  1. I was a low BMI patient. BEFORE- 5'1" 195 lbs. (Aug 2015) AFTER- 123 lbs. This is the best decision I've ever made!
  2. Thank you all. It's the best thing I've ever done! I fell better, I look better, and (most importantly) my pre-diabetes is gone and my liver numbers and triglycerides are normal!
  3. I'm in a Facebook group with a bunch of people who had surgery in September. All of us had problems drinking anything hot or cold for awhile. Room temp was the way to go, with the exception of jello or sugar free Popsicles.
  4. Thanks! I can't believe it's me!

    Cruise Pre-op

I would wait for your surgery. I was still struggling with dehydration at 4-6 weeks out, and add in the warm/tropical climate...no thanks! I also really struggled with my energy level for at least the first month- maybe longer.
  6. Sugar free Jell-O was a godsend for me. Also, I had a hard time getting in enough protein, and all the shakes were too thick for me to tolerate. I found that Isopure in a bottle from GNC helped A LOT those first few weeks. It's expensive, and not everyone likes it, but it worked for me.

  11. I did a sleep study. It said I didn't have sleep apnea, but I did have a mild upper respiratory sleep disruption... I had surgery last Tuesday. That nght in the hospital, I set off my oxygen sensors 3 times before they put me on oxygen. I took it off twice in my sleep, and both times, I set off the alarms again.

    ANY AUGUST SLEEVERS

I started my liquid diet yesterday for my Aug 4 surgery. Headache is brutal!
  13. The pre-op info from my surgeon says the purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver and to ensure your stomach is empty. It also serves as a bowel prep. Your body will have an easier time recovering from surgery if there is nothing to digest in your stomach for a few days before. Then the "nothing by mouth after midnight" is so you don't vomit during anesthesia and aspirate your vomit, which can be extremely dangerous.

    No one is noticing:-(

Sometimes people just don't know what to say. For example, if someone says, "You've lost weight. You look great!" they're worried you might respond with "Did I not look great before?" Sometimes people lose weight because they're sick, so they don't want to say anything in case you are....we all just have to remember we're losing weight for ourselves and nobody else. It's our journey. Whatever people say about our weight loss may or may not be what we want to hear...
  15. I've told my job. I don't get any paid vacation or personal time, so it's unpaid time off, but I figured they wouldn't be so irritated about me being gone for a week if they know it's surgery and not just a vacation. That being said, health privacy laws prevent your employer from asking specifics, so if you told them you were taking some time off for medical reasons, they legally can't ask you anything else.
  16. I don't think any of us plan to leave. ???? I haven't told most people. My husband is supportive. My mom is totally against it. The only other people I've told are my husband's cousins. He just got lap band, and she's going to be sleeved, so I know they're on board. I'm sorry your friend isn't supportive. Sometimes people just don't understand.
  17. EDG is no big deal. I had one about a year ago.
  18. Please add me. JMorreale2@gmail.com Update: In the middle of trying to figure out when I can schedule, working around my work schedule and our vacation plans, and not hearing back from the surgery scheduler....my husband has now been hospitalized for 2 weeks. We are 500 miles from home. He has had 4 procedures, and now will have another surgery on Wednesday. The scheduler FINALLY called 2 days ago, (a month after approval), and I still have no idea when I can schedule. If my husband is released next week, he still won't be able to drive for probably a month. He will be ok, but this is a recurrence of something he fought for 3 years that we thought was over a year ago. I feel incredibly selfish saying this, but I am considering going with a friend while my husband is recovering. I have worked so hard to get here....and I spent years taking care of him. I need to take care of me.
  19. I'm 300 miles from the office, but I have called multiple times. It's so frustrating!
  20. I've now been approved since June 17, and I still can't get in touch with the surgery scheduled to schedule me. I'm SO frustrated! I started jumping through hoops in January. Now that I'm approved, let's get this show on the road.
  21. Oops...the unflavored can be put in just about anything. Yogurt, any type of juice/crystal light/flavored water, broth, soup, etc. They have recipes on Unjury.com for popcyxle a and protein jello.
  22. I am interested in the unflavored and what all I can put it in! hahaha
  23. Unjury has 2 chocolate flavors. One of them tastes like cake batter (too sweet), the other one is fine. But now I can't remember which is which! I swear I need to start a spreadsheet of all of this so I don't forget!! My husband has been in the hospital for a week, so my brain's a little fried. It looks like his surgery is postponed indefinitely. I'm still hoping for August, though I still haven't heard from my surgeon's scheduler. It's ridiculous that we submitted for approval a month ago and received approval 2 weeks ago, and they still haven't scheduled.

    Cigna questions-frantic

3 months of weightlessness as appta with your doc, but you don't have to lose a set amount of weight. I didn't lose any. It actually ended up being 4 appts total.
  25. I have been sampling protein drinks and reading the forums here, and I saw at one point that the foam makes people really uncomfortable after surgery. I am using a blender bottle to mix my protein drinks, and it does create a bunch of foam. What is a better option for mixing that won't create the foam? I want to have all of this figured out before August. HAHA
