sbg224 got a reaction from Ratpack in Tx- Houston Area
I used to live in Austin, does that count. lol. I was just wondering how you stayed on track all these years. I am 6 1/2 months out, had total knee surgery, and with all the pin and nausea found myself straying from the rules. I am now trying to get back on track, but feel bored with the same old food. Carbs, not sweets, crackers, bread, tortillas, mostly are my downfall. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. You can message me directly at sbg224, thanks, and good for you

I know it has been 1 month or so from your post but it was very inspiring. I am almost 18 months post sleeve and find myself struggling. I got down to 161lbs, goal 145lbs, so have not reached it and now I find my hunger uncontrollable almost and have gained back about 5-6 lbs. I am also such a carb addict, I thought that was behind me, and am so, so scared of regain. I cannot believe how hungry I am, and how much more I need to satisfy me. I am tracking again, and trying to use premier Protein instead of carbs or something more high calorie to satisfy the hunger and of course the Protein and veggies. Thanks for your post and if anyone has any other ideas please share it really does help. I do go to a support group wekly, but it is really geared more towards preops, will look into some food addiction groups and see if that helps.
I also followed this forum 4-5 times a week and have not been on in quite a while so will try to get back on more often now also.
I like this new forum section. If anyone knows of any good psychologists or support groups in north Orange county Ca please let me know Glad to see some old timers still on this forum and good to catch up

I would love to have a vets forum. I joined in May 2015 and haven't been on for ages as there wasn't anything I felt was relevant to me. I have concerns about different things now that I am 18 months post op

Yep, it's real simple, guys. You will lose some degree of restriction eventually. If I eat carbs, I gain. If I stop exercising, I gain. I have to stick with the program, and eat mostly Protein and vegetables, or I will gain. I don't do perfect, but about 80% of the time. I am currently losing again by finally coming to terms with the simple truths.
Here is my other tip. Learn to be comfortable being hungry. I'm serious. Our stomachs are not supposed to be full all the time. Get comfortable with drinking liquids all the time, and always drink Water first when you think you're hungry.

Taylor..... I had surgery 2 1/2 years ago. It seems like I have to reset every year right after Christmas. Ugh....What I have done is take 1-2 days of liquid diet....Then get serious about exercise and try to keep calories between 1000-1100. That usually does it for me. I'd be more than happy to be your buddy through this. Hang in there and let me know if you need an ear.

I did the complete 5 days and have the same diet since day 5. My restriction is back 100% Protein shakes and Water consumption is the most important to keep you from munching.

@@sbg224 I am just now seeing your post. How are you doing? I find following the HFLC (high fat low carb, or keto) diet is helpful. It helps with the hunger and it helps with staying away from the carbs. The thing is that I babysit part time (I have a full time job, but do this one the side.) and being with kids several evenings a week is so hard! Kids mean lots of snack food means lots of carbs and junk food! So hard to say no but I've been managing! I have been steadily losing but it has been slow going the busier I get. The busier I get, the less time I can focus on exercise and eating right. But I've still been losing and not gaining so that is a plus!
Hope your journey is finding it's way back on track!

sbg224 reacted to Donny in I restarted successfully 1 month ago -25lbs
I was the guy that came here studying the forum for stories of how people restarted successfully and never did anything about it. Or very rarely did you find people willing to discuss this because once they were back on track they didn't come back to the forum. So here is my success story so far.
On September 1st I had had enough of regain and decided it was time to change my bad habits. I had VSG 4 years ago and dropped from 385 to 285 in 9 months. Then I slowly crept back to 335, a 50lb regain!
So what did I do? I did 3 days of shakes then 4 days of shakes and small portions of chicken. Then I discovered reddit.com/r/keto and started reading. For the last 3 weeks I have been full blown Keto with 5% carbs, 25% Protein, 70% fat on 900-1200 cal per day. I follow intermitant fasting on a 18:6 ratio. And I walk 3-4 miles per day. In one month of have lost 25lbs and only 25 more to my lowest but I won't stop there this time! Before I get yelled at about how horrible this is just do a bit of research. Many people have CURED their diabetes with a keto lifestyle and there is actual science backing all of it.

The beauty of WLS is that you can gain a few pounds but lose it almost immediately by getting back on track. No fear!

I'm not particularly carb sensitive, but I know a lot of people *are*. Carbs make them really hungry. Try cutting way back again and white knuckle it for a few days and see if that helps. And yes - make sure you're getting all your Protein in, as well as Fiber and some healthy fats. All that stuff keeps you feeling full longer.
