I think about that fact that i only have to suffer for a few weeks and then as long as i eat delicious healthy food i will be happy for years to come.

My parents and sister knew when i made up my mind and they were extremely supportive. I told a few coworkers while i was in the process and a few more when i was approved. They have all been supportive and are happy for me. I wont tell coworkers i dont converse with.

Bcbsnc has been great, at the first appointment i had to have a bmi of over 40 and they only required a surgeon of something excellence which is easy to find. I was not required to lose weight by bcbsnc. my surgeon did require test, psy appointments, nut appointments. My information was sent to bcbsnc when i was complete and when i called to ask if they recieved the documents from my surgeons office they told me i was already approved. Good luck.I am 5'7" and 257 pounds. Being a teacher and on my feet all day my weight puts a lot of stress on my body and I have very little energy by the end of the day. I do not have any other health issues except for my weight. A few years ago I tried weight watchers and lost 35 pounds but gained back all of it plus another 50 pounds. I have tried nutritionists and several other changes to my eating habits but I am always hungry no matter what.
I have been looking into having VSG for the past few weeks. I have an appointment set up with my general practitioner and have signed up for a seminar about bariatric surgery through Rex Hospital. I contacted BCBS and they went over all the requirements. I would like to know if anyone else out there has had their surgery covered by BCBS NC. How difficult was it to go through the whole procedure of getting approved by them? I am so scared that they're going to deny me the surgery.

I had the same problem 3 years ago, i had to go to the hospital and was given IV. Doctor said bc i was very dehydrated and people who also run marathons are hospitalized for it. I forgot what it was called but i clearly remember they mentioned my levels should be around 120 but i have over 2,000. I was in so much pain i could not even move and i had cramps in every part of my body. Try to contact surgeon also.Nothing seems to be helping so far. Now I have muscle cramps almost everywhere. Maybe I'm getting sick.

My surgeon said since i have a lower bmi i only need the liquid diet for 8 days. I would say this time do your best to stick to it, bc if you cant now most likely you wont be able to aftwr surgery. Best of luck.My BMI right now is 47.8

What is your bmi?Hello,
mine is November 9th! Also scared and happy at the same time. A little nervous because i had to be on the liquid diet for 4 weeks and i've cheated every now and then. Hoping that my surgery will be successful and wont have to reschedule. Any advise on losing extra fat on the liver in a short amount of time?

Keep up the good work, it is very hard. I am on my liquid diet before surgery and i am hungry. Our sleeve surgery should help and make this better. I am thinking once we have surgery then since we wont be hungry we should have no problem craving Pasta, rice, ect. Wish you luck!

In my initial consultation i told my surgeon my goal weight was 180 lbs that is 100 lbs to lose.

I am too excited about having my surgery Nov 9th. the only thing i can think of is being able to go camping with my kids, and enjoying my new body. I have been wanting to go to Yellowstone National park for years now and with the help of God we will go this coming year and i wont get as tired. What is one thing you really want to do after surgery?

I have my pre op app. Nov 4 for surgery on Nov 9th. What should i expect ? What did the surgeon talk about ? Ect? Please and thanks.

I went to a group preop class Tuesday and noticed 2 ladies that i didnt think we fat but i was excisted as much as they were. I see it as any surgery, if someone tells me that they want to get a nose job, i wont tel them not to. It is their decision and if they dont like the way the look then feel free to get any surgery you want. I know wls is different but many people get different surgeries that are not necessary for health but for appearance.

My surgery is Nov 9th and my preopt diet is 60 grams of Protein liquids 60 ounces of clear liquids and 60 minutes of exercise a day.

I dont drink coffee, i dont smoke, i have not had soda in over a month. I am just and i have been drinking so much water i literally need to run to the bathroom every 2 hours to pee. 11 more days
Try drinking more Water to help with the headache. I used to fast "back in the day" and the extra Water usually helped. Have you stopped drinking caffeine? That can give you a terrible migraine! I'm on day 2, because I didn't get the letter telling me to start until Monday. I am just ready to get this over with. Feel so bad for those that have had to go through the rigorous process of dealing with insurance. Gotta be rough.Day 3 of my liquid diet and i have a headache i am craving tacos i am going to buy a jigzaw puzzle to keep my mind off of this hunger!

The stomach being reduced helps with feeling hungry but the surgery does not mentally change your cravings.

I am hispanic so i often eat hot sauce and jalapeños. Everything i eat has to be spicy if not i feel like the food is not good. I guess i will have to see how i tolerate spicy food including jalapeños after my surgery and when i start solids. Good luck, that does sound delicious!
Surgery is finally tomorrow! 11/10/15
