  1. @JohnnyCakes No one is saying genetics doesn't play a roll. You are following me around in threads trolling because I didn't jump on board with your dumb ass leftover food delivery service you were advertising? Thanks for once again adding nothing constructive. If all she is wearing is yoga pants and t-shirts, she is not going to see her weight loss. Do you wear yoga pants? Wearing fitted clothes is part of tracking your weight. Just like getting on a scale every day or weighing your food. Most of the people that come back after regaining have failed to do 2 or 3 of the prior mentioned. People can't make it easy to regain without noticing, because once you get 20 pounds up it is a lot harder to correct than 5 pounds up.
  2. @heycrystal2052 When I get bored with food, I have protein shakes for a day, then food is suddenly interesting again. I tend to eat the same things most of the time, so I easily get bored. Even before surgery with was my cure for boredom.
  3. It is pretty important to try different weekly. If you are losing weight fast enough you will completely skip sizes. If all you wear are stretchy clothes, if the scale isn't moving you won't see the loses the way you will feel them with clothes. If all your clothes are stretchy I dunno. I feel like stretchy clothes are what let people get and stay fat. Prior generations did not wear the kinds of fabrics we wear, the clothes were built with structure and clothing was expensive. If you gained weight it was a major issue. All of my clothes now are tight (If it has stretch it has to be tight as a drum) and fitted/tailored. If I am even bloated, I feel it. It helps keep me on track.
  4. Try replacing the shakes with real food. Dense protein. Your body has to burn calories to process real food, but protein shakes are immediately available calories. That is okay immediately post-op when you can only consume very little Why are you only at 800 calories? What does your program say about that? at 9 months I was at 1100-1200 most days, actually before 9 months. You might find you start losing again by slowly increasing your calories.
  5. I think the emotional effects on women who are pre-menopausal are not really researched enough. Previously most people who had WLS were older and super morbidly obese. If you are a menstruating woman, the hormone dump from surgery really does a number on you. Until recently I don't think there have been enough young women having surgery for this to be effectively researched. I still doubt it will be. No one in the WLS community really cares about the emotional issue post-op until people are either suicidal, drug addicts and alcoholics. Those seem to be the only extremes they recognize. I'm glad you are feeling better OP.
  6. Weighing and tracking your food is really key! You can get so many extra calories just eye balling it. Do the meds make you constipated? Track you food and eating nothing but dense protein for a week and see if you drop some weight.
  7. Any diet changes? Are you eating more at once? Schedule a Dr visit
  8. Do you have diabetes or blood pressure issues? Contact your Dr.
  9. @CrissyBat No. Are your stats accurate/current? what was the most you lost? When did you stop losing? When did you start gaining? Did you ever hit goal? What do you eat? Do you weigh your food? Do you track your food?
  10. @Lovergurl Between dense protein. I am pretty unique on the forum based on most posts I read for eating like this, but it works for me. I also don't eat with other people that often since I live alone, so here is no one commenting on the fact I am just eating a pork chop
  11. @Lovergurl I was never a grazer either pre-op. I liked having one or 2 big meals a day, which was part of my problem. WLS makes it easy to become a grazer just because you eat such small amounts, that if you don't eat the right thing you will be hungry soon after. I can eat 4 ounces of steak by itself and be full for hours. If I have 2-3 ounces of steak on top of a salad, I will be hungry in an hour, because the salad adds moisture and basically makes it a slider. The food choices post-op matter A LOT for how much you can and can't eat. Dense protein is always going to be just a few ounces, everything else, will be at or almost at normal levels. I could eat a whole slice of cake or cheesecake for example.
  12. If OP ever comes back... Just switch Drs. I was 365 at my first visit, not required to lose any weight prior, followed the 10 day liver shrinking diet, 358 on day of surgery. I am in the low 180s right now. I have lost weight just fine without having to lose weight pre-op. If I could lose weight pre-op I wouldn't have had surgery. Do you weigh all your food and track it? Every single thing?
