  1. I'm 3,weeks out, still more tired than I'd like and my BP is running very low-today was 90/58!
  2. I'm just 1 week out and could add yogurt, applesauce and digit mashed potatoes thus week. I have absolutely no trouble eating 1/2 cup of anything mushy. Is that bad?
  3. Karl I will post tomorrow what the vitamin choices I was given was! One of them was actually a Flintstones chewable (but you need 2)
  4. I'll be in 2 days before you! Clear liquid started today. Best of luck for smooth sailing!
  5. @@Djmohr - thank you that is a good idea! And yes, I am very lucky to only need to do 3 days clear liquids!
  6. So my three day liquid diet begins on Friday. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM Monday for my 7:30 AM surgery...my husband and daughter are very busy this weekend and I'm looking for things to do-other than just cleaning the house-to keep myself occupied and my mind off food! I am seriously debating doing a major overhaul on my bedroom closet--eliminating all the size 18/20 pants and size 1 and 2/X shirts...what do y'all think? Do it now? Or wait a few weeks and enjoy trying them all on and watching them fall off me (God willing!)
  7. Mine took one week after entire package was submitted by office/all prerequisites met. Surgeon office called me.
  8. Hey July peeps! Got my approval from Aetna yesterday -- I am good to go. July 6 7:30 AM! So anybody who wants to start a July support group--how do we do this? Friend each other on FB? I personally Believe I would really benefit having people to talk with Who are at the same point I am...I can be found under Katie Morgan on FB. I don't have a profile picture posted yet,?but my cover photo is a sunset on the lake. This is a separate Facebook account I use just for my weight loss journey. Thanks and good luck everyone! ????
  9. Just curious-do you all think that if you started surgery at a lower bmi that you may have had an easier recovery/no complications? I am just over the bmi that qualifies me for approval (with sleep apnea and gerd as comorbid conditions)...surgery scheduled for 1 week from tomorrow and I still don't know if I'm approved! But I am praying for a complication-free experience! I have things I want to do this summer!
  10. You may also find that your surgeon may order a sleep study to determine if you have sleep apnea, a bonafide co morbidity. I was extremely surprised to find out I do have it!
  11. Just to relieve any concerns about Gas X...it isn't really a drug in the true sense of the word, as its action is mechanical, not chemical (I.e. Doesn't need to be absorbed through the blood stream to work) Simethicone works by coalescing the gas bubbles, breaking them up, so they can dissipate. It is very safe. Obviously we should all be following our doctors orders so if someone's been told not to take it, there may be a reason! But I'm sure going to have some with me!
  12. I haven't had my surgery yet but isn't 12 pounds in one month good? That is 3 pounds per week--i'm not expecting to lose more than that I don't think?
  13. I had the greatest idea for opening a new chain of fast food restaurants this morning. It would be a post bariatric surgery patients dream come true. The only thing on the menu would be high protein meats and fish, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt, sugar-free Jell-O and putting, some fancy flavored ricotta cheese desserts, veggies and low carb fruits. We would make our own delicious protein smoothies. There would be absolutely no bread, pasta, chips or even liquids of any kind served. The salad bar would offer customers a scale for their use so they could measure their own portions.,Every day would also feature a couple of high-protein low-carb hot meals. I would call it The Pro Shop. That should read *pudding! Damn autocorrect
  14. So what are the foods most likely to cause dumping--besides the obvious high sugar/fatty? I'm terrified of this as well
  15. Can anyone comment on the tasty factor of Inspire protein?
  16. Congrats on nearly 50 lbs gone! That's terrific! Can the NUT at your surgeons office help? I haven't had mine yet but I envision eating a lot of after 8 weeks is chicken, fish including tuna, cottage cheese, low fat ricotta cheese, eggs, protein shakes, and plenty of veggies !
  17. Thanks! And yes, using an alternate email!
  18. Beast meat, hahaa????
  19. My surgeons office is one that requires you to stop protein shakes. They want you to learn how to get your protein from dense filling protein sources like meats and fish eggs etc..they don't want post bypass patients relying on soft mushy liquidy foods that go down so easily. I understand the rationale but I know for myself, post surgically if I'm not getting enough protein in a day I'm having a shake!
  20. Good morning, all. I have a huge favor to ask. My surgery is coming up in early July, and like many of you, I have chosen to keep it very private from everyone but my immediate family. I have created a different Facebook page because I don't want pages that I've "liked" or groups that I've joined to show up in my newsfeed or that of my friends. I also refuse to post pictures of myself on my FB page, yet I truly want to have some kind of visual record of my progress and want to use my new page to do that -- sort of like a digital journal of my journey. The problem is FB is intuitive enough to know something is up when you have no friends--even when you ask to join closed groups you may get denied if you have no friends because admins think you are just joining to spam them....logical assumption! Would you please consider requesting me as a friend? You can always check "Unfollow" so my stuff won't clog your own newsfeed and I will never post on your wall--but I hope to keep some really good stuff on there, especially recipes I find for post op life. I would love to have some friends who are also July/summer surgeries! My facebook address is katiemorgan7664@gmail.com . I promise I'm not a creepy stalker! Just someone who wants to use social media for the good it can provide! I'm using 7/6/64 as my birthdate so that on every July 6 I will be reminded of my surgerversary--my NEW birthday! Thank you all so much.
