  1. Hi Casper,

I am doing well. I am down 40# since my preop diet and 26.4 since surgery. Less than 1/2 of a pound and I am in Onderland! I am sorry to hear you have slowed. I am slowing down from the first few weeks but I did not stall. I am doing well with food, I am able to take in all forms of Protein with no problem as long as they are moist, I do not need to puree. That feels great! I have been walking and I feel great. I am thinking about trying some other things for exercise, I will be released this week for more activity.

    How about you?

Jewels, I am wondering about you too, are you doing better?

  2. Casper

I'm still down and out from that episode Wednesday. All day yesterday I felt the effects of the dehydration and just could not get caught up. I'm staying home from work today. I need to get caught up on my fluids today or I'm gonna be in trouble!

It is a little discouraging because I have not felt bad until this. I think I'm going to do a day or too of fluids and Protein Shakes because food is not going down either.

Thanks for listening and being supportive.

    Jewels? How are you doing?

  3. Casper,

Glad to hear things are going well. I am near you in weight loss, I am down 20# since surgery. My surgeon and NUT have not stressed Protein at all. I am only allowed Protein foods and we have certainly talked about the help in healing and aid in weight loss, but not about a daily goal. I have a guidebook they gave me and it says 60-80 is their preferred al but it really has not been stressed at visits. There is no way I could get it in with the amount of food I am allowed. I am a little concerned but at 2.5 weeks out the damage is done. I am sure in a few months I will be bald! I am trying to get used to the a of a pixie cut now!

I had a set back yesterday. I tried to take my allergy medication which is the largest pill I have to take. It got stuck. I did some of what I am guessing is frothing/sliming, that only lasted about 10 minuted and I vomitted several times. The pill never came up and I had awful pain all moring. I never had my Breakfast and stopped fluids for a while due to the pain. I left work early and slept all day. No lunch either. I had some cottage cheese for dinner and it was a little painful. Only about 32 oz of Fluid for the day, 1/2 of my reccomended daily goal. I certainly felt it this morning. i was nauseated, actually wretching, pain in my stomach and really dizzy. I am feeling better after a Protein shake and some fluids. But the lesson learnind is dehydration is no joke. The sleeve is highly tempermental. It may really take some time to figure this out. But in the meantime I am going to enjoy the side effect of weight loss and no hunger!

  4. Casper,

Im doing good. Im doing soft foods, only for a few days so far. I had some trouble yesterday with pain during eating so I am going to back off today and do Protein shakes and maybe some yogurt and try again tomorrow. Overall pretty good though. I am able to exercise-just walking- 45-60 minutes at a time and feel good with that. I am back to work half days this week and that is also going well. I do take a nap in the afternoon though. Next week I am back to full time and actually have to travel to a conference so I will need to do some planning this weekend for the food portion.

    What about you?

  5. I also had horible breath this morning that continued after I brushed my teeth. As much as I am not digging the symptoms, I welcome ketosis means I am getting rid of fat!! YAY!

I did get to eat a little, cottage cheese and rfried Beans were my first trys yesterday. Went wek\ll, I did have some strange feelings in my chest, I am going to try and take less today and see how that goes.

Victories for the day, I fit into my scrub tops today-I am a nurse and have been wearing acrub pants and plain tshirts because they are stretchy and scrub tops are not. Who knew l could get excited about a uniform? I also now weigh 2 pounds less than my husband! Which is good for several reasons, I have always felt bad when he can lose weight and I can't, I also always felt I should weight less than him and he is half a foot taller than me so of course I should weigh less!

I am on my way to my first goal of being in Onderland by my one month post op date. 8 pounds to go!

  6. Ketosis is my guess. Bad breath, body odor and strong urine for a few weeks due to so much Protein. It's a good thing, means your body is burning fat!

On the acid note, I have been having acid reflux for the last 3 days, and I too am taking meds for it. I even doubled it today since this was my preop dose. Hoping this is temporary. Need to call my doc tomorrow.

  7. Through all our bad days and good days we have to keep remembering our reason for this transformation. For a new life, another chance to get it right. A healthier you. A chance to have children.

With these thoughts they will get us through our darkest and hardest moments. Together we can encourage and relate to each other.

I can't wait until the day when we look back to say wow. All of this right now was worth every minute of it. Every hard hour, every hospital trip and doctors visit. It was all with it. We are new again.

Casper what great words of encouragement! I look forward to hearing from you and Jewels every time I log in. It really is great to hear others are having struggles even if they are different than my own. Gives me hope that I can do this.

  8. Congrats on your progress Jewels! I know with PCOS it may be even more difficult so your numbers sound great! I can't stay off off the scale either. I am down 30# from the start and haven't seen numbers like this on the scale in so long, it's addictive. I'm scared to make goals since I don't know what to expect but I think my first will be 200# or under by 1 month post op. I have 10# to go. Guess it will be easy if I can't get past clear liquids!

Hopefully I'll make progress on the intake front this weekend. So glad to hear you are feeling better. How scary.

  9. Glad to hear you are feeling better. I'm worried too. hair is important! But I am having pain with eating my yogurt and drinking Protein Shakes. My doctors recommended I go back to clears for 24 hours then try again. At least I'm not wanting real food cause I am terrified at the pain I might have. I am a little bummed because I am going to work for half days starting Monday. I am getting a little dizzy with too much activity. I need a few calories!

  10. I am 10 days out. Stopped in the hospital and didn't restart. I didn't have very high bp to begin with and only took minimal meds. Had my follow up with my PCP and bp was 114/80. He was happy with that. With future weight loos and exercise I hope for that number to continue to go down.

When your bp gets too low or you are symptomatic, like dizziness, that may be when you doc stops the meds. Or you may ask about a trial off or lowering to see what happens. Good luck!

  11. I am only 10 days out and I miss everything! I'm a huge food addict and am working on freeing myself with this "reset" of my system. I'd kill for some fries with lots of salt and ketchup. Just being real. I won't have them but that is where my head is at right now. The mental transformation I know will be the hardest. Right now I am looking forward to eating some actual food so my body feels a little more satisfied.

  12. I have been on Clear Liquids for 9 days. Yesterday I started Protein Shakes and yogurt. I take only 2-4 ounces at a time per my NUT's plan. I ate very slowly but had sharp pains in my chest. I continued with an uncomfortable stomach the rest of the day and night. Pains again today. I just saw my surgeon yesterday and all is well. The pain passes after I am done eating. Anyone else experience this when moving up to the next stage? I am post op day 10. I appreciate any feedback.
