Trying to stay positive

I have UHC through my work, but I'm on a different tier where they have ore allowances, still some of it came out of pocket for me, so save up a little -
Is anyone else experiencing the same feelings I am? Or am I just out there? Ever since my journey began I have never experienced second thoughts or the fear of the surgery itself, not even the post surgery stuff, since I work in the mental health field I have tried to monitor my own psyche and make sure I not having some kind of euphoria, but I did my research and investigated every aspect of this life changing event I am about to have, so I am thinking that aunt this has something to do with being so comfortable with it, if someone felt the same or kind of like that, let me know, I can't even imagine experiencing the "buyers remorse" syndrome some people talk about........

I am hopeful that all the articles I read on minimal weight loss and the things it alleviates are pretty accurate, my apnea, knee pain, etc..... So if minimal to moderate weight loss can do that for you I can't wait to see what taking off those 80-100+ lbs can do! -
It's funny, I just want the things I was able to do when I was younger that has only been hindered by my weight, getting off the floor, sleeping on the ground when I go camping(although I got pretty spoiled with my big man cot) and I have always wanted to learn to Kayak cause I fish a lot, um only dats away from finding out when I am scheduled, everything is done.......

Mrs. Schu I agree but too many times the soft sell turns into enabling, I work in psych and I would not want someone who needs this surgery plot be turned off by all the negative aura that surrounds it, we have a right to be well informed and look at all the variables, I apologize if I came across as blunt (sincerely) but many times when people looked at me they didn't "sugarcoat" it , I remember wanting a position at a job years ago and studying very hard to get it with my supervisor only to have the job given to someone else because she would be safer on a ladder, telling people as to why others fail is not critical, we all have and will suffer setbacks, but if it is continual then I will not become my mother who I loved very dearly but gave me food to fix things......... #be real it may help one person# -

I did lots of research for the last two years I am just waiting for my surgery in next few days to be scheduled, everything else is in place, but I quickly realized since I work in psych that the mind is as important as your body and the diet, I learned many bad habits that led me to this point and even though I am committed to make this change( lost 23lbs on my own since February) I realize that it takes a lot longer for the mind and body to get in sync, I not knowledgable enough to yet tell you from a medical stand point of what it may be but you might wanna consider that you are not getting enough nutrients and the body is deciding it needs to store what you do have, I would see the dietician again and talk to my doctor, I would also be patient, when you want that Big Mac think of all the weight you have lost and how far you have come in your journey, if that doesn't work look at some online surgery porn, you know the one where a 350+ lb gut like me is on an operating room table with his heart out of his chest, great incentive I think, I apologize for being so blunt but I want to really help people after this, and I must be willing to be open and humble if any mistakes I make........ -
@ Shilatte thank you

My surgeon was still waiting for my results from the lab on my EGD, luckily my Gastric people are very efficient and even give you an advocate, she has even called me from home after hours to take a fax

I apologize for miss-wording my text Miss Gladys, but if u look back on it I did say "most" that is because 85-90% of the negative comments and experience I read were by people who failed to tell their Dr, that they were not doing it for the right reasons, occasionally I would run across a story about a negative experience that was not the patient's fault, the worse being infection control issues, and a poor choice in surgeons, it is very hard to find stories that are negative when people follow every step they are given, even the one story of a 45yo man complaining of ending up in ICU because of post surgery pneumonia, the problem was he never utilized his spirometer and snuck in some smoking starting the same day right after surgery, but like many of you people that I am getting to know on here, I will arrive to commit and be sincere when I falter........... -

laguerr13 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Came down to seeing several friends from my childhood pass on, they were in moderate shape, the knee pain, back, and several other issues that came up in the past couple of years, paled in comparison to the fact that I am 51 yo and I have 6yo twins and a 7 yo princess, and a stepson who is 12, not to mention a pretty hot wife...........so I said , meh I ain't doin much this year anyway " lol -
