    Dayton Ohio area?

Congrats on your surgery. How are you doing? I am also from Dayton. I had the sleeve June 22, 2015 with Dr Siddiqui at Miami Valley Hospital. I'm 6 months out now and I feel great. My confidence has returned and I'm happier. I go in for my 6 month check up and blood work in a couple of weeks.

    June Sleevers!

Hi guys! Surgery date 6/21/15 Highest weight: 190 lbs Current weight: 150 lbs I am so happy! I have so much more confidence. Ill have my blood work next week and I'm excited to see if my cholesterol has gone down. I still struggle with my fluids and protein intake, but I'm working on it.
  3. I am a little over 3 weeks and also still get nauseous. It usually depends on what I eat/drink. I can say i feel like it's getting better for me. I haven't gotten nauseous from anything in a few days.
  4. I am 19 days post op. Last night I blew my nose and felt a pop under my largest incision followed by pain. My incision is still sealed. I called my surgeon and he said it's probably muscle pain. He said take some pain meds, ice it, and if it starts to swell, bruise, or the pain gets worse to come in to the office next week. Well the pain is worse and i'm at work right now trying to push through it. My question is has this happened to anyone else and is this normal? Should I go to the emergency room or wait 3 more days and go see my surgeon? Again, my incisions are still sealed and there's no bruises or anything, but I am in some real pain. On a pain scale I'm 6/10.

    Question... In pain.

Well I went ahead and went to the ER after I got off work. They gave me morphine for pain. They did a cat scan and blood work. They said my cat scan looked fine. They contacted my surgeon and I'll be going to see him Tuesday. Glad I went and everything is ok.

    June Sleevers!

I haven't had a BM for a while but I haven't had any solids so how can I have a bm??You may want to take something to make you go. If you're one of those people against taking meds, drink prune juice or something.
  7. I was sleeved 6/22 and it still hurts to swallow. It feels like everything I swallow is getting caught on the way down and that really hurts. It makes me not want to eat or drink anything. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do to stop the pain? It hurts just to drink water or eat pudding.

How long will it hurt to swallow?

I feel your pain. I wish I could start puree foods. My surgeon has me on the liquid diet for 5 weeks (3 more weeks). Congratulations on your journey.

How long will it hurt to swallow?

Thanks. The stuck pain feeling is still there but not as bad. I am struggling with protein too. It's pretty rough right now. I can't wait for this phase to be over with.

    Big Daddy Burger!

Although that burger doesn't appeal to me (they lost me with the egg), I believe in having a cheat meal and enjoying it guilt free every once in a while. We're still regular people, and one thing about me I'm sure will never change is my sweet tooth. Everything in moderation folks.
  11. Smh. I was sleeved on 6/22. The care tech who was getting me prepped told me I wasn't big enough to need the surgery and I should just exercise. Then she went on to say she has a daughter around my age (im 25) who she wouldn't dare let "get that mess done". I couldn't believe it. This was surgery day! Like you, I don't scare easy and I have a strong mind, but I kept thinking what about the people who aren't as strong as me? She could scare those people out of surgery talking like that. When my hospital survey comes in the mail I'm going to report her.

One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?

5 week liquid diet after surgery? Thst seems rough. I've read here from a lot of people that they r on pureed foods by week 3. I totally understand keeping u in the hospital until you were hydrated, they kept me all day until i could down two bottles of clear liquids. I would ask for some more clarity on that 5 week post op liquid diet because how are you supposed to have any energy? Like someone said earlier, post op i was on all liquids and had 0 energy. But now that im incorporating protein shakes and chewable Vitamins im feeling good. Advice is to keep a shot glass with u. Every ten minutes, get thru one shot glass of clear liquid. As protein shake, remember to keep clear liquids going along with sips from shake because my doc said the shakes can dehydrate u too. The shot glass thing really gets me goinf because its not a full bottle of liquid, just a small glass i can be sipping on. Good luck!! Thanks for the advice. I'll do it. But yeah my surgeon is pretty strict on the post op diet. Liquids weeks 1-5, soft foods weeks 5-7, and solids week 7 and on. I have noticed most other people are into purees/soft foods in a couple of weeks, but my surgeon and nutritionist are pretty stern about it. I don't want to cheat, but this will definitely test my will power. I just drank a protein shake a hour ago and it made me so nauseous. I haven't felt like that since I left the hospital. I just keep reminding myself this is a minor obstacle on my journey to becoming a healthier, happier me.

One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?

I was sleeved 6/22. I had to stay in the hospital an extra day because I wasn't drinking enough. As far as pain goes I'm doing good. Not in much pain. I still feel some pain when I get up to stand and sit sometimes. Also my chest hurts when I swallow, but it's getting better. As far as my diet, I'm struggling to get in all my liquids and protein. I'm kind of worried about this because I'll be on the liquid diet for 5 weeks. Any advice from anyone on getting in your protein and fluids?
  14. I'm 25 and I know your struggle. I was sleeved 6/22. I believe it is one of the best decision I have made for myself. I'm still very early in the journey, but one thing I have learned is you have to stick to your guns and do what's best for you. Congratulations on your journey. I wish you much success.

    TMI! Question

Lmao yes! I just had my first post op poop and I called on Jesus the whole time!

How long will it hurt to swallow?

Thank you everyone! I appreciate the feedback.
  17. Every surgeon is different, but I totally understand your apprehension. And to answer your question honestly, yes it would worry me. My surgeon is on the more strict side of the post op diet. I will be on liquids for 5 weeks, soft foods week 5-7, and solids after week 7. My advice (i am not by any means a professional) would be to do what's comfortable. My nutritionist said I can stay on liquids and soft foods as long as I need to. Maybe you could put yourself on a soft foods diet for a week or two until you're comfortable progressing to solids.
  18. Just got changed and my IV put in! Wish me luck ????

    Today is the day!

An update: They're keeping me in the hospital another night because I can't keep anything down and feel too dizzy to walk around. I know this will all pass, just wish it would hurry up and pass. And thank you everyone for your kind words

    Ladies Only: Decreased sex drive?

How long did you ladies wait after surgery before you had sex again? I'm afraid of breaking my incisions open lol.

    June Sleevers!

Wow! Every surgeon is different I see. My surgeon isn't super strict on the pre op diet, but will be very strict on my post op. Liquids for 30 days, soft foods week 5, solids week 7. My surgery date is 6/22. Congrats to you and your success!
  22. I'm curious as to what she meant by they "no longer have anything in common"? I think she's jealous of people losing weight.
  23. I'm on day 3 of 14 of the pre op diet . My surgery date is 6/22. I can honestly say I'm more excited than nervous. My diet isn't as strict as some others I've read ( I can have 2 meals under 350cal, 3 protein shakes, a cup of veggies, and 64oz of fluid a day). However, I noticed today I'm a little agitated and felt like crying earlier. Im used to having Pepsi everyday so I know I'll have the headaches that's come from caffeine withdrawal soon. I try and remind myself why I'm doing this and tell myself it'll get better.

    Noon check in 2:00pm surgery!

    Congrats! Mine is 6/22.
  25. I'm pre op and just wondering how long some of you were off of work. I know its going to vary, but I read the average recovery time is 2 weeks. 2 weeks is about the longest I can take off work so I'm hoping that's all I need. My job is pretty sedentary so I should be fine.
