RuxieGirl got a reaction from ButterflyRainbow in When did you guys start drinking regular coffee again?
I am 4 months out and have a small cup every day. No problems whatsoever and my doc said it was fine. I use a splash of creamer and am very happy.

RuxieGirl got a reaction from WildGrits in 5 months post op
I am 4.5 months out and am still struggling with what to eat. I'm still eating chili almost daily. I try to make homemade but often have to resort to a can. Fortunately the can lasts for 3 meals! I have been doing meats and stews in the crockpot that I tolerate fairly well, like salsa chicken or beef stew. I can't do chicken anymore unless it's completely soft. Scrambled eggs are a big part of my diet as well. I'm tending to stick with foods that can be easily measured in a 1/4 cup scoop.
As long as your blood levels are coming back in good range and you feel well, then I think it's OK, it won't be forever. My thought is let's lose as much as we can while we don't feel like eating!

RuxieGirl got a reaction from Nyelaah in Day #3 liquid diet. Ughhhhh.
Wow, this is so hard. I am starting Day #3 and I don't even want to get out of bed. It's amazing what a motivator food was/is for me and now it's gone. I am allowed 4 shakes, 2 bars, and a small banana each day for my 14 days. What doesn't help is that I am at the beach with my 14 person extended family and there is junk food everywhere! I knew these two events would coincide but knowing it doesn't make it any easier. Plus, I am a savory/ comfort food girl, not at all into sweets, so these "chocolate" and "vanilla" "shakes" are just icky to me.
Ok, pity party over. Anyone else want to commiserate? It will all be worth it, I know, but this is really hard!!

RuxieGirl got a reaction from STARTING NEW in Looking for early July buddy!
Hey there! I am also July 6th, can't wait! I was approved in early April but chose to delay the surgery until July because I am off of work for the summer months. 34 days to go!!
I had to do 3 months of nutrition counseling, 2 individual meetings and a group class. I also have another group meeting with her before the surgery to learn exactly what the stages are before (liquid) and after the surgery. BCBS required 6 months to get approved but since I had been a member of Weight Watchers in the past 3 years they allowed me to use that for 3 months.
I would love to keep in touch with all of us July people. So excited that it's almost here!

Well, my surgery is on July 6th, and I have been a big ol' pig! My liquid diet starts a week from today and I have seriously been eating out of control. I am justifying with the "Oh, I won't be able to have this after this week!" mentality. Did any of you do this? Is it horribly wrong or just kinda what we do? I'm trying to curb it a little bit, like tonight we had a really healthy dinner.
I don't know, what are your thoughts on this? I really think I'm going to have to go get a banana milkshake from my favorite place one last time this week!

RuxieGirl got a reaction from bvenegas in When did you start to feel like yourself again?
Just wondering how long after surgery did you start to feel "normal" again? Or, I guess, maybe the new normal that is your life post-surgery? When did your energy come back and you start to be fairly active again? ot necessarily running miles, but back to your activity level pre-surgery? Basically, when did you feel like YOU again?

RuxieGirl got a reaction from recordsmom in Just bought my last "big" clothes!
Hi, everyone! My name is Allie and my journey is getting underway. I was approved by insurance in early April but chose to wait to have my surgery in July because I work at a public school and have the summer off to recuperate and have some time to get used to my new way of life. My surgery is scheduled for July 6th and the wait has been agonizing. I have a few more appointments, nutritional counseling sessions and my pre-op appointment with my surgeon, and then it's time!
Today I went to the mall because I needed a few more warm-weather shirts to get me through the end of the school year and the beginning of summer. As I was making my way through the 2X shirts in the Women's Department, it dawned on me that this might be the last time I ever have to buy plus-sized clothes. I actually got a little misty at the thought! I walked around dress department (non-plus-size) and thought about the fact that some of those dresses might look fantastic on me in the upcoming months, what an amazing feeling! The idea that I might love shopping one day is incredibly exciting.
Anyway, wanted to start sharing my journey with you. I'm looking forward to getting to know many of you and helping support you all. Thanks for sharing this journey with me!
