    Problems with my troat.

Did you use the spirometer they give you after you discharge
  2. You'll be fine, good luck
  3. I will be 2 months post op on August and I am 9 waist sizes down
  4. My doctor actually told me to slow down, since January I've lost 79lbs, and since my surgery on June 10th I've lost 37 lbs, i work out very hard with weight training, so I intake lots of protein, and very little carbs, they increased my carbs last week, but I was told I can end up very ill if I don't get my levels checked from time to time, I've always been that way, but I am being extremely careful, and I wish I would lose as slow as others on here, I think people who lose too fast tend to gain it fast also.......
  5. It's a very touchy issue Dahlia, we see thin people and wonder "how?", thin people see us and wonder "why?", initially I gained my freedom through looking at how I started and it wasn't pleasant, did some crying and grieving, then I looked at how to relearn and change my habits, it was like newborn learning to walk again, the foods I ate, the amounts, and the times, etc...... As I go into almost 2 months out I am just beginning to see the "how?", and I already know the "why?" Now I concentrate on the day by day thing, I don't worry about tomorrow or next year or 10 years down the line, I will keep doing things like I have learned and always remember what got me here, the motivation for me is that I have improved my heart, stamina, health, and my happiness

    So devastated

That sounds right, my wife haggled our hospital and surgeon payments and our part altogether with beginning to end was $4800, and we have a treat insurance that covered 90%, but I got a copy of the hospital overnight and it was $83000, which I think is ridiculous but hey who regulates them anyway??? , the funniest breakdown was the pain med I took after the morphine,y take home prescription was $79 which my co pay was 0, but the two doses I put the day after before I came home were $450, yeah that was the most expensive toilet paper I ever used, yet we look at the military spending $45.00 for a screwdriver, and don't think twice about regulating these outrageous hospital rates
  7. At the middle of June I posted a commercial I was disgusted with and it blew up with responses, lol, it was about a new burger that had beef, hotdogs, and chips inside it, also those new pizzas with the cheese sticks made into them, it's like when you buy a new car, you may only see one or two on the street and after you buy one it seems as though they are everywhere!!!!!!!!

    What Are Your Must-Have Foods?

1oz portions Cashews Beef jerky Cheese Sorbet Chocolate protein 7-10 flavors of Mio type drinks Shrimp
  9. You are doing awesome, indulgence is part of a great reward that must never be taken for granted, I am not speaking for you out of respect, but as for me I can't do that until I am ready, it is part of what got me to this point and only when I can learn to balance the treats with the guidelines that I follow will I be able to indulge, as for right now I allow myself one cheat day for month and I am more than content to keep it that way, admittedly being a foodie and fatty, I have to look at food with the "eat to live, don't live to eat" attitude, I commend you on your self discipline, I am in disagreement that thin people do it all the time, if we were built like they are we wouldn't be on this forum, and I can't make assumptions based on what I see a thin person eating, sometimes it is an amazing metabolism, and sometimes it can be bulimia, or a disorder, sometimes wearing another person's shoes can be painful in Ways you never saw coming, I even have a safety plan for desserts at a date with my wife, if she orders something that looks awesome, I will have a bite of hers instead of ordering my own, with the forethought that I will not do that all the time, keep going, your in the right direction but don't allow yourself to make amenities to justify why it is ok, it was my down fall, because one became two, two became three.......... And I do envy your 600 cal, lol, I'm at 350-400 per day..

  12. My insurance never needed anything from my PCP but if he had said no, I would not have hesitated to get a second opinion especially since my Heath was failing, fortunately I only needed my psych doctor's ok letter
  13. I wanted the Cherokee, there's just something that keeps drawing me to the Rengade, and as for the drought thing......I live in San Antonio Tx, so I feel you, the grass or what little there is of it feels like crunchy prickly stuff, and I'm sure we will be rationing by next month........

    What's for Breakfast?!

