  1. I'm at 284lbs, I started at 388lbs in January, I am 93lbs away from goal weight in less than 3 months since my surgery was June 10th, I have met and exceeded all my milestones, including my gym milestones, my next one is to hit 250lbs by December, and hopefully my goal weight early next year, I also want to try kayaking soon, but here is my question for veteran sleevers, what happens after my goal weight, I have some ideas but I want to know if they are on track or off, 1. Maintain or exceed my goal weight long term. 2. Modify my diet to include grains and carbs in a healthy way. 3. Keep taking my Protein since I work out with weight training. 4. Set times to reflect on where I was before surgery to never forget and stay grounded. 5. Be there for someone who wants support going into surgery and guide them through their first few months. I really want honest feedback to how good my after goals are, you won't hurt my feelings, I was really fat and pretty much nothing anyone says discourages me anymore, I want to see what others have accomplished since hitting goal weight, I need to have goals as part of my routine......

    Confused.com

You need to sit back and look at your final decision, something is wrong if the people you are going to are offering the lap band right away, I am an advocate against it, way too many negative reviews and factors, I believe a good surgeon would approach you with your goals in mind, and what you are willing to do, next they would offer several alternatives like bypass, and sleeve or even the new balloon, if everything clicked between you and your choice of bariatric group the next step would be testing and dietician visit, be weary of places that are "ready to go" finally this your journey and your decision as to who you want to share it with, there will be negative and positive comments but it is ultimately your health and life, don't go into this blindly, it is one of the hardest things I have ever done, but I have been rewarded well, and would not hesitate to do it again, I went with the sleeve after a long discussion with my surgeon, the band was too iffy and the bypass alters your entire system SO FOR ME, the sleeve was the safest and best alternative........ Your life, your decision!!!!

    Mourning food!

Ironically I have to remind myself to eat sometimes, it's like a whole other person that is not me, occasionally I do get cravings but since they are healthy ones I can indulge, like Friday I had shrimp fish and oysters, it took me Til Saturday to eat it and my dogs got a nice treat, give a chance you will be amazed after you recover as to your cravings and hunger........... Fluids are the biggie for me

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

Started in January at 388lbs, on June 10th surgery I was at 346lbs, hit 299lbs middle of August, 288lbs sept 1st, today at 284lbs, 93lbs to goal weight........ And going strong
  5. In the last two weeks I've heard this comment "oh my god, your getting too skinny" " oh my, your wasting away" they weren't happy when I was fat, and they are not happy now, unlike them I was "Unhealthy" not "Unhappy" I feel so bad for people like that.......
  6. We call the stethoscope "aesthetics" lmao
  7. So I confessed last week to my peeps on here that I was fighting a slight depression because I got hurt at work two weeks ago and couldn't go to the gym, but I also said I was sticking to the plan and monitoring myself carefully, well here's proof to those who want to give in or think they can't do this, I hit my next milestone today I am at 288lbs that's exactly -100lbs lost since January, I was at 388lbs and by my surgery date on June 10th I was at 346lbs, now on to my next Milestone, hit 250lbs before end of the year, I need to lose 93-95lbs for my goal weight so this is my halfway point and I'm very excited, and I'm back in the gym starting light but I am there.......

    Kept my head straight

I actually am looking at that Babbs, I am currently leaning toward 60% diet 20% exercise 20% mind focus I want to keep going more than ever, I have to be humble though, cause I find myself angry at people I know that say they regret having it cause it didn't work for them, especially when I see them loading up on junk at the cafeteria, I don't seem to believe that I suffer at all, the foods I eat are great and healthy and the only thing I still crave are the Energy Drinks........ I can't even say I wanna cheat once on those cause unlike food those are my weakness and it will start me up on them.......
  9. I have been depressed the last two weeks because I got hurt at work and couldn't go to the gym, but I was sure to monitor myself and stay on track, and I didn't deviate from any other things I do, so in a week or so I hit 288lbs that is exactly -100lbs, then I only have 93lbs or so to goal weight!!!! And Monday I go back to the gym ...... #putmeincoach #eyeontheprize

