    Fashion Hints

Hey everyone. I was banded in Jan and have curently lost 17 kilos, yay me:cool2: I am going to a wedding this weekend in melbourne and I am a whole size smaller in clothes, I am really hesitant on spending money on clothes which will soon be too big for me as I have heaps of clothes. Any hints on making big clothes fit nicer to show off my new shrinking waste. I have gone from a big 22 to a small 20.

    Optifast

Good luck Peek!!! The Optifast stage is hard, but it not only helps with surgery and recovery but it also gives you a head start in your weight loss. Its nice to go into surgery already having lost a bit, it helps with morale, well it did for me anyway. I am not sure about anyone ele, but for the first 5 days on optifast I felt rotten, tired, headachy etc....But that seemed to pass after about a week, so keep it up. I was banded jan 16th and after about one week I felt perfectly fine, so I am sure all will be well.

    Why am I hungry?

Thanks guys for the advice. I am feeling better just knowing that it is normal:thumbup: Amy...Look forward to meeting you at the Perth catch up soon.....Hope you all have agreat day
  6. Amy, that sounds great. My son is on antibiotics for 4 weeks. Its been pretty tuff here and could do with a break.... Its been so hard to lose weight while staying at PMH. I will be able to get my mother in law to babysit, if given enought notice, so a coffee sounds great :-)
  7. Hey. I have been away for a while because my son has been sick and has been in PMH since last Saturday :-( He got septic arthritis in his hip. Apparantly he got it because he had tonsilitis and the bacteria travelled from his tonsils to his hip. He has surgery to clean and remove the puss......He also has to wear a brace for 3 weeks to prevent his hip from dislocating... Anyhoo, to cut a long story short, I probably won't be able to attend. We have been told to keep him at home as his immune system is low due to the antibiotics, my husband is away so I won't be able to get out.....maybe not till the end of Feb. What a rough week, jeez I am drained

    exercise where do i start

hi Kaylene, I have been banded on jan 16th, I have always been into exercise and am really keen to get back to it. I live pretty close to a local swimming pool, I usually go there 3 times a week and swim some laps, I usually do 30 in the 50 metre pool. But if you aren't too good at swimming try walking in the inside pools. I often see women doing swim walking, I hear it is great exercise and it is low impact. I also go on our exercise bike. We have a flash one, it cost us neary $1200, but it is worth it, and I think you can also hire them too. Also invest in a dumb bell set so you can start toning. A friend of mine lost 50 kilos by lap banding and did she has the best arms now hehehe, I want them too. Good luck

    Perth Bandsters Get Together?

Hey Min, Good luck tomorrow. I am a week post op tomorrow, and I hardly feel like I have had an op (apart from lack of appetite). The first few days were a bit hard, but after that, everything seemed to pick up...I am sure you will do fine.

    Officially Banded

Hey, I am officially banded as of Wednesday 16th at 2:30pm, by Dr Watson. It was a great experience, I wioke up in a bit of pain, mostly my throat was sore and my mouth dry, the pain killers worked pretty fast and by Thursday morning I was ready to go. I still have a bit of pain in my shoulder from the gas, but apart from that, i feel normal. My husband was a darling and made me some chicken broth which I have loved. I have also stocked up on some Up and Go Breakfast drinks, and have been sipping Water all day long :-) I am glad its over and now looking forward to the new thinner me

    Perth Girl

Hey, I am new here. i am due to be banded in Jan:clap2: It was a really quick decision for me. My G.P recommended in in November, went to surgeon in early December, now a date booked for op. I am nervous and also very excited. I have a little boy and I want to be around to watch him grow up, I am sick of being the fat girl. My husband is normal weight and has never seen me as anything more than beautiful, he is apprehensive about me getting the op. I am a bit all ove the place. I am looking to make friends. i am in perth:cool:

O.K, its 2 more sleeps to go. I have wanted this for a long time and i am excited, but part of me is questioning my decision and I have alot of fear to leave my son for the first time, its very hard for me.I hope my husband can cope with him and I hope I will be ok after a few days so I can play with him..... Anyone have any tips for what i need post op as tomorrow is the last shopping day.

    The Emotional Journey

Hey Nat, I have told people and to be honest I have recieved a bit of negativity. It is sad that people feel they can judge what they don't know anything about. All of a sudden everyones an expert. It reminds me when I was pregnant, every mother had advice on feeding etc.. I am having my band next week with Dr Watson...I will keep you posted

    how much for Dr. Watson?

I am being banded by Dr Watson next week. I am going to be out of pocket $2000 (I have HBF), so you are right. I think it depends on your health cover. He told me what I had to pay on the first consult. I was dubious that there were hidden costs, but there appears not to be....He does seem very nice. Good Luck

    The Emotional Journey

I am due to be banded on Jan 16, and since getting my date, the emotional rolercoaster starts even more. I am certain I want the surgery. I have always been a big girl and have never experienced buying clothes in the "normal" stores and have always had to shop in the larger sections. I am married to a great man, someone who loves me more than I thought anyone ever would, he says I am abeautiful the way I am....But I know he married me for who I am not for what I look like. i want to be beautiful as well as a nice person. Is that too much to ask. I have just got off the phone from my mother in law who will be looking after my 18 month old the day of the surgery, so my hubby can be with me at the hospital........ I had to tell her what the operation was for and I could feel she was judging me, It was so hard to tell her what the op was for. I feel so ashamed but also angry at myself that I should feel ahamed about having an operation that could save my life. I have my date booked, I am taking Optifast but part of me wants to run and hide in the corner....Silly hey!!!!!!

    pre op diet

Well its day 9 for me today. When I started I was 147 kilos, I weighed myself today and was 142.8 which inspired me to keep going. I am being banded on Jan 16, i voluntarily have been doing Optifast since Dec 27th as I thought it would give me the edge........It was hard at first and I have had a few setbacks. The hardest thing was the other night making spag bog for the family and had to control a desire to eat the lot. I gotthrough it though, which is a positive...... So all you gals and guys on Optifast, keep it up, we can do it

    comfort eating

This may sound like a silly question, but I have been wondering...I have just started my Optifast after a Christmas pre op Binge:phanvan.... After the band, what about comfort eating, eating for reasons other than hunger, does it still happen? I know the band is just a tool, I am assuming will power is easier with the band... Just thinking aloud hahha, thanks
  25. Cherry_Blue

    comfort eating

Thanks guys. Its nice to have your support :biggrin1: i have just completed my first week of Optifast, it has been hard as I have still had to cook dinner for husband and son. Tonight it was spag bog, I had to taste it for flavouring and boy oh boy did I want some hahah....Tonight I weighed myself and scales say 5kg down....Seems to be working. I stopped smoking a month ago too, in preparation for surgery so I am feeling alot better. I know its for a good cause and their is an end in sight. I just wish that after surgery I could be a size 12, and then I can do all the hard work...Guess it doesn't work like that... Good luck with your band and diet Jess,
