  1. 11 Months today. Wow. Let’s hit those stats: Starting weight 251 Surgery day weight 238.8 Weight today – 182 Total loss – 69lbs I don’t know where to begin so I am just going to ramble on and see where I wind up. I am coming up on one year and I am very happy with my progress. 69lbs is pretty fucking nifty. Did I think I’d be further along, sure but did I ever really think I’d get “here”? Honestly, no. I mean I hoped that I did but I still look at the # on the scale and find it hard to believe that it’s correct. I still try on clothes that are too big for me when I am shopping. Yet it is and that just thrills me to bits!!! I am not done or completed yet. I will continue to work and make the effort. It’s not easy and I am ok with that. I am willing to put in the work and the effort. There are certainly days when I want a cupcake (and I mean a good one) but I’ll physically feel like shit and the thrill certainly doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to. So I seek my thrills elsewhere. I am happy to be back to yoga, it’s been awhile. That stupid car accident threw me for a bit of a loop and although I’d love to be hitting the weights I know right now just isn’t the best time for that. Instead I have been doing 90 minutes of Vinyasa twice a week, walking a lot (I mean really a lot, my son and I play Pokémon Go) and I am going to go back to my squat/ab challenge tonight. I really want to push myself to hit my surgeon’s first goal which is 175. I am only 7 lbs away. What I’d really like to do is blow PAST that but all I can do is try. What frustrates me at 11 months out? That my BMI is 32.2 and I am still considered “obese”. What the fuck!!! LOL. But I realize that it’s obese for “me” and my height and where I am now and where I will be. I realize I didn’t think this was ever going to be a quick fix. I realize that I am more than halfway to my goal. Here’s to next month…holy crap 1 year surgiversary here I come!!!!

  19. Sorry it has been awhile since I have popped in here. The facebook group keeps me busy. I am officially 15 days post op. On purees (2 more weeks to go) and overall doing great. Tummy is still a little bit tender but I figure that is par for the course. I am down 12lbs since surgery. I am doing a pretty decent job of hitting my water and protein intake, Eating all my vitamins and itching to get back into the gym (Dr. said one more week and to ease into it). Hope everyone is doing great!!
  20. How are you doing it? I'm having such a hard time sticking to my pre-op liquid diet and I'm extremely worried I won't loose but gain weight because my brain is freaking out and making me hungrier and I'm eat what I'm not supposed to. In the morning I'm ok and having my Protein shake but then I start getting hungry for real food and I begin to eat. Any suggestions??Hang in there! Just keep telling yourself that it is only 2 weeks and you can do this for just two weeks or break it down into a day at a time. I just have to make it through today... then repeat gain tomorrow. Are you getting enough protein? I am using the Premier Protein shakes and that seems to help a lot. The first couple of days are the hardest usually as your body gets used to it. Your head is another matter - no tv because of all the food commercials, no thinking (or obsessing as I believe a more appropriate term for a lot of us) about food and if your thoughts go there, do something active with your mind to keep it busy (crosswords, solitaire, reading an exciting book, reading blogs to see that you are not alone and you CAN DO THIS!). I keep telling myself that I don't want to contribute in any way shape or form to my doctor having to do an open surgery vs, laproscopic because my liver is too big if I don't follow the liquid diet as this will cause a much more painful surgery and longer recovery time. So I am looking at that as a bigger concern than wanting to eat something I shouldn't for those two weeks. How are you doing it? 22. I am a lot better today then yesterday!! Yesterday I had really bad nausea! It was horrendous! But today it is gone. I got up and walked about 5 times yesterday. I have been up and about today too and had sips of broth, tea, protein drink and jello. So far so good! I should be out of here tomorrow!!!
