    Pre surgery prep!

I will be sleeved on June 15 and the items I have in the house: GNC total lean French vanilla and chocolate powders. These can be mixed with Water or almond milk or regular milk. Each 8 oz serving has 25 grams of Protein and they really fill you up. I also have Isopure protein water. It comes in different flavors and is 20 gr of protein for a 10 oz serving (half a bottle). I like to drink this in between meals over ice. Tastes like koolaide. IsoNatural unflavored protein powder to mix with broths when I drink them. It is 28 gr per serving but I will just put a few teaspoons to up the protein value. I also have several different broths. chicken noodle and several different types of soups/broths that I strain and just drink the broth with a little added protein powder. Some very important things that I bought ahead of time were a strainer, food scale, proper measuring cups, and a food bullet to mix shakes. One very important tip that I learned from my pcp who has had WLS is not to consume more than 20-30 gr of protein per hour. This is as much as the body can absorb and if you consume more it will be converted to glucose and you will be drinking a high protein glucose shake. I will also get some electrolyte popcycles on the way home from the hospital. As for supplements I take a liquid multivitamin and a liquid calcium with Vitamin D3. I also have a liquid Iron ordered. Good luck!!

    Haven't told anyone...

At first I wasn't going to tell anyone. Only myself and my husband would know. I did decide to tell our children. They all know and are being super supportive. I have 4 very close friends that would be hurt if I hadn't told them before the procedure and they know and are being very supportive as well. That was going to be all that I told. I did join one of those "private" June Sleever groups and found my doctor on facebook as well. That was a HUGE mistake because they may be private as to the posts and content but Facebook put that I joined the groups and that I "liked" my doctors page. Then the bombarding began!! No one was rude but lots of concern. So I immediately unjoined the groups and unliked my doctors page. facebook's idea of private and my idea of private are not the same.

    June Sleevers!

My date is June 15th. I started my preop diet Monday and a modified version the week before. So far I have lost 10 pounds. I'm so ready. Not nervous at all, just impatiently waiting and anticipating a great life ahead with half of me gone!

    Food Porn

I started my preop diet Monday with a modified version last week. The first few days I had the carb withdrawal headaches and tiredness. I'm super glad I got that out of the way and won't have to deal with it after surgery. I have lost 9 pounds so far! WooHoo! I haven't been looking at food or watching food commercials. I don't think I could resist the temptation.

  6. I have chosen Dr. john Marsden through the True Results clinic in Ft. Worth. I have been super impressed with the staff but have not yet seen Dr. Marsden. Has anyone else used him? Everything I have found on him is positive but I would love to know from people who have actually used him.

    Mexico anyone?

I am scheduled with Dr Jesus Martin Lopez on June 15th in Tijuana
  8. When I joined the FB groups it posted the fact that I joined to my wall and then my inlaws started calling and messaging telling me I was crazy and it was dangerous. When you post to the group it doesn't show but when you join the group it shows on your wall that you joined the group. Facebook has a way of using your information to their advantage. So just in case people don't want others knowing, they might be cautious. I unjoined after all the calls started coming in.

    My Fitness Pal

I notice with MyFitnessPal when the day is finished, it won't let you complete your entries for the day if the calorie count is less than 1,000. Does anyone know if this is a hard set or if it can be customized? I suspect once I am sleeved, I won't be able to consume 1,000 for a while.

I am a big fat phony failure

Yesterday was the kids last day of school and so I picked my three kids and two grandkids up early from school. The kids wanted to celebrate by going to have lunch at Chili's. There was a woman at a table over from us and she could not stop staring at me. It wasn't a flattering kind of stare. It was an OMG how can she be so big stare. Every single time I would look over when and I was taking a bite she would just shake her head in disgust. I wanted to say something so bad but wouldn't with my kids with me. I will be sleeved on June 15th. My two wishes are that a year down the road when I'm healthy that (1) I'm not a skinny bitch like that woman and (2) she is at Chili's again so that I can very politely tell her how insulting and rude her condescending stares truly are.

    help, where to start

I have mine schedule with Dr Jesus Lopez on June 15th in Tijuana through BariatricPal.com. I have been very impressed with their promptness and great service. Good luck!
  16. Found this in an article I was reading: "Why is Protein important? Proteins are a part of every cell, tissue and organ in our bodies. These body proteins are constantly being broken down and replaced. The body does not store protein for later use, therefore consuming adequate high quality protein is necessary, otherwise the body will inevitably suffer. When protein intake is not adequate, the body will break down lean body mass to compensate for poor oral intake. Loss of lean body mass is inevitable for WLS patients or individuals following a very low calorie diet. To minimize that loss, sufficient high-quality protein must be consumed."

What We Don't Want To Hear

I'm on the same page as you. I agree with the article. I have also read posts where people are trying to find the healthiest fast foods and my first thought was "that's insane". I don't want to find the best substitute for cheesecake because then it won't be long before I'm having cheesecake. As far as the first 100 pounds being the surgery... I first heard that from a nutritionist and then from a doctor. I plan to use that time to change my eating habits. Look.... Let's all be honest with each other, nothing pisses off a heavy person more than telling us we can't eat. Or that what we are eating is bad. We have failed time and time and time again because we won't face the hard truth. And the truth is the way we eat sucks!! I don't mind the hard truth. I would rather someone tell me like it is then to try and make me feel better when I screw up. I'm not saying I won't ever mess up. But I am saying that this article speaks the truth and I am going to do my utmost to conform to that way of thinking. Thanks for the article! I thought it was great!

    Body Mass Visualizer

Cool website. Thanks! I was thinking I should have an ultimate goal of 140 (which still has me in the overweight range). After looking at that, I think 130 might be doable. Thanks!
  19. I am also flying on June 14 from DFW into San Diego. My surgery is on June 15 with Dr Jesus Martin Lopez in TJ. Maybe we will meet each other there. My husband is traveling with me. Is anyone going with you?

    Fluids Nauseating Me!

Not sure if it will help, but here is a good article that I read today on Proteins. If your NUT is useless then maybe it's time to educate yourself. http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/a-beginners-guide-to-protein/?native_client=1 Also, I went to GNC and explained my issues and they pointed me in the direction of the right kinds of Protein. Good luck!!
