  1. I was sleeved on June 30th, so I'm in my 4th week post-op and getting some solid foods back into my diet. I have a 1/2 scrambled egg and 1/2 piece of toast for breakfast, some cottage cheese for lunch, and then 2oz flaked tuna and a 1/2 tsp of mayo for dinner. I have a meal plan specifically written and organized by my nutritionist, which takes a lot of the guesswork out of what to eat. I'm so happy to be adding Condiments and spices back into my life!

I've lost 20 lbs since surgery, for a total of 28 lbs including my pre-op dieting. It's been feeling a little slow, but this week has really stalled my progress and I've gained almost 2 lbs this week. I don't know if it's just that my body is adjusting to eating some solid foods again or if I'm not getting enough exercise. I try to take 2 or 3 15-minute walks per day. I've been having some issues getting BMs this week as well, so I'm leaning towards the solid food issue.

I'm really missing pizza, chicken, and chili...

Hope everyone else is doing great!! :-)

Your Nut allows you bread? Bread and sugar are the number one reasons I am over weight. Potato's and rice are the number 2 reason. Lack of exercise is the third reason. I refuse to so much as look at a carb. All I eat is chicken, fish, shrimp and on occasion pork. I ate a beef hamburger (meat only) and looked at the calories and I won't touch another one. I can however eat a lean turkey burger. I miss bread but not enough to gain back what I lost so far and not enough to stall me.

Try a few days without your carbs and see if that scale won't budge.

  2. I have a big appetite but my stomach won't let me eat it, lol. My mind wants 2 pieces of chicken macaroni and cheese , greens and cornbread , or a biscuit, but my stomach can only hold a drum stick. I have managed to stay away from the biscuits and cornbread though. If I were to eat a biscuit or non Protein foods I would fill up really quickly. My Nut said after surgery our stomachs would hold a cup of food. I can't eat a half of a cup of food (not complaining). When I eat now its like an automatic switch and I stop. If it is something I really like I wait it out til that food goes down and then eat some more but that was early on when I was starving from liquids transitioning to solids.

  3. Hi All, I had VSG June 11th, just wanted to know how you guys are doing frustration, successes, etc..

I had my first doctors visit on July 9th doc was pleased that I had lost 9lbs from surgery said I was on track said I should exercise and take it easy and add more foods to my diet. I am down 30lbs now from starting weight. Doc said I should be losing about 15 -25 lb a month.

Still can't eat salad gives me the bubble guts. I am able to eat broccoli which pre surgery gave me gas.

I eat a lot of chicken, baked, roasted, and chicken salads.

Just started with a new gym and really just getting started. I am looking forward to my transformation.

  4. I was also sleeved 6/11. I cooked dinner tonight trying to be a team player. I cooked a healthy version of chicken fried rice (nothing was fried) I used Basmati rice which is supposed to be lower on the glycemic scale. In place of Water I used wonton Soup which gave the rice lots of flavor. my daughter Grilled the chicken because I am still carrying a mental pain from the scar that makes me hunch over when I stand, but thats another thread.

  5. Having my surgery tomorrow morning. Just wanted to know how long were you in hospital? Also did you feel pain in your actual stomach area other than incisions? I'm self employed hair stylists and really need to keep making money. I have a couple of client Thursday and a light schedule Friday and Saturday then off for 3 days.

I was released in 24 hours and my long scar is still painful and for the last 3 days I have been nodding and irritable because of the pain of the long scar. I doubt you will be able to keep those appointments. Wishing you well on a speedy recovery.

  6. I am 2 days out n I cannot drink all my liquids I feel full n want to vomit any suggestions also still in pain on one incision in particular

Go at your own pace, if you can't fit it all in its okay. I wan given medicine to help with the nausea but know that all this is normal. Also, I noticed trying to drink to fast made me nauseated. Go slow, slow down and just do what you can. So far so good we don't all meet our goals to a "T" just do what you can the best you can the nausea will go away the pain will slowly go away each day you will get better with new challenges.

  7. I felt the same way you did I just had surgery this past Thursday. You will be fine and your kids will see you again. This is a surgery that they have been performing on the regular for the past 20-30 odd years. This surgery has the same risk as most general surgeries. Just like they tell you when you are having a baby their are risk of complications. As long as you are a non smoker and don't have any of the other risk factors that make surgery worse you will be fine. And you will not want that iPad.

  8. I found this downloadable manual online called NEW BARIATRIC MANUAL its a pdf File it is real close to the manual my nutritionist gave me. This thing is 32 pages and it breaks everything down for you see if you can find it online.

On my day 9 I will be on pureed foods like smashed bananas, super steamed carrots mushed, maybe even broccoli steamed and mushed. I can do my smoothies and eggs soft scrambled.

I am on day 4 now and am on full liquid until day 7 thats when they have me graduating to pureed foods. but even on full liquids I can do watery grits and cream of wheats it even said oatmeal but I have never seen runny oatmeal and doesn't sound appealing at all to me.

There is a time a day for all foods you may want to eat don't sabotage your progress. I know I am going to one day meet with my hot wings again but my favorite restaurant sells them roasted or I can make my own version using chicken breast or something.

My doc's say in 6 months I should be able to eat the same things I was eating before surgery just in modified amounts. So, i know this short period of sacrifice is going to yield a lot of weight loss and add self control which is what I need a lot of.
