    Fast heart rate

I didn't think I was dehydrated either because they gave me fluids while I was in the ER and I still had the rapid heartbeat throughout that 2nd week.

    Fast heart rate

Yes, I experience some discomfort, pain from gas, and a very rapid heartbeat. I experienced this 1 week after surgery. I was going to head to the gym and do some walking. However, by the time I got to my car from walking up 5 stairs and then down 5 stairs, I was extremely winded. It was difficult to catch my breath. My surgeon's office sent me to the ER immediately. Wanted to make sure it wasn't a blood clot or pneumonia. However, I was mildly dehydrated. The rapid heartbeat was gone by the end of the week.

    The 3rd Week Stall

Thank you @miiasan. Your post is very encouraging. How long ago did you have your surgery? I can only imagine how frustrating that was only after the 1st week of having surgery. Keep up the good work!

    The 3rd Week Stall

Oh no, not the queen @@Djmohr! Thank you for the formula. I will use that starting tomorrow. I'm 5', so that's 60 inches. How many stalls have you experienced? How long was each stall?

    The 3rd Week Stall

@Inner Surfer Girl, thank you so much! I said the same thing to myself, "stay off the scale!" I've been eating Protein 1st. I've been taking my Vitamins. I just started taking my Calcium as on instructed. I'll also start taking Biotin next week. I'm excited for this journey. I understand that I'll experience stalls throughout my weight loss journey, I'm just frustrated. But I will try to embrace the stall. Thank you again!

Gerd or gastritis before RNY surgery

@JohaAidenMommy...you're welcome. I had my RNY done on 10/12. I've lost 20 lbs so far. I've also been in a stall for almost 3 weeks.

Gerd or gastritis before RNY surgery

@@JohaAidenMommy, you will be just fine. I had the exact same worries. I researched for months about the sleeve only to strongly suggested that I have RNY due to gerd and Gastritis. You won't be too skinny. Take a look at some before and after pictures in this bypass forum. Definitely motivating.

    What is your full signal?

I'm 4 weeks post op. During the first 2-3 weeks I didn't have that full feeling. I just used my timer to eat, whatever stage I was on, my nutritionist gave me a time of how long I should be eating at each stage. Currently, I still use the timer; however, I get a lil throat burp when I'm done. Not to be so graphic.

Liquids and protein 3 days post op

I have several food allergies so I had to find an alternative to whey Protein. I did Mill based protein which was lactose free. It's called Organic Valley Organic Fuel, they come on vanilla and chocolate. They're ready to drink Protein shakes that have 26g of protein. I purchase them from Whole Foods. They're a lil on the expensive side, but I really have no choice. These shakes are delicious! I use orange vanilla Mio in the vanilla. It tastes like an orange Creamsicle. Mmm! I also purchased sugar free Torani syrups for other flavorings. Some other members of this site use Protein H20, Isopure, and Syntrax nectar (sp). My surgeon says if you can drink 4 oz an hour (which is 1 oz every 15 minutes) and you're awake for 12 hours you can get in 48 oz. I began to increase to 5 oz an hour to get in 60 oz. Hope this helps.

    Tomorrow is my day!

Good luck to you! I'm 4 weeks post op. It was probably the easiest surgery I've experienced. I was walking 2 hours after surgery. I was released the following day. I was able to keep my water down. No nausea (which was shocking). I get nauseous so easily. The gas pain was the uncomfortable part of the experience. I walked so much to help. It was moving, but not releasing. I took gas strips it helped, just slow moving. I didn't require any pain meds once I was released from the hospital and that was only 24 hours later.

Gerd or gastritis before RNY surgery

Hi I had severe GERD and Gastritis. I'm 4 weeks post op. I still have it, it's not has severe as it was. I use to take 40 mg of Pritonix (Pantropazole) 2x a day. Since my RNY I only take it once a day. My surgeon says I may have to take it about 3 months after surgery. But so far so good. RNY was my only option after my EGD revealed the gastritis and Gerd. My surgeon changed my procedure from sleeve to RNY.

    Incision Glue

Yes I would give them a call. The glue remained on my incision, but the glue around my incision started to peel off as well. Almost 2 weeks before it started peel completely off.

    Vegetarian/Vegan RNY Oct. 2014 surgery

The ready to drink tastes much better than the powder. I'm not vegan, but I'm allergic to whey protein and my dairy intake should be lactose free. I tried the chocolate and vanilla. They were ok for taste. Just be sure that there's 2 different kinds of ready to drink protein shake. One has 16g of protein and the other has 25 or 26g of protein.

    Heart palpitations ?

I was having palpitations one week post op. They stopped during my 2 week post op. My doctor told me it was probably from not getting enough of my fluids. The 1st 2 days after I was discharged from the hospital, I didn't get in my minimum fluid intake. After getting some IV fluids. The palpitations started to subside. So far completely gone. I'm 3 weeks post op.

