  1. Hi I'm from Northern California too. Tomorrow we're walking Russian Hill. Go google meet up.com. You will find a private group called San Francisco Bay area WL S. That's where we put our events. We're going to walk angel island in May. We're gonna bike around Angel Island in May. We plan something every other week.

Direct message me if you cannot find it. Looking forward to meeting you.

  2. I find it amazing how much our conversations focused around food. My friends know that I've lost weight and know that I don't want to talk about food anymore. Fortunately you're early in the process of might be hard to have a conversation. Here's what I do at lunch we don't talk about food we talk about life and when someone brings the food I say can we not talk about food please. And that usually stops the conversation. Keep in mind none of my friends know about the surgery they all just know that I'm watching what i eat.

    Good luck.

  3. Try softer foods... like sliced deli meat goes down easy. My first scrambled egg was very hard to go down - so at the beginning I did crushed hard boiled - that went down easier since they were small pieces.

If you can, try softer Protein rich foods. Like Protein Cookies (2 scoops Protein powder, 1 T pancake mix, 1 med banana crushed, 1/2 t baking soda and Water. Mix until wet - I make it a little runny. Form into Cookies and bake 325 for 10 min - be careful not to overcook). These are nice and soft for my pouch. I also do the protein pudding from World According to eggface without the Protein Bars. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2016/03/grasshopper-pie-premier-protein-pudding.html.

  4. hi!!! I too have spent too much money and now I have 3 unflavored containers in the kitchen. Here is what I liked.

    1) GNC unflavored if I was cooking (usually this is for oatmeal or stovetop cooking - like soups).

    2) Unjury if I was making a shake with lots of other flavors.

Now I have learned that I like the Quest flavors and use those to many of my foods now. Like I add vanilla when I make Protein pudding. chocolate and PB when I made my oatmeal now. And banana when I make pancakes.< /p>

My last favorite unflavored has been nectar.

    good luck.

  5. hi.... missing your first period if surgery is possible. I did.... then my next one was a BIG one (and really 3x bigger than I ever thought possible). So the hormones and changes in diet will cause all sorts of issues.

One more note...we are super fertile with hormone changes. So watch when you start back in the bedroom. My ob suggestions extra protection until 1 year - just to be safe.

  6. Hello! I have been really struggling with my family / friends and my new forever diet (as my mother has been calling it). She still thinks, this is a diet instead of my new lifestyle. I have been working on how to talk to her and others about food.

I recently read a post on Strong Girls. https://www.girlsgonestrong.com/social-sabotage-how-to-respond-to-criticism-about-your-food-and-exercise/?awt_l=pafau6&awt_m=3YIWG4kHZ5j4sIP

It was fantastic and gave me many new ideas for having "the food" discussion with friends and family. I wanted to share her in case it helps any of you. I know it will help me.

PS - this is a great BLOG to subscribe to.

  7. yes - all normal. Since the change in diet our hormones have changed too. And I notice this is with me too. My therapist and I are working on why these things are bothering me more.

Sorry - try to identify these moments and what is the root cause. Then you can start to learn what is the best solution to overcome them.

One more note - since before surgery I was taking anti-depressants. I upped the amount during right before sugery till about 6 months post surgery. I am now at 1 year and notice I can drop back to my normal dosage. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about some anti-anxiety type medications.

  8. hi.... yes, I have had major hair loss. I have been taking biotine since 2 months but that does not seem to be helping me. Right now, I target 80-100 g of Protein and my hair is still coming. I have a theory.... the first Hair loss starts at 3 months then a second hair loss comes around 9-10 months. I am now in the second hair loss. I really hope this is limited to two times. In talking with friends, they have the same issues. So crossing fingers I will see some new Hair growth soon.

  9. So here is what I do... I lie..... Flat out lie. I say I have a special diet due to food allergies. Everyone seems to be more accepting of food allergies than " I am watching what I eat." Since many of my co-workers are vegan, or vegetarians, it's not a problem when I say food allergies. So I thank them for the food and just pick what works best for me.

Really - after the first time, no one even questions anymore.

I know its really hard.. be strong.