Lol, it is a sausage, in my culture it is made with various ingredients including pork, beef and spices, if you go to Walmart it is usually in the breakfast section, although it comes in a casing, you first remove it then brown in a pan with no oil and if you used one casing add 6-7 eggs and mix until done, you can also get some pre packaged flour tortillas and heat then one by one in another pan serve them as tacos, It is used in a lot of dishes bi one of my favs is when you brown the chorizo and add a softened cheese, the best are Mexican and come in a jar, it makes a great dip for nachos, the egg and chorizo is carb friendly , the tortillas are not ..........

    Tomorrow is the Day!

Hopefully if it anything like mine you won't remember anything passed the anesthesiologist giving you the pre sedative, lol, I don't even remember the pain cause I was kept well medicated the first day, I was very uncomfortable the first day until I got to walk that night, I didn't want anything or tolerated anything except very cold water and ice chips, the nurses kept waking me up for blood pressure and other stuff, and I kept dozing off, I asked to get off the morphine and take my home pain meds the next morning, and was home that afternoon, I wish I had listened sooner to people who had told me to walk as soon as you can, it really does make a difference right away, it helps with mostly the nausea and gas pain, and the more you walk the faster the symptoms go away, good luck and see you on the loser's bench, my surgery was in San Antonio......
  17. Starting out at 198 (kinda)

I really don't think you need anything from any of us, I believe you may have lost focus and perspective due to the fullness of your plate( regarding life) pardon the pun, you inspire not only because of your weight loss, but because you also managed to entirely change your mind and life to be more positive and happy for you and your family, living with and abusive individual is a poison in itself, it prevents you from happiness, health and a myriad of other positives, and eventually wears you down to believe " this is the only way it can be", I actually think if you were to be able to take a deep breath, read slowly what you just posted to yourself, and assuming you can take atleast a day away for yourself, you will realize how strong you are and how much you have accomplished in such a small amount of time, remember when after surgery the feeling of not being in so much pain, sleeping better, being healthier overall , can you see where I'm going with this? You already have the answers under your nose, if you were to take the time and reset, I'm sure your weight would slowly start coming off again, I work in a psych facility and have seen your story countless times, except yours is one of success........... Remember who you were and who you are now!!!!! Sorry, your story hit a spot in me
  21. Hope she or he told you that without enough fluids....... Well it's gonna hurt !!! Sorry, try hard to get fluids in, it is needed along with a softener

WHEN CAN I GET BACK IN THE GYM

I had sleeve and hernia repair on a Wednesday and was allowed to go back to the gym Monday, I isn't a technical question, it's a question of what you can safely tolerate, I( so this doesn't come back to become a confrontation and I would like to answer your question) was told by my surgeon and the attending doctor the next morning "only cardio like treadmill or bicycle and very light circuit training" quit when you feel pain coming on, and don't go overboard until after first follow up
  23. I think Mirolax is the safest go to, we use it for alot of our patients, and my surgeon told me to use it after I went 5 days without, start with one capful and give it 24 hours to work, if still too hard go another capful and stop, stay close to home after 2nd capful, you may get stomach cramps right before, and caution on anything you take. You will become dehydrated very quickly so drink a lot of fluids, I would go with Powerade Zero or Gatorade G2 and water, it will also help you pass if you take a lot of fluids and do some physical activity, call your office first to make sure......

    What's for Breakfast?!

I stick with the protein most mornings but on the weekends like to have 1 egg over easy I slice of Spam, or 2 slices bacon And 1 slice toast, today raisin toast I also did lots of research before my surgery and got into cooking methods, foods, and nutritional values, 2 of my main methods to cook are grilling, and Stir fry, I learned how to Stir fry through videos on Google and YouTube, and surprisingly found that you can manipulate many Asian recipes to be carb friendly, it was even more successful and fun when my wife got me a Wok, I've cooked some amazing meals in less time than a regular meal, my best so far was my Cashew Chicken, I omitted the corn starch and sugar and it was delicious, I also use several Web sites for my cheat day, they offer gastric friendly restaurant listings and choices available, the shockers were Panda Express, and pretty much any chicken wing place, good luck