  13. Rice noodles are worse because... they are lighter, you can eat more They have slightly less fiber, fiber subtracts from the carb count They have basically no protein. 1 gram vs 7 in wheat noodles Wheat spaghetti noodles are better than rice noodles nutrition wise.
  14. You will probably be able to chug water again by year one. I can chug water basically at the same rate as pre-op at 2 years. You can probably have carbonation down the road if it doesn't bother you. A sleeve isn't a pouch. I have carbonation every once in a while, it doesn't bother me, but it isn't something I seek out or purchase on a regular basis.
  15. They rice noodles which are worse than pasta noodles. They are lighter and you can eat more. If you eat carbs and don't care go for it. They are about 44 carbs per serving, with almost no fiber less than 2 grams.
  16. Beef stew smashed up is a soft food. I could probably eat 8 to 16 ounces of it. I wouldn't eat it because it has potatoes and stews are usually thickened with flour or cornstarch. If you eat like that, you are going to be able to eat limitless amounts of food. Anything with a lot of liquid, that is pre-broken down, you can eat more of. If you were eating baked chicken breast I doubt you could have more than 2 ounces. Dense protein is always the best option but at 3 weeks, something like a baked fish fillet is a better option than beef stew.
  17. It doesn't. At least it hasn't mattered to me. Still that is the importance of measuring your food. It is insurance against over eating.
  18. No good advice here. I eat fast always have. I like my food super hot, so that is how it is. If you are weighing and measuring your portions before you eat it shouldn't matter if you eat fast.
  19. You might be okay at 4 weeks, like you could. At 4 weeks I had to take my child back to college and that was 800 miles driving over a weekend. It really depends a lot on how much you can eat at that point. 6 weeks would be a lot better. The getting in and out of your car, walking to doors going up stairs, the temp changes, are all going to wear you out. I would hate to think about you falling asleep at the wheel.
  20. I would check what the requirements are, it is late in the year so if you have to do 6 months of anything, you are going to blow your deductible this year, and then have to meet it next year. If I had any 6 month requirements I would wait to start next year.
  21. You drive for your job? How much? Early on, you might have a lot of energy but you can fatigue rapidly. It is hard to get in enough calories to fuel activity. What are your job duties?
  22. https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/stur/products/stur-all-natural-stevia-liquid-water-enhancer-5-fruit-flavors The orange mango flavor tastes just like orange juice. Order it from the store, or find it locally. When I want orange juice, I drink that.
  23. You don't need a bari Dr. Call your insurance and get a referral.
  24. By keeping your clothes you are mentally giving yourself permission to regain weight. The only person I know that lost over 200 pounds without surgery and kept it off, told me as soon as you drop a size, dump the previous clothes. I have been doing this all along and it has helped me so much. There is no going back. If I gain more than 5 pounds I will have nothing to wear. This helps stop me from going off the rails, keeps me focused and makes weight gain immediately noticeable. I got up years worth of clothes I carefully collected and loved because they no longer fit me. If I regained to the point I could fit them, but they aren't here, that would be extra insult to injury. So it is not going to happen. It is not an option. Do not keep your old clothes as a security blanket. Fully embrace your new life, say this is forever and dump those fat clothes.
  25. My alcohol tolerance is still the same, very very very high. I have never been drunk or anything close post-op. It takes a ton of alcohol for me to get drunk and I am not interested in drinking that many calories. Recently I was drinking with a guy and he was like are you even buzzed? LOL I take a lot of iron because of my anemia (had it before surgery) and I always have issues with constipation. So drinking alcohol always results in a net weight loss for me, due to increased bowel movements. Still I don't drink often and I make up or save up the calories. I also go out a lot without drinking. Everyone else will drink and I drink water, this is probably 90% of my social events. You really need to learn to handle being around people without drinking. If you have to drink to kick it, then you need to stop going out. It is really a recipe for disaster.
