If for no other reason, This is as good as any

Aaaaaaaaannnyway... Well done on the losses to date mate. You're doing well!! Like you, I don't have a lot of 'before' pics. And at this stage of the process, I'm not ready to entertain the thought of posting the ones I may have. As far as your classlessness and your immaturity goes... Embrace it. You're only young once so you may as well make it last for as long as you can!!! As of Saturday just gone, I've been classless and immature for 46 years and don't look like slowing down (or classing up)... And for the record, here in Australia, we're known for our CunningLinguistics... Or maybe that's just me.. Enjoy everything mate, especially YogaLadyLunches.. Kinda...

    Am I doing ok

G'day Woodland, Firstly, I'm no expert. All I can give you is my experiences... And here they are... I'm 20 weeks post-op and am yet to feel hungry. Not once in 20 weeks. So I'd not be concerned about that. Your assumption that you're still swollen sounds about right to me. And don't forget, the difference between not full and overly full can be as little as one or two TEASPOONS of fluids/food. So, seeing that liquids move thru the sleeve much quicker than solids, it's possible that if you continue to consume fluids at that rate, you may never feel full. (I mean, you DEFINITELY will once you hit more solid foods.. I promise!!) Two walks and a nap sounds pretty spot on as well. So, in my completely non-exoert opinion, you're doing fine. If you're really unsure tho, give your Doc or NUT a call. They really do know stuff... Good luck with it... Keep us all posted on your progress... Kinda
  3. I'm one of those people who have chosen to NOT nominate a set weight. When sleeved, I was a big boy... BIG!! So my aim is for functional, healthy, fit and active... Also, with the addition of muscle mass and the huuuuuge 'apron' that will be around my formerly fat belly, a goal weight will be difficult to judge... Oh ok, I'd like to be a fit, healthy, reasonably muscular 110kg (240-ish pounds) There, I've said it!!! I can dream can't I??

How much do you eat at a meal?

I'm 20 weeks post-op today and am still sitting at about 1/3 to 1/2 a cup per meal. I get most of my Protein via the shakes as eating meat doesnt really sit well in my stomach. Therefore, what I eat is mainly vegetables. I thought my capacity would have increaesed by now but it seems to be staying at about the same as sleeve time. That's most definitely not a complaint!! I've not once been hungry post-op. Yes, I've had 'the fancies'... But I've not been hungry at all. To the point where it's sometimes a chore to eat.. Anyway, that's where I'm at... Kinda...

G'day Niki.. As everyone so far has said, yes, it gets easier... Just remember that this is possibly the best choice you've made in your life... That will get you thru the tough times initially... And once you start to lose weight... Once you see and feel the changes, you'll not doubt yourself again... Good luck to you... And remember... There are plenty of people here who have gone thru the same or similar... If you EVER need support or information, head here... You'll always find a friendly ear/shoulder... Take care... Kinda...

    AM I DOING IT RIGHT?

I've no idea if I had a stall or not. I was sleeved on Feb 25 and didnt weigh myself for three months... In fact, that's the only time I've weighed myself... I can feel and see how much I'm losing.. My goals are more long term than daily/weekly/or even monthly... My second weight check will be a week shy of 5 months post op (July 17).. I'm aiming for a 50kg (110 lb)loss... Good luck to you... Kinda

Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?

I know I'm a little late to this conversation but when I was doing my pre-op research, I found some information that has been an absolute lifesaver in my "I wonder what is happening" kinda moments... The attachment is pretty big so I'll not post it here, but if you (or anyone else) has recently been sleeved and is looking for additional information, PM me and I'll email it to you. Kinda..

    Protein powders and shakes

I'm using Syntrax Matrix in the strawberry Cream and Bananas & Cream flavours. If you use a little less watr than what they recommend, the flavour is quite good. 23g of Protein and 115 cal in each serve.. I have 4 or 5 per day It doesnt leave a lot of room for food, but with the other supplements I'm taking plus a few vegetables, I'm getting all the nutrition I need and, more importantly, I'm dropping weight. I'm approaching my first big goal of 50 kg (110lb) lost by my birthday (Jul 18). I was sleeved Feb 25.