Oct 2015 RNY....How are you doing?

I had my surgery on 10/12. My HW: 248, SW: 235 CW: 221. Immediately after surgery I had gas pain for about 3 days, it started subside afterwards. I returned to work the following week. I haven't dumped on anything. If course 1st week was all fluids; 2nd week, I was able to incorporate yogurt, loose oatmeal, and applesauce. The 3rd week, I was able to have tuna or salmon, 1/2 egg, 1/4-1/2 toast or 2 small crackers. This week and the next 2 weeks, I can have flaky fish, soft cooked veggies, canned fruit no juice, soft cooked mac and cheese, quinoa, hummus, small pastas with tomato sauce. I'm looking forward to some real food. I started walking 1 mile a day last week. Thus far, I feel wonderful!
  19. Congratulations on with your weight loss! Really? This week starting Monday, I can have flaky fish, Mac and cheese (really soft), quinoa, hummus, small soft pastas with tomato sauce, and all the other foods from week 1 and 2. Tuesday will be the beginning for week #3 The first week was difficult for me to get in all my liquids. My physician assistant explained to me that if you're awake for 12 hours, then you need to drink 4 oz each hour. Now we need 64 oz. My thoughts are to increase to 5-6 oz hour we can get in our liquids. I can get in 23 oz by 12 noon each day. However I struggle with the rest of the day. My students require so much more attention and I lose my focus until about 4pm (when they're dismissed from school). Lol! I normally finish 11-12 oz by then. My goal is to finish (3) 23 oz a day. I've been able to do that only 3x this week. Normally I'm still getting in 48 oz. It's tough
  20. For my last meal, I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries from Five Guys. The weekend prior, I went to Cheesecake Factory, I had chicken alfredo and added sun dried tomatoes. They have humongous servings (took 3 days to finish). I completed my meal with their turtle cheesecake. Delicious!

    October List of Surgery's

Wow that's a lot of protein. I'm only getting in 4 oz of protein 3x day, that's only 12 oz a day. The bottle is 26g of protein. I'm finding one bottle and an 1oz from another bottle a day. My foods are yogurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese. That's it for now. I'm nowhere near that amount of protein. This will be my last week of protein shakes. My bypass diet says I'll only be getting my protein from my foods. However, I'm only getting in 1/4 cup of food 3x a day. For my 3rd week I can have eggs, tuna, salmon, toast, crackers. Salmon is 14g of protein for 2 oz. That's a lil over 50g and adding the eggs... I guess I can get close 60g of protein. I'll take any suggestions. I can't do Isopure or Proteinh20 because I'm allergic to whey protein.

    October List of Surgery's

Thank you for sharing. Getting ready for work and by the time I get to my car, I'm so winded. I'm glad to hear it's not only me. Hopefully that should subside soon. How far along are you in post op? Are you exercising yet? If so, what are you doing?

    October List of Surgery's

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I was only off for a week from work. I literally returned to work 1 week after surgery. I only did half days though, but I'm exhausted once I'm home and I take a very long nap before picking up my daughter from school. My recovery has been amazing! I only had gas pain when I was discharged, which was the day after surgery. The gas pain was the WORST!!!!!! At home, during the night, I'd walk and walk to help subside. I took Gas X, which moved it, but it wouldn't pass. Felt like a brick was sitting in stomach and back. By Thursday it was just about gone. My RNY was on Oct 12th, I've lost 14 lbs. It's tough getting the fluids in. I've lost my taste for my Mios and Crystal Lights, jello, and the popsicles....so it's just water and protein shakes. I've tried a few baby spoonfuls of yogurt and very loose oatmeal. That's been great! I haven't been hungry at all, I wasn't missing food or anything until yesterday. I started craving a grilled cheese sandwich from Great Harvest.???? Oh well. In week 3, my diet includes an egg or 1/2 an egg, canned/packaged tuna and salmon. 1/4-1/2 toast or crackers, which begins on Tuesday. I haven't done much exercise yet, I've had one minor complication. Well let's hope it continues to be minor. Monday is was planning to go walking on the treadmill. Something.....not too fast. However, after I dropped my daughter off to school, I realized I was very winded and had an accelerated heartbeat. Has anyone else experienced this? My surgeon's office had me go to the ER. They thought possibilities of pneumonia or blood clot. Thankfully it was neither. Not really sure it was. Maybe just my body still healing. Please share with me if you experienced any of this.

    Week one post op essentials?

I'm 6 days post op, I needed something to help me keep track of my liquid intake. I started using the medicine cups they give to use in the hospital, but that was a bit much because I needed something more practical. I'll be going back to work and I'm not going to use those. I downloaded the app... Baritastic. This helpful. I also used a shower chair, so make sure you can have good steady balance while you're showering.
