    Any Regrets?

Hello - I am quite new to the surgery. Had it on Tuesday May 26, 2015 - the hardest part for me was the nausea due to the anesthesia. I got home and took a total of 2 doses of the pain meds. Once I figured out that the pain meds made me nauseous, I stopped taking them and have not looked back. Between the pre operative diet and as of 2 weeks out I am down 35 pounds. I am really struggling getting in my Protein, but have figured out some strategies that work for me and I do really well at getting my Water in. There is some fatigue as you recover for a few days, but I am back at work and am humming right along. The hospital where I had the surgery is too far to go for me to do support groups, so I found a group close to my work and went last night. They were fabulous. It is weird coming back to work and people noticing my weight loss - some have even asked me quite loudly about it; however I am very grateful to have the opportunity to take charge of my health.
  2. I had my sleeve on the 26th. I have tried pintos mushed up. Can only do abt 2 oz with a little cheese. Stuffed! Can hold abt half a scrambled egg. Have not been able to get the amt of protein in, but am getting a little closer. Not hungry either. We have to take advantage of the no hunger period and get off as much as we can my doc says. I am amazed!
  3. I drink baby sips. It takes all day! I don't have hunger either. Food commercials don't bother me either. I can only get down like half an egg at this point.
  4. Went to surgeon today for 1 week post op. Am down 30 pounds since May 12. That is the pre op diet plus this one week. Had a really tough time keeping anything down at all til Friday. Incisions look good, and they are pleased with progress. Was moved onto soft proteins, egg, fay free beans, low fat cheese, fat free cottage cheese, and no more broths or jello they said. I can now add fat free milk to my protein drinks too.
  5. Best of luck, bvenegas. The first few days are a little rough, but manageable! You will do great!
  6. I have one too. It is like a big chunk out of there. It is funny.
  7. I cant do yogurt or anything not clear yet. I have really struggled to get fluids in, but I am trying
  8. I have been peeing a good bit since surgery on Tues the 26th. I think it is due to all the iv fluids too. Yesterday got in 38 oz fluid and 4 oz jello. Today I have done 11 oz water, 8 oz broth, 10 oz sugarfree powerade so far. The broth seems the kindest. Warm feels nicer than ice cold.
  9. Coughing is actually pretty ok, makes sure lungs are clear. My tummy is very loud too. I am thankful though that I can feel the restriction. Warm better than cold right now
  10. Hang in there. This sounds weird, but try moving your tummy gently, rubbing it, gently. See if the gas will move down a little. When I go to pee, I bend over gently and the gas moves some. See if this helps any. Prayers for you.
  11. I don't do the codeine, makes me nauseous. Just the tylenol, but it REALLY helps a lot.
  12. Try getting liquid tylenol. The pain mads made me sick too. See if walking helps too. Once the gas starts moving it feels lots, better.

    Post-Op check in! Sleeved 5/26/15

I am feeling about 70 percent today. Moving around, showered, walking some.
  14. I was sleeved Tuesday. Am getting stronger and beginning to feel better. I got in 32 oz of liquid, 4 oz protein shake, and 4 oz jello yesterday. It took 15 hours, but I am working to get to at least 64 oz liquid per day like the md wants.

    Post-Op check in! Sleeved 5/26/15

I turned corner today and had a tremendous amount of gas pass. That helped with pain a ton.
  16. Turned the corner today. Was sleeved Tuesday. Really struggled with nausea and dry heaves, but have figured out the pain meds were making it much worse. Have been doing much better drinking today.
  17. Yay B 52! So glad you found your right spot!
  18. Stay ahead of the pain. It makes resting easier.
