  1. I had pain like you describe in the beginning as well, when I transitioned from clears to full liquids. My surgeon had me back off and go back to clears for a few more days then try again to progress. I had he same when moving to purees. Back off a little and progress real slow. Small bites, smaller than you ever imagined and eat/drink slowly. It is normal, and it will pass. Good luck!

  2. I know I have read that some people have difficulty with emotions post op, likely due to hormones that are stored in the fat we are getting rid of. I thought it was fairly early on? I am 11 weeks out today and I feel so emotional! I am not even premenstrual! I just feel like I could cry at any moment. It has been like this for about a week and I have no other real reason for it. Anyone experiencing anything like this post op and when? When did it pass?

I do have a history of anxiety and depression, I am medicated and have felt well under control.

  3. Follow up to this thread, I did discuss with my sleep doctor and he agreed that I can get rid of the cpap! What a huge NSV!!

Did you have to do a sleep study? Or did he review your memory card from your machine or anything?

This has been happening to me, and it's really disrupting my sleep! I was up with such a dry mouth that j can't go back to sleep without Water. When I got my APAP, my sleep really improved, but now it's making it harder to sleep. I think part of the problem is that my mask is now too big for my smaller face, but I don't want to have to buy a new mask unless I know that my apnea is going to still be a problem for a while.

I have spent a couple of nights without it on (I have been compliant with use for years), and my husband says I'm not snoring. I know that doesn't necessarily mean that my sleep apnea is gone, but it's a good sign!

I had a take home sleep monitor called an "apnea link" that along with my symptoms made the decision for him. I didn't have a mask fitting problem because I was using nasal pillows.

  4. I am 7 weeks out and for the last several weeks I have been noticing this happening to me. I know i am not dehydrated, but i had a sleep screener at home and it was much improved but not enough to not wear the mask. Mine is also self adjustable and set on a very low pressure anyway, wondering maybe I really do not need it, time to call my doctor!

  5. I am also an RN but do not work 12 hour shifts and I work in an outpatient setting. I took 2 weeks, then returned for 1/2 days for 1 week. I would recommend 3 weeks minimum. For your work setting probably 4-6 weeks. Just because I know I have a hard time getting in fluids/food and in the setting you describe it will be more difficult.

Our stats are almost identical for height and weight. I am 4 weeks out. I also have the same difficult body area. Pants are my nemesis! I could be 2, maybe 3 sizes smaller if it weren't for my lowtmy area. I have had 2 C-sections also so that exagerates this area. Leggings are about the only thing I can wear and then even some are baggy in the butt! I don't really have any advice just yet, I am going to take a yoga class this weekend with my support group and also some classes at my local YMCA for toning later this month. I'll let you know if I have success with anything. Good to hear someone having the same struggles. Best of luck!

  7. One month out and I'm in Onderland today!! Down 41 pounds since preop diet, 27 pounds since surgery day. I am feeling good. Many NSV's also. I was real skeptical that anything would ever work for me but that is changing. I am feeling good enough to exercise and am really making progress with that also. Thanks to all on this site for ideas, information, encouragement and support.