    Fluid volume, seems huuuuuuuuge!

The short answer is "yes"... WHen I was in hospital recovering, I was very careful with my fluids. They had given me a choc milk (300ml) at breakfast and the doc asked me why I'd not finished it. I told him that I thought I was supposed to be taking it easy with my intake. He replied that yes, I should take it easy, but that as long as I sipped slowly, that would be fine. The fluids/yogurts/shake go thru you differently to solids. Keep doing what you're doing... You'll REALLY notice the difference when you get to food that is more solid. Good luck with it all. Uncertain futures

CanyonBaby, I'm only new to this site but in the short time I've been here, I've noticed how helpful and supportive you've been to all who have needed it. I hope that God/The Universe/whoever returns it to you in whatever measures you require it. Thoughts and love are coming at you from here in Australia. Take care. Kinda...

    Hi, I'm Cryss!

G'day Cryss.. Welcome!! I'm pretty new to this site as well. I've been "sleeved" for three months and on this site for just a couple of weeks. Good luck to you and well done on making the decision. Like most people here, I'm always available to answer questions, vent to, or for just a chat... Looking forward to seeing your updates. Take care... Kinda...

    Eating is a chore!

I'm 13 weeks post-op and have virtually no interest in food. I have my Protein shakes because I know I have to. I drink my Water because I know I have to. I eat because I know I have to. I have what I assume are the new versions of "cravings"... Potato chips, flaky pastry and quiche to name but three. Most of the time the cravings pass without being satisfied. But if it weren't for the cravings, my interest in eating would be negligible. Even the fact that I'm an ex-chef who can make a gourmet meal from whatever is in your fridge/freezer/pantry doesn't help. Eating just doesn't interest me. Of course, that could all change as time goes by. But for now, I have to sit here sipping my Protein shake while my work mate devours his Big Breakfast - Two eggs, sausages, double bacon, grilled tomato, 2 hash browns and buttered sourdough. (It's 0845 here). Enjoy!! Kinda...

    I used to fit these.

With your permission, I'd like to use your pic as motivation if/when things start to get on top of me. While all the encouraging words and stories are, without doubt, educational and helpful, sometimes a simple picture (such as yours) can do so much more than words typed onto a page. What you have achieved is simply incredible. You are an amazing young woman who should be respected and so very, very proud. Thank you for sharing. Kinda...

    Cherry nectar

I've just started a tub of the Syntrax Matrix Bananas & Cream flavour and one of the strawberry Cream flavour. Both are pretty good... Certainly better than most of the other flavours I've tried. A little watery of course but no more so than the others. I'd recommend them...

Apologies. Not returning. Mea Culpa. Breast beaten.

I'm only new so I've not said anything... But that 'mud flap' thread both amuses and concerns me... Please don't judge all men on that one question... Especially me!!! ????

    Not Weighing

I was 12 weeks post op yesterday (Wed Feb 25 was op day).. I 'weighed in' at my 4 week check up. I lost 15.2 kg (33lb) in the first month. I was well pleased with that. I've a massive amount to lose and that was a great start!! However, I've not 'weighed in' since then. To be honest, I'm scared to. What if I haven't lost more? Worse, what if I've gained weight? Now, I know I'm being paranoid. I can tell by the fit of my clothes and by the way I feel that I've lost weight. And again, I believe I've lost a good amount. But I'm still hesitant to jump on the scales. Yesterday I decided it was time to bite the bullet and make an appointment with my nutritionist. I'm booked in for 1000hrs next Friday, May 29. I'm really quite mervous about it. I have a number in mind and I know I'll be disappointed if I've not achieved it. But the only way to know for sure is to do it. Thanx for allowing me to purge...
