So, I've just logged onto the computer at work and checked my emails... 84 Bariatric Pal notifications, a lot of them for this thread. I've said it before and I'll say it again... I F***ING LOVE THIS THREAD!!! Love to all(?).. Kinda

    Question on post op food

I did baby food.. But I did the one that had a few chunks in it... That was a bad idea... But the baby food in jars and the like was fine... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Chocolate custard baby food....

    Shots?

@@glitterpockets Yeah, you're in trouble then.. But remember, not all surgeons and post-op care are the same... Let them know you don't do needles... I'm sure they'll sort something out...

    Unexpected feeling

I reckon the Pirate is spot on. Taking it slow was/is the trickiest bit for me. Your stomach will let you know if you're rushing it. Good luck!! Kinda..

    Shots?

Nah, don't... It was really easy... All you gotta do is stick the needle in til it stops, slowly push the end then rub your belly... I freaked out at first too... But don't panic.. It's not bad at all.. And if it is, just get someone else to do it for you.. Except maybe the 'rub your belly' part of it.. Kinda.

    Shots?

I had 10 days of self-administered shots post op.. As mentioned, they were to assist with not clotting. I just did it at the same time as I took my liquid vitamins and ate my yogurt.. Ahhhh, those were the days...

    Stress/Emotional eating

I concur... Purge your house of all temptation... My fridge contains the following - -Bottled Water -Milk -cheese pieces (they're SO yum) -Frozen, homemade veg Soup, packed in the smallest containers I could find, yet I still get two or three serves per container. -Frozen home made Pasta sauces, which I eat with no pasta and are packed in the smallest containers I could find. These ones I only filled a third of the way but still find that I have leftovers. -One frozen Mango'n'Cream Weiss bar that has been there for months and will be eaten if and when I feel I need something sweet. My cupboard/pantry contains the following- -Protein powders -Soy sauce -Peanut Butter (I have a very occasional spoonful) That's pretty much it I think... And it works for me!!

    Pre-op liquid protein diet

I've just ordered three tubs of Syntrax Matrix 2.0 Protein powder.. banana Cream x 2 Strawberries & Cream x 1 Total cost delivered is $161AU.. These are the two best tasting (or least offensive) powders that I've found. Approx 23r protein and 110cal per serve. I have at least four shakes a day as I struggle with the meat eating thing at this stage.. I'm sure others will have differing opinions, but this is what works best for me... Kinda...

    What am I missing ?

I'm actually one of those people who 'claims' to have lost 100+ lbs (my current estimate* is about 130 lost in 23 weeks) but has no pics to prove it... My reason is this... Despite my loss so far being excellent and life-changing, I still have a long way to go. I started at the confronting weight of 235kg (approx 525 pounds) and am, therefore, only half way-ish to what I hope to be a healthy, fit, strong 110kg. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, while I'm more than happy with my current progress, I'm in no way happy with the way I look. I'm still a very fat dude. Yes, I have my rugged good looks, my rapier wit and my irresistible charm, but I'll not be happy until I have all those things AND am not fat.. All in good time I guess.. Thanx for your time, Kinda *I say 'estimate' because I don't weigh-in very often. I would find the constant referral to the scales as a distraction and would be put off by stalls/fluctuations.
  12. I'm with you there @@Babbs At 23 weeks post-sleeve, food is very much an afterthought already... Yet there is still the occasional mental planning of a meal and then realising that not only will it not happen, it physically can't happen.. Oh well... I may not eat much but I still have my rugged good looks... And my incredible humility!! Kinda...
  13. I did something similar around State of Origin (rugby league) time... I planned to order 'the usual' pepperoni, onion, olive and anchovie pizza, cheesy garlic bread and bottle of Coke... Then realised that would be a week's food and decided against it... Instead I had smoked salmon salad and a protein shake.. What a rebel!!!

    Back on track

I reckon you have it sorted @@butterfli78 You know what your problem/weakness was/is... You've got your shit together now and will be back on track before you know it... Good luck to you.. You're gonna be just fine... Kinda
  15. I did 4 weeks because I was such a fat bastard.. And it SUUUUUUCKED!!! The only way I got thru it was to keep reminding myself that I'd come too far (a couple of hiccups and false starts) to give up now.. Just keep it in the front of your mind that what you're doing is life changing in alllll the right ways... And if it helps, look at @@Elode's naked pic!!!

    Uncomfortable feeling

G'day Tina, I can only speak of my own experiences.. As things currently stand, I tend to shy away from most meats. I'm 23 weeks post-op and still struggle with a similar feeling if I have meat. I chew and chew but it doesnt help. I've now resigned myself to eating minimal meat. I gnaw at the occasional lump of bacon (mmmmmmmmmmm... bacon) or suck the fat from the odd lamb chop with a tail, but that's it. I've no idea whether it's temporary or not, but just remember... It's ok to spit if you don't want to swallow... Kinda..

    Coworker outed me

As I see it, your co-worker, altho somewhat rude, simply stated fact. You DID have surgery. That IS why you're losing weight. Your co-worker is actually being more honest about it than you are. I seem to be a little different from most people here. I told EVERYONE. I still do.. When people comment on my loss (100+ pounds since end of Feb), I simply say "Yep, I've lost heaps but have heaps to go." My co-workers know. My management know. My mates know. The cleaner in my office knows. I'm not ashamed of the fact that I've had surgery. But then I'm not simply relying on the surgery to lose weight. I'm also exercising before and after work. So, I've turned this into a post about me... I'm such a man sometimes... My opinion (and it's just my opinion) is as follows... You're being a little sensitive. Yes, your co-worker is a toolbag for blurting that shit out... But as someone before me said, once you tell one person, your stuff is no longer a secret. You took a chance and told people... It looks like that's come back to bite you. And not in the good way... Take care, Kinda
  18. This thread blows my mind... 40 pounds. 18kg. And sleeved!! I apologise (not really) if this seems somewhat judgmental, but what kind of surgeon sleeves someone with such a relatively small amount of weight to lose? I've seen a few posters on here where I've thought that diet and exercise were probably all that was required, and I've held my tongue... But this, in my humble opinion, is ridiculous!! In fact, I've no more words left. Well, I do... But nothing positive. And nothing that will assist me in not being banished from this incredibly helpful and supportive community. Thank you for your time.. KindaFlabbergasted

    Rain and heat

Strangely enough, the sleeve isn't affected by the rain. Just walk in the rain.. It's only Water.. You'll dry off!! I know, I know... I'm not much help.. But in my defense, I never claimed to be...
