    Port Area Pain!

Ok, I know this may be a dumb question but what is this "port" that everyone is talking about?
  2. My kids (13 & 24) and I are going to Atlanta for DragonCon (yes, I'm a nerd) Labor Day weekend. We get back on the 7th and my surgery is the 10th. This is the last time I'll go at the size I am!! WHOOP!
  3. When my last child was born via C Section I was in the hospital for a week. One of my very best friends didn't call, come by or send anything. TWO WEEKS after I was home she called. Still didn't ask how I was doing, she needed something. So now I'm lighter one "friend".

    Newbie who is Almost There!

I JUST figured out this morning how to message someone. You click on their name and when their profile pops up there should be a little envelope in the top right corner. I don't think you actually "friend" on this forum, at least I haven't found anything like that. ????
  5. My surgeon told me I could drive as long as I wasn't on pain meds...
  6. I just realized that I posted my surgery date three times one here! Hahaha! Sorry, guys, just really excited.
  7. My surgery is also September 10! I am so excited.

  9. My youngest daughter asked me the other day why I wear the same shirt so much. Well... Because it fits...sort of....

    Surgery in 5 hours!

    YIPPEEE!!! Good luck!!
  11. I have ordered samples for just about every protein powder made. I want to try them all before my surgery to see what I like. I know everyone says your tastes may change post op but I don't want to be starving and not like what I have on hand. Does that sound insane?

    BCBS of Florida

I have CHP with the state and I was told that BCBS and CHP have new policies regarding WLS. My approval only took 2 weeks.

    FINALLY!

I got in at just the right time. When I had my initial visit with the surgeon he got me all pumped up and ready to go then I went to talk to his surgery scheduler and she told me about visits with a nutritionist and visiting my primary physician each month and a psych evaluation and losing 10% of my excess weight. She must've seen the look on my face because she said "you know this is a 12 month process, right?" I broke down in tears. Then when I went the next week to my primary she said that my insurance had just recently changed all of their policies regarding WLS and all I had to do was a psych evaluation and proof of comorbidities. I almost hugged her...and then I cried again. Happy tears. This has been some journey already and I haven't even had the surgery yet.
  17. Hey all! I'm a 45 year old mom of two girls and have been struggling with my weight since my first child was born 24 years ago. It's been a long, depressing journey with me trying everything I could get my hands on to lose weight. I would lose and gain, lose and gain. I felt like a yoyo. A fat one! A family member had sleeve surgery with amazing results and I knew then that my yoyo dieting days were over. I went to a seminar, met with the surgeon, jumped through all of the hoops that my insurance required and FINALLY got the phone call yesterday that my surgery was approved!!! September 10th can't come fast enough!!
  18. My family and I have discussed not bringing any tempting foods into the house at least for the first few months after surgery while I'm getting used to my new eating habits. I asked them if they are going to have junk foods to please eat them elsewhere or just hide them and don't let me know they exist. They're on board with that. My husband and 13 yo daughter LOVE veggies and salads so I really don't foresee a problem...fingers crossed.

    pre op support needed.

Well I have to say, I have an amazing support group in my husband, kids, family and friends but none of them are my size. It's always good to have people who TRULY understand how you're feeling. The last few days since I got my approval from insurance, I have been glued to this forum. I love reading all of the different posts and knowing that I'm not alone and that how I feel is normal.

    Finally approved!

My surgery is 9/10. We'll be just about on the same track.

    Pre op diet

My surgeon doesn't require a pre op diet but I'm going to stop my sodas and watch what I eat from now until my surgery. The soda is going to be the hardest thing to kick. I love my coke!
  25. @@HopeandAgony, right there with ya! 2 C Sections and the "overhang". SO ready to say goodbye to that.