    8week

I do my shakes for breakfast mon-fri, it is convenient and I need them for the gym, I do a light lunch at work every other day, and I try variety at dinner, I also don't have snacks everyday, 3 or 4 times a week only and I have 1oz portions of things like jerky, cashews, trail mix, or cheese, I don't miss sweets so I can stay away, I also learned to stir fry, and bought an indoor grill, I only cheat once a month, and work out for an hour and a half to two hours at my gym 3x a week, I started in January at 388lbs, on my surgery day June 10th I was 346lbs, today I am at 292lbs with 98lbs to go, I hope this helps.........
  14. Just focus on how far you've come, those stalls play with your head, I have seen a large percentage of gastric surgery patients go through the stall, I think it's very common and it would be easier to get past it when people realize most of the people on here get past the stall, isn't it common in life that at times you will take two steps forward and one step back?????
  15. If everything they say about the body and mind being in shock for awhile has merit, it would make sense, you've literally removed most of your stomach and we flip our diets completely, then we start moving more and more and I (don't want anyone mad at me) was sedate and complacent for many years, I guess the body from time to time just says " hey woe what the hell are you doing man??"eventually the beautiful part is we get in sync.....

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

It's great and I support the sleeve until something better comes along, I have to remind myself to eat sometimes, which is really weird for me........lmao
  17. Babbs was just being funny, she's a sweetheart, I was 346lbs on June 10th my surgery date, and today on September 8th I am at 294lbs, I was at 388 lbs in January, so maybe I've lost 94lbs total, it's slowed to about 1.9 to 2.4 per week but my milestones are being met and I'm ahead of schedule, so I'm not stressing, just like my sleeve the scale is a tool not a foe, it doesn't tell how your life, health and other things have improved significantly, I was wearing a 7x scrub set, I now have to go re-buy a couple of sets probably 3 or 4x, I also purchased shorts and a shirt for the beach 2 weeks ago and instead of a size 60, it was 48-50, most importantly is my muscle increase and the fact that I'm happy....... Slow down or no slow down I'm this for life.....

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself, especially when your support is non existent, I posted a few weeks ago regarding the band, and I have a sleeve, but just like any procedure it should only be used as a tool along with other regiments, if you lost that much the positive is that you have it in you, but you will need to overcome your issues with depression and so on, I wax the opposite I was depressed last December having lost my last family member in 2013, my mom and I took it hard on the one year anniversary of her passing, so I chose this option only after getting myself together and making sure I could keep it together from there on, and I have, nothing is perfect in my life but I monitor myself on a day to day basis and recently realized I've become happier than ever, good luck you have what it takes, just make sure you and your surgeon are compatible, it went a long way for me to have all the support I did both by my team, and at home......... BTW I'm from San Antonio Tx.
  19. So I've been faithful about what I have had to do after my surgery and I am down from 388lbs to 294lbs, and I'm ahead of my schedule, but I can't go back to the gym for at least 2 weeks, u injured my left shoulder at work Monday, I stretched my ligaments, I thought I could handle this but I've become very sad and grumpy that I can't go to the gym, now I understand why my fanatic gym rat friends used to get so upset when they missed the gym, and when I do go I have to start slow and light again, AAAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!! #hatesedatenofun

    Insurance questions

I can try but everyone's surgeon and all insurances are different, my pre op went 3 months because I didn't know I had to have some out of pocket up front that insurances don't cover, if I had the money it would have been a little over a month, my dietician visits were set at 3, 2 prior and 1 right before surgery then it went quick, I was at 388lbs in January then in April on my first visit I was at 346lbs, my surgery was June 10th and I was at 346lbs on the day, I also have severe arthritis in my knees and arms and back, so what I did was follow the strict diet, and you may have to research but for cardio they recommend swimming and water exercises, if you attend a gym there is a technique to get in your cardio with weight training, I can't give you advise cause I am new to this technique and I wouldn't want you to get hurt so you will need to research or google it, it involves using lighter weights on the circuit machines, you place the weights at a lot lower than your max, then you alternate between machines working each part with only 30 seconds max between sets, or machines basically like "speed golf" let's say you want bicep tricep tomorrow, then you start on a bicep exercise 1 set about 15 reps, then move to a tricep machine within 30 seconds and do 1 set of 15 again and so forth until your exhausted, the idea or theory is you get to work out your muscles and increase your heart enough to get the cardio going, good luck and don't give up if you hit hurdles.......

    Jerky

Look em up I think they online ordering also
  23. I think I'm ok to drink but I also know for sure that I am a recovering caffeine addict, the only time I feel a spike is when I have tea, and the food commercials and restaurants I pass don't phase me, it's when I walk into a store and see the energy drink aisles, especially convenience stores in the coolers, Monster, Red Bull, Starbucks, oh man I'm shaking lmao.......
