  1. I wasn't allowed steak until 6 months either. The day I hit 6 months I was in the grocery store like an addict in a drug den. Give me all the steak. I can still have a tough time with steak. It is not worth risking twisting your sleeve just to have steak early but to each his own.
  2. I've never done the chewing like that. You should just I just can't. The drinking, ehh I take a few sips when I eat some of the time. Mostly I don't do it because it will make me too full. The further you get some surgery the more you can play with the rules but it is kind of dangerous if you don't have your eating under control.
  3. Do you eat a lot of things with artifical sweeteners? Like protein shakes and protein bars? Those are the only days I have really bad gas. If I use stevia I don't have those issues.
  4. There is also just a change in attitude. Anyone that doesn't pat people on the head for eating 1/2 a pizza on day 10 was considered a bully. That seems to have died down some and people are better able to take suggestions and constructive criticism. Still with the void of people over 12 months out, there is less here for Vets, which means long term less vets will be active. I'm not even a real Vet (I think people beyond 3 years are Vets) but I am probably the furthest from surgery of people that post daily or close to everyday. If it ever stops raining and I can get my summer going, I won't be posting much either. It is a shame, this was the most active site, the other ones are dead dead dead. Oh well. At least I have my Keto groups.
  5. LOL your face isn't thin at all. People are nuts. Tell them to pound sand What they probably can't get over is the change in your shape. I had a round face before, Now my face is really square. I had to change my hair styles, earrings and glasses to work with my new face shape. Most people are not aware or eloquent enough to be able to verbalize what they are easing, so they say the easiest and sometimes the most hurtful things. You look great and really youthful. You look like you are at your perfect weight like you were never obese. Enjoy life, it looks like you are.
  6. @Mandybb It is really easy to have a day like that. Especially the further you are from surgery. We pretty much have to plan out food and always have options available. Protien bars, quest chips, etc Just learn from this time and move on, It was one day out your entire life, Just don't make it a trend. You also learned something about your sleeve today that you can hopefull use as motivation in the future. We can eat endless amounts of trash, nothing will stop you except you.
  7. Sometimes I really wonder if there is confusion on this topic. Like is 60 just a goal when you are healing and your consumption is limited or is 60 really for life? I'd starve on 40g of protein a day.
  8. I'm not sure if you look on real self but a lot of those ladies talk about the swelling and bloat. Did you get lymphatic massage post-op? If not it isn't too late to start.
  9. You can not tone or tighten true loose skin and you can't build enough muscle to fill it.
  10. Well, there is about 140 years of information on it. Which is why I chose it over RNY, longer history, easier surgery (they did it in the old days and people still lived long lives). http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1893089-overview This is not a new surgery, it is just a new use for the surgery. Just like aspirin has been around for a very long time but taking it in low doses for heat attack prevent is relatively new.
  11. How long since the LBL? I thought you were bloated with those for like 6 months.
  12. Why didn't he give you an antibiotic so you can have surgery?
  13. Google search GenPro, is is snake oil with little to no scientific proof to support their claims of being able to defy all known physics.
  14. @nonnilynn It is really easy to under eat. I track specifically so I don't under eat. I eat every 2-3 hours so I don't have the chance to get hungry and make bad choices. My "snacks" are like steak and bunless burgers. I don't really eat traditional snack foods. I'm not really snacking, I just have small protein meals all day. I think a lot of NUTs telling people no snacking really holds people back. There is not way you can meet protein goals in 3 meals. Snacking doesn't mean eating chips and salsa. A snack can be deli meat and cheese.
  15. If you are less than a year out and hungry at the time, especially immediately after surgery. You need to be on a PPI. I'm hungry often because my metabolism is super charged. I'm an active person. I eat every 2 hours, dense protein. If you eat carbs you will just want more carbs Since we can eat endless amount of carbs, starting carbs is a bad idea.
  16. I had surgery to avoid blood pressure meds. My pressure was just at the point they gave me meds, it was on the low end of high. Now my blood pressure is on the very low end of normal. Different problems, but hey no pills!
  17. @SoCalLeslie Do you weigh all of your food and track it? Do you start your meals with 4 ounces of dense protein? That is the first place to start to get back on track. If you weigh/measure track your food and use that for portion control, you don't over eat. 4 ounces is enough to fill me up and satisfy me, even though I can eat 6, I choose not to eat 6. I am talking about dense protein. I can eat endless amounts of trash if I choose to. You had surgery 2 days after me. I don't see how your sleeve could be stretched, not to the point of causing regain. I'm still losing weight at almost 22 months out from surgery. You already admitted to eating the wrong things, being resleeved or revised isn't going to save you from bad food choices, not long term. Even if you revise if you don't create proper eating habits, once that "honeymoon" period is over, also called healing, you will just start eating poorly and regaining again. Hopefully the therapist can help you with your eating. Good Luck! @akreese02 My metabolism is high to normal. I can maintain on over 2000 calories, and lose albeit slowly on just a little less, with minimal exercise. If you eat properly and increase your calories as you progress you don't damage your metabolism. I'm not guessing about my metabolic level, I have it tested. I started having it tested at first just to dispel this idea that surgery kills your metabolism and to make sure mine was on track so I couldn't use "slow metabolism" as a crutch for bad choices. There are a lot of other people that post here, like @BigViffer that maintain and lose on higher calories, but they all raised their calories as they progressed from surgery. The reason people regain on just a few calories is they keep their calories in the 800-1000 range for too long and kill their metabolism.
  18. My opinion is, there are a few things to consider. If the insurance out of pocket is more than Mexico then Mexico is more cost effective. It is also faster. The only reason to have surgery in the US is really just your comfort level. Will your primary doctor still see you if you have surgery out of the country? If there is a complication will United pay once you get back to the US? Complications are rare but they can happen. Personally if I had to jump through all those hoops, I would have just gone to Mexico. Luckily I was able to go from first visit to surgery in 8 weeks with my insurance.
  19. Short term, sure, but just drink all day, even just little sips. The more you drink the more you will be able to drink. Protein drinks count as liquids so if you can only get in limit liquids, let it be protein drinks before water. They will still hydrate you.
  20. I know but I'm sick of people on this forum jumping down peoples throats for smoking weed. It is better than Xanax.
  21. People smoke marijuana for a lot of reasons. When my grandmother was at the end of life getting her to smoke was the only way we got her to eat. Other people I know self medicated from panic attacks and other things with it, like a lot of military Vets. I'm not judging.
  22. Long story short, you are screwed. Best you can do is flood yourself with water and and try to dilute your urine as much as possible. Good luck. I don't smoke pot but I know a lot of people that do. Even with the urine cleaning stuff you can take, you need more than 5 days. If you pass this drug test it will just be the grace of God that allows it. Also I hate to tell you but loosing a massive amount of waste rapidly throws a lot of tests off. So maybe you will get lucky, but I doubt it. If anything dropping a ton of weight will have more THC floating in your system than normal.
  23. @blizair09 Right on days I drink I just end up having like 3 protein shakes to make up for the calories. It just isn't worth going hungry to drink liquor.
