    The great straw debate!

I feel I've slept thru the fun again... I'm starting to take the lack of a 'heads-up' personally... And yes, it was with some trepidation that I used the term 'heads-up' around you people...

    Two week liquid diet

Generally speaking, the pre-op diest is NOT about losing weight... It's about getting rid of the fat that has collected around your liver... I'm sure someone else can expand on this (or correct me if I'm wrong)... The surgeon needs to get in there and the fatty liver bits can screw things around... Chances are, you're doing NOTHING wrong.. Just keep at it... Don't let the perception of no loss get inside your head..

@@Andrea72 @@CHM Ladies, At this point I'll no longer be taking part in this conversation... While I have PLENTY to say, I'm afraid that a certain Forum Moderator with a 'lipstick' related nickname would relish the thought of banishing me for my use of inappropriateness... The great straw debate!

I'm just having a flashback to Feb 26 last year... That was the day after my op... The surgeon comes in and checks me out... He asks what I had for Breakfast... I said, "Nothing.." THE SURGEON goes to the fridge and gets me a chocolate milk... HE TAKES THE STRAW, breaks the little plastic seal on the milks and just slides the straw right in there... He then hands the drink to me and says "Nice and slow. Drink it over about half an hour.." The surgeon gave me a straw... Straws are good.. The Defense rests, Your Honour...
  13. My social life has changed dramatically since my surgery... When I was fat, I used to go out drinking, gambling, loose women... You all know the type of stuff.. Now I spend my spare time here - Talking to you lot about Protein, hydration and poo... Yeah... Life's good...

    Surgery scheduled for June 7th

@@Capri3Js I've posted this before and it can work.. Try chewing/crunching on some ice.. It makes the body think that its chewed something rather than just 'drinking' all the time... It also has the added bonus of hydrating you...

What Is Your Brilliant Substitute for a Craving?

Oh yeah, my craving substitute... I used to crave a nice long sleep in before waking up to a nice, hot, triple espresso... I've replaced that with 4am wake up calls, cold trips to the gym and alternating between protein-induced diarrhea and constipation... Yeah... F*cking brilliant!!!

    Feeling Judged

@@jenmcd623 I've no idea what other advice you've received in this thread because I've not read the responses... I'm kinda like that sometimes... Anyway, here's what I think... In your original post, you said the following - "This is the first time I've had anyone have negative response to my surgery." The first time! How great is it that everyone you've mentioned it to has been supportive? I think that's outstanding!! So why let this one negative person get to you? The reality is, those who were supportive have also judged you.. They just came to a different decision.. We ALL judge people ALL the time.. Just because it doesn't always result in a negative doesn't mean we're not judging... In my opinion (and that's all this is), disregard this person's negativity. You don't need it. Don't focus on it. Focus on the rest of the people who have judged you and your situation and found you worthy of their support... Prayers going "Shimmy shimmy cocoa pop; Shimmy shimmy rock.."
