  1. Same here Darcie my process has been quick I got the ball rolling in April and my surgery date is May 20th. I said to my surgeon when he gave me the date, I feel like you've just given me my prison release date.
  2. Nah I haven't faced that... this time. in the past when I have tried optifast I have had people try and sabotage my efforts and I was weak willed and gave in but this time as only my family know about the surgery they are supportive and give me encouraging words when I feel down and with all the others I am saying I'm trying to lose weight and I am being defiant and sticking to that.
  3. I have a $40 box of optifast chicken soup that the very thought of having almost makes me puke. Sad thing is I can't stand the thought of wasting money so somewhere in my future this soup will get eaten. even if it is used to thicken up a family soup or something hehehe
  4. Here in Australia all you have to is have the right cover and wait the 12months, The surgeon suggest you make contact with hi 3months into the waiting period just so all your appointments can be made and done. But I didn't and I did it after the twelve months and had all my appointments in 4 weeks and met him and got my date for 2 weeks later.

    Trouble with food

Had the same experience at work today too, I simply said I'm trying to lose weight so no thanks. They were all supportive and left it at that
  6. That sounds marvellous, yep day 10 is almost over and I can not wait I keep getting asked how do I feel as it's not long. And to be honest I'm nervous scared and just want it to happen.
  7. I'm in day 10 and I have been struggling I have stuck to it and been diligent but boy have I felt like sh*t. I think it's part mental, I have spent so much time invested in the "after surgery" phase that I never put any tine and thought to the before surgery preparation. It has gotten better as the days have passed but the desire to have the unhealthy food comes and goes. Sometimes I am so sick of the thought of food I can't be bothered, but I have to push on.

    Blender Blues!

I was thinking about this last night and thought what if you mix a bit of water in the powder to make a paste then slowly add water and stir gently gradually adding more and more water to your liking being careful to not stir to vigorously.
  9. I'm here too, my date is also the 20th and it is getting so close now I have to keep myself occupied because its all I think about. Thank god I will be working from here to the day before my surgery date, that should keep me busy. I had the nurse call yesterday to go through pre surgery details, that was ok. I just have to get through the opti-fast and Soups

    Brand new to the forum

I think a lot of at first think WLS is cheating or the easy way out, that is why a lot of us don't want to tell anyone at first. But as you research more and more you learn it is not easy it is not cheating and you do have to work at it. Most people would think that us with weight issues lack discipline and resilience, and that is why we choose the surgery. It takes discipline and resilience to get through this.

    Have my date

May the 20th for me, and I'm so ready for this. I am using the opti fast and I like the straw berry I like whip it in the ninja blender and partially freeze it the whip it again, it's such a great smoothly. I've also whipped up pumpkin smoothies and when I have the Soup I use cold Water chuck a hand full of veggies fresh or frozen and whip it up the heat it in the microwave. But all I can think about is creamy curried eggs
  12. Diabetes, I'm on three types of Mede two are insulin so the main reason is to hopefully decrease or get rid of it

    ????Purée's????

My dietician tells me in the purée stage "if you can suck it through a large straw you can eat it" that is puréed enough

    ????Purée's????

As part of my visit with my dietician I was given a comprehensive book she put together regarding WLS. Includes all surgery types, pre op post op all the stages of diet and menu planners and includes a vast array of recipes. I have tried some in the pre op stage and love it, very simple and filling.

    Fat free Creamer...

Caffeine also inhibits the body's ability to absorb nutrients and vitamins.
  16. Another day down and a few more shakes to go

    Should I just self-pay?

This is why you pay insurance so it will be there when you need it. As previous poster put it, save your money for plastics.

    Disappointed

Even though you didn't have the surgery to lose weight your sub consciously hoping it would do it for you. You know the fundamentals of losing and maintain weight with WLS, go back to the basics and re-start, re boot your system. Go back on the shakes do your exercises and avoid the temptations that got us to the weight we all put on. You know what you need to do and you can do it, the surgery is only half of the tools for successful weight loss you are the other half.

    Blender Blues!

How about those stick blenders sit in on the bottom of the jug and mix that way you will get less froth. Me personally I love the froth I find it makes it more creamy yum yum.
  21. Good to see this topic, as a diabetic on two insulin's myself my motivation for this surgery is to get off the meds and hopefully go into full remission (fingers crossed). The optifast is helping me immensely to the point I have to be extra careful with my dosages as I've had 2 hypos since I started 7 days ago.
  22. Awesome news, my surgery day is the 20th as well, I can not believe it is only 9 days away. 9 days until my life will change forever
  23. Well I have contemplated this thought since deciding to go through with the surgery, I know I will have all the excess skin (the deflated balloon look) but the health benefits out weigh it. I'll admit it I am a vain person and I do suspect there will be days when I will hate my body, and may even regret the surgery. I already have huge bat wing arms so I know that will get worse. I am already open to the fact that I will need some reconstructive surgery, I guess in one way I am lucky that I although I am a big woman I didn't get the big boobs, but that worries me too because if I lose any I won't have much there
  24. Good luck fingers crossed for a smooth sailing complication free surgery.
