letter, he sent copies of pages for the prior five years from my file that I had with my previous dr. Luckily, my ins. company said that they did not need a letter from him and went with other documentation I was able to have our hospital and clinic send in. Hopefully, when it comes time for insurance approval, I won't run into problems. Good Luck:smile2:
  17. Sounds like you are doing really well, Julie. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself.
  18. Paula...reminds me of that car commercial that has been airing lately...their song goes..."Just can't seem to get it right today". Sorry for all you're troubles. Sorry, but tell the lady at your surgeon's office she will have to wait for her money. Hang in there. Hoping you will get your fill soon.

i am staying on plan today because ...

I am staying on plan today because I have been struggling lately. I have to weigh in next Tuesday with my surgeon (last weigh in of my 6 months). My doc. insists on weight loss each month and my scale has not moved since my last weigh in. Support please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Hey Rainer, You look FABULOUS! You say WTF? I say F'um. I'm not banded yet but have lost some weight. I have had all kinds of reactions from friends, etc. Last week I thought to myself "What have I done to start such a competition". I don't bring up my weight loss to people. But when they bring it up they usually ask what I have lost (close to 50lbs. and another 50 to go) and then they usually follow with some DA answer like "Yeh, I should lose these 6lbs." Like I should have sympathy for them or something. The girl that made the statement was standing there in her low rise Levis with a perfectly flat tummy. I find it so embarrassing to walk into a group and one of my friends has to point out to everyone that I have lost. I don't want to be put on display. It is difficult to anticipate walking into a social setting. I would just as soon nothing was said and just let me lose my weight for me. Hang in there. "This, too, shall pass".
  21. Hope everything went well for you, Julie. You were in my thoughts today. Wishing you a quick recovery.

    If I were thinner I'd.....

My dream is to plant all of my flower beds without having to take a rest every 10 minutes. To walk into Macys or Nordstroms and buy a size 8 top and six 6 bottom like I did 12 years ago.
  23. Hope you start feeling better soon, 80's chick. Hang in there. Try to get some more fluids in your system. Take care

    Well don't I feel foolish

I have had a similar red faced banking experience. My son lived in Alaska and kept one an account at our local bank "just in case" he would need it. For our farm we use printed computerized checks. Well, had to run to town one day to pay a bill but could not print the check at home b/4 hand cuz accrued interest needed to be figured out. On my way out the door I just grabbed an old book of checks (so I thought) and went to town (without my glasses) and made a payment of $2000. Went into the bank about a week later and a loud-mouthed teller yelled across the lobby that I had better contact my son cuz he was overdrawn $2000. I just knew it had to be a mistake on the bank's part. Took them a week to get a copy of that canceled check. Yep, my signature. I grabbed my son's checkbook by mistake to make my payment. I am sure the teller still thinks I'm a dumb ass but six years later do not go to her teller line because she has no better sense than to yell sensitive info across the bank lobby.
