  1. All clothing will be purchased from thrift store until I reach my goal. Then I will buy some kick ass new stuff! Hopefully in a size 10!
  2. Hi! Dr Graber is my surgeon, too! Looks like you are doing great!!!
  3. Just wondering, looking for buddy!
  4. I'm planning on starting to take Biotin pre-surgery to hopefully help with the hair loss issue. I stopped in a gnc store today and they had a 600 mg and a 2500 mg dose. How much do you take?
  5. Does your surgeons office offer any kind of post - surgery nutrition support? Surely they want to see you succeed. Maybe give them a call? Good luck!
  6. @HopeandAgony- I am in the exact same boat as you. I have always been told that the insurance company uses your weight at the time of your consultation to make their decision. My initial BMI was 36.5 but I have a comorbid condition of sleep apnea. I'm going through all of the required tests and things and am still skeptical that Aetna is going to approve me!
  7. Can someone explain to me how to add a friend? Can it be done on mobile apportion do you have to be on a desktop? I can't seem to figure out where on the app to do it. Thank you!
  8. @@India928, I would love to connect with you about some very similar feelings! Any way we can do that?
  9. @cristina.banks , I am in a situation similar to you. Although I am considered very obese at 225 pounds, there are people at my surgeons office who clearly have a lot more weight to lose than I do. Did you have any difficulty getting your surgery approved through your insurance? I'm still terrified that I'm going to be denied. I'm afraid that they're going to say"you are not obese enough". I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP machine for a month now. My surgery is already scheduled for one month from today but I'm still in the preapproval process with my bariatric office.
  10. I have a question about the consequences of long-term low caloric intake. Obviously surgery works because of the drastic reduction in calories, so your body is able to burn its own fat stores for energy. But if you ever done research about low calorie living I'm sure you've heard that if you eat too few calories your body into sort of a "starvation mode" which slows your metabolism--sort of like your body going into self protection...which is precisely why all good diet programs suggest that you actually eat frequent but small meals during the day--obviously closely monitoring calories, carbs, etc. so I guess my question is how do post bypass patients continue living on such reduced calories? As adults we are not designed to live on less than 1000 cal a day over the long term, right? I don't know why but I've been just thinking about this a lot...
  11. Sorry, my autocorrect turned my post topic into "Injury" hahaa!
  12. I have 2 questions--is Unjury protein powder truly unflavored? And for the chicken soup, I've heard that you have to mix it with lukewarm water only--can you heat it up after it's properly dissolved?
  13. I'm July 6th if approval goes through! How can we connect??
  14. @@Abbie213, where in upstate NY are you?
  15. Hi Post-oppers! I'm trying to determine if my husband will need to take off from work after my surgery. Other than the day that you arrived home from the hospital, did you feel like you needed someone with you for the first couple of days? Thanks for any input!
  16. @@SavorySweet can you share what app helps you eat more slowly? Interested
  17. Please seek help right away--vodka and Xanax is a very bad combination and you could easily overdose on what seems to be a very small amount!! I hope you are feeling better soon, it sounds like you are really struggling.
  18. This is a wonderful article! Enjoy! http://www.bariatriceating.com/2015/05/17/you-cant-hate-your-way-into-loving-yourself-2/
  19. Great advice, @djmohr...Hang in there, @pollywolly--you are definitely fighting a beast with the prednisone-hunger and weight gain are know side effects.
  20. I'm sorry you had to go through this ordeal....I have my psych eval coming up and have no idea what to expect. And now I am very concerned--my PCP just put me on Zoloft for depression and I'm wondering if this is going to hurt my chances of approval--I am very close to the lower end of the minimum BMI but I do have sleep apnea. I have been taking off some weight during the process just by walking more, staying away from bad carbs, no more diet coke...all the things that will be necessary after surgery-but I'm so afraid Aetna will look at it and say see? She's losing on her own, no medical necessity for surgery....ugh. I just want to get healthy. I hope everything works out in your favor, @SpookieLei. Best of luck to you!
  21. How are you post op folks feeling?? Hungry? Frustrated? Or happy?
  22. Thanks! I just bought a 4pack of chocolate!
  23. @@moltoguy, I'm confused about what you said about nutrition classes....my surgeons office is only requiring one meeting with a nutritionist as part of the approval process....what are you doing? I'd love to stay in touch with you July folks--is there a way we can do that?
