Music to sweat to...
G'day all.. Just a question for you regular exercise type folk out there.. Is it weird that I'm setting myself musical goals in the exercise department? Let me explain... I've been concentrating on weights and muscle retention since I got gutted.. I've not been too concerned with 'fitness' because of my size... (For those who don't know, I started out at over 500 pounds - 255kg was actually heaviest ever) Anyway, as my fitness was S**T, I decided to change the way of setting my goals as far as time spent doing cardio goes... I started by finding a playlist on my Spotify that was about an hour long. I came up with Green Day's Bullet In a Bible album. (1h 4mins 56secs).. I jumped on the stationery cycle, pressed 'play' and off I went... American Idiot came and went, no worries... I was flying along until about half way thru Jesus of Suburbia when all of a sudden, I was done.. And I mean done!! I managed to struggle my way thru to the end of the song and this became my minimum... Now, at this time, I wasn't looking at how long each track was or anything too technical like that... I just knew that tomorrow, I had to get further than the end of Jesus of Suburbia before I was allowed to finish.. A few tomorrows came and went, as did Holiday, Are We the Waiting and St. Jimmy, and suddenly I was up to 25 minutes.. Still I had no idea how long I was actually cycling for, but I was setting, and reaching, my goals each day... Well, Longview, Hitchin' a Ride, Brain Stew and Basket Case all became daily cycling songs over the ensuing couple of weeks... And then Monday came... A new week... A new target... King for a Day/Shout was to be my next victim.. Yep, all 8mins and 47secs of it... I was aiming to increase my cardio by over 20% without easing off on the resistance... So away I went... Now, this song isn't the slowest around... And for someone who dabbles in drumming, the challenge was to keep pace with the beat of the song... For the love of God, who made this rule??!??!?! Well, I survived... I'm not sure how... In fact, today I not only survived thru King for a Day/Shout, but I also managed to leave Wake Me Up When September Ends in my considerable wake... So all of this means two things... 1. This morning I rode the stationery bike for 52mins 27secs without taking a break. For a guy that still weighs around 370pounds, that's some kick-arse kinda s**t... 2. I only have Minority, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Good Riddance (12mins 29secs total) before Bullet In A Bible officially becomes my bitch... Good Riddance hey? Kinda fitting, don't you think... Thanx for reading...

When can I join the gym after my gastric sleeve surgery
I'm gonna repeat what's already been said... Ask your doctor/surgeon... He's the ONLY one who knows exactly what you went thru... The rest of the world can only give you their opinions or experiences... We're all different... Yes, we all had the same procedure, but the details could all be vastly different... Only YOUR doctor/surgeon can give you the best information about YOU... Having said all that, I was back at the gym after two weeks, but with NO WEIGHTS... Good luck to you...

Am I drinking too fast?
Everyone's post-surgery instructions are different... I'd assume that you should be sipping slower(longer breaks between sips) and therefore making your 1oz last longer than 3 minutes... But then, I'm not your surgeon/nutritionist... Your best bet would be to ask them... Maybe give it a day or so, gather a few questions (you'll have some), and call them once with a few queries rather than a few times with one question each time.. Good luck to you @@Ilovecats1985 And welcome to sleevehood...

Weird question
I'm no expert but it sounds pretty normal to me... The liquids go down MUCH easier and more comfortably than the solids will (once you get there of course)... As far as stretching the stomach, there's a thousand different opinions out there... My thought is that, while you're only four days out and eating such foods as you are currently, stretching of the stomach would be virtually impossible... I'd assume it would split at the seams before it would stretch.. Of course, I'm no doctor... If it's really worrying you, give the surgeon's office a call.. And.. Welcome to sleevedness!!!

Re-Launch Rant (tho it didn't start out as such...)
Ok, I admit it... I’ve been slack. For the past six weeks, I’ve not been concentrating on ANYTHING related to my post-sleeving care. I’ve not been making sure I’m having enough protein… I’ve not been getting all my Water in… I’ve not been thinking about what I eat.. Yes, I’ve still been going to the gym… Yes, I’ve still been losing weight… But what if I’d stuck to my plan all along and kept up the water/protein/good food thing? How much further along would I have been? Relatively speaking, six weeks is a long time. It’s 17(ish)% of my sleeved life. 17%. It doesn’t sound like much. It’s not even a fifth of something. But think about this… What if I was 17% ahead of where I am with my weight loss… What if, instead of being thrilled that I’ve lost 150lb, I was celebrating losing 175.5 lb. That’s nearly 80kg in my terms. And it’s 17% more… But fear not… I know what the reality is… The reality is that I’ve nobody to blame but myself. I chose to not get my Protein in… I chose to not keep check on my water… I chose to not watch my calories… (And I also chose to drink alcohol a few times in there too… Shhhhhh) Well you know what… I’m choosing again. Actually, I chose it last week. That’s when I started a countdown in my profile feed. To those who noticed it, it would have been random and quite possibly, nonsensical. But to me, it was making a choice. Re-making a choice. Call it a do-over.. A re-launch.. Call it whatever you like As of 0445 this morning (when I woke up), I’ve taken responsibility for myself again. No more coasting thru this sleeved life.. No more taking losing weight for granted.. No more forgetting where I came from.. What I came from… How far I’ve come… This sleeve shit is NOT easy!! This sleeve shit is NOT cheating!! I have lost this weight… Me.. Nobody else… And you know what? I’m about to lose a whole lot fu***ng more!!!

@@Elode Ohhhh yeah... It IS in the title... In that case I retract everything I've said... Well, not everything... Let's face it, some of the crap I said was spot on!! weight
Hi @@fharris My 'trick' has been to stay right away from the scales. I was sleeved in late Feb this year and have only weighed myself twice in that time.. The first time was apoprox 6 weeks post surgery and the other was maybe six weeks ago (I'm not 100% certain) I could tell all along that I was losing weight by the way I felt and the way my clothes started to hang off me. But by not weighing, I've missed out on all the angst re stalls and such things... I've had a few 'bad' weeks lately, so I've not even thought about weighing in. On Monday I'll be 'relaunching' my focus on what I consume and will probably leave my next weight check until just before Christmas. I know this way is not for some (most) people, but it's really worked for me. Good luck with your new mission... And keep up the Water and protein!!!
