  1. Happy 39th Birthday cowgrrl!

  2. My wedding ring is getting very loose on my hand. I have to wash my hands several times a day due to my job & I'm constantly scared I'm going to lose it. I can get a chain & put it on that but I know I'll miss a ring on my finger. Part of me would love to get a new ring as a sign of a true physical new beginning. However, I'm really torn & part of me would like to get my current ring resized. So, I'm curious. If you lost enough weight that your wedding ring didn't fit anymore did you get it resized or get a new one? Thanks!
  3. The one S. of Dallas is our 'home faire' although we do try & hit the one in Houston at least once.

Dr said eat anything I want! What??

My dr has said very similar things. He does want me to eat healthy & make sure I'm getting enough protein & all that but he says 'If you want a hamburger, have one'. The deal is, I use to get the big burger with a wad of fries & eat the whole thing. Now, I get a jr burger with less fries or a side salad, pull the bread off as I eat it & usually don't finish. So, I'm still eating what I want, just less of it.

Who can still eat whatever they want?

I had my 3rd fill this week & after the 2nd & definitely after this one I can feel a difference. I can still eat bread but its a toss-up as to whether or not I can get it down so usually I pass. Soda is definitely out. My Dr says that diet is OK if its poured over ice but I tried it & the gas upset my stomach so I've decided its not worth it.
  6. Hey! You must be from Texas because everyone here calls it "Ren Faire"!!! Do you do the one down by Houston, or the one S. of Dallas?

  7. My DH & I are 'rennies'. We love Renaissance Faires & all they entail. One of my 'treats' once I hit my goal weight is to buy a Ren Faire costume. However, most of these costumes include a bodice a/o a corset. Has anyone tried to wear a tight-fitting bodice or corset post-surgery & did it turn out OK? I don't want to end up damaging anything.
  8. Anyone have a good recipe for whole wheat pizza crust? I'd like to try my hand at making pizza since the regular stuff is so bad for me. All recipes appreciated!

Can anyone recommend a good exercise DVD?

If you have Fit TV they have some great All-Star Workouts you can record. I like the dance ones but they also have yoga & more cardio ones. I'm tempted to buy a few striptease or burlesque DVDs just to mix it up a bit. I tend to have a very short attention span, exercise-wise so I need variety.

    Wii Fit

Anyone else having trouble getting low enough with the rowing squats? I've tried to do them twice but for me to get my center of gravity that low my butt would practically be on the board. I'm a bit tall for a chick (5' 8") so I don't know if that's the problem or not. My kids do great on it but I cannot get that low.

    Wii Fit

You don't jump on the board. It specifically tells you not to jump. You don't really stomp either. Just stepping on & off. You can jog (not on the board but with the remote in your hand) but I never do the jogging & still feel that I get a good workout.

How are you consuming your protein?

I have discovered the flavored tunas & I eat those a lot with a salad. My kids love them as well so if I'm not careful they're gone in no time!

how long for lapband to become reality....

Approximately 6 months but I could have had it sooner if I wasn't a preschool teacher & needed to be able to lift. I had been thinking about it for about 2 years. A brief timeline: -January: Decided to try & apply & see if I could be approved. I knew from reading lap band talk that it could take 6 months & I wanted to have it done in the summer. -February: Approved with no delay. Call to schedule but they aren't scheduling as far out as I need. -April: Call back & get scheduled for 1st week in June -End of May: Go in for pre-op appointment -1st week of June: Surgery Somewhere in there I did go to a seminar but I don't remember when. I'll have my first fill in late August.
  14. I will be the first to admit that I was an idiot & I did push it more than I ever should have. Hopefully someone can learn from my stupidity! The scene: A Renaissance Festival The food: A sandwich with sausage & peppers What happened: I had not really had trouble with bread before, although I had been careful & thought that this would be OK as well. Apparently I took too big of a bite & OMG the pain!!! I took 2 very small sips of Water hoping that would help but it did nothing. I didn't want to slime in public or in front of my kids so I told them to tell DH I'd gone to the bathroom & I made a beeline for the 'privies'. I hit the handicapped stall & started massaging my breastbone & pacing. Thankfully, in a minute or two, it seemed to 'plop' into my stomach. I have now sworn off bread unless its a multigrain (per drs suggestion) & I'm working hard to remember to take very small bites.

    Help me eat breakfast!

I was getting ready to post the exact same question. I don't like eggs either so breakfast can be a challenge. I have found applesauce with a bit of ground flaxseed mixed in to be good or some cream cheese on a piece of wasa cracker. Occasionally I'll do Slimfast but I tend to save that for trips when I can't take all my 'go-to' foods with me. My dr also recommended drinking something warm in the morning (even warm tap water). I haven't had a problem with constriction or PBs but I haven't had a fill yet so that's probably going to change.
