  1. Hey to all ???? today I'm 11 days post-op and I got on scale, and I'm 17.6 pounds down from surgery, 33.7 pounds total. Yay ????I can't believe it's that much already.

You're doing fantastic already! What have you been having for meals?:)
thank you ???? I've been doing Fat free cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta cheese bake, refried Beans with melted mozzarella cheese, low sodium Tomato Soup with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and onion puréed.
Oh okay! I'm on full liquids for two weeks so can't eat those quite yet! But thanks for the tips ????

  2. Woke up in quite a bit of pain today because I slept in my bed ALL night long and have only been able to do that for part of the night, but that quickly melted away when I realized I finally joined the losers bench today. I am 2 pounds lighter than my hospital admission weight and I am so excited I can't seem to contain it!

YAY! You're On Your Way Now! I had my one week post op visit yesterday, in down 7lbs since surgery! I couldn't believe my eyes, thought the scale was wrong. It is so motivating. ????

Yay! So happy for you!!!! The scale is not wrong!! All your hard work is paying off tremendously!!!:)

Whoo hoo ! 2 lbs. any loss is great.

    Congrats

Well I was up 5 pounds from my hospital admission weight when I went home the next day because of all the fluids they gave me, so if we count that loss then I'm down 7 pounds from that!!:)

  3. Hey peeps. So far so good. I'm doing good although I have not had a BM yet. It's been 4 days. Is this mormal?

    When was your surgery?

Mine was Monday and they said if I hadn't had any inkling of having one Thursday (today) at noon I should medicate with miralax to have results by Friday.

I had results today on its own, though!

Mine was Monday too. But I'm wondering if it's also due to pain meds I'm on. I have previous pain from neck back leg and feet. So I'm in morphine sulfer. Norco gabapentin and cymbalta. I took a colace 100mg today
You may want to take some miralax!

  4. Anybody have any advice on how to get rid of back pain while trying to heal? My heating pad just isn't doing it for me anymore and the pain is pretty terrible :(

Hot shower. Did Dr give you pain meds ? Does walking help?

The heating pad is my go to , but as you said not helping you.

    Hope feels better soon

Thanks for responding! I do have pain meds and I took a shower yesterday!

I also had my first post-op bowel movement today and that seemed to help a bit! Walking does help but it's been rainy and there's not much space to walk around in my house! Thanks for answering!

  5. imjenn thank you for understanding! I never thought of food as an addiction until recently. I'm really struggling with it. They all know I'm having the surgery done. I'm a very open person. If I can't share these big decisions in my life with people I see everyday I question the decision. They just don't seem to understand! I'm thinking about checking out some podcasts or a book about food addiction that may bring some help motivating and keep me on the right path!

I remind people that it's an addiction just like alcohol or nicotine or anything like that! A lot of people seem to forget this! You seem to be doing a great job on keeping yourself on track! I have no doubts you will be fine!!!:)

  6. Hi Jenn. Yea we made it through! Post op day 3 and gas and pain is going away. Doc sent me home Tuesday afternoon even though I was still in pain. They gave me some liquid pain killer but cant get it down. Walking has helped a bunch! Still tough getting enough fluids down but hoping with time I can hit my nutrition goals. Hope you are still doing well.

Sorry to hear about your issues with the pain meds :( I can keep mine down just fine and if I stay on top of them I feel pretty great! I was lucky and did not have gas pain! I also got to go home Tuesday afternoon! Since then I've tried to focus on Water and milk and any liquid but I do agree it's very hard! I did, however, have the dreaded 'first bowel movement' after surgery today and it's honestly made me feel 10x better than I felt before! I hope things continue to look up for you! What are you eating for meals?

  7. People just don't understand how much we are pressured by society when it comes to food! I've heard people tell obese people to quit 'stuffing their face' and lose weight but most don't understand that just like any addiction, food addiction is very real and obesity is a disease that needs to be treated as such in order to be overcome. It starts with you, though! I'm very proud that you're sticking to your guns!

  8. I had my bypass May 11th!:)

I have 7 very large incisions in my abdomen that my surgeon had to make large because of all this muscle I had in my abdomen from my basketball days. Otherwise, everything has been going great! I was discharged from the hospital yesterday and since I've been struggling with pain. They prescribed my meds for every 6 hours which I promptly called and asked if I could do them every 4 which wasn't an issue! Other than that, I'm feeling better every day! I'm so glad to have other may people out there to talk through things!!!:)

  9. I just kept in mind that the surgery was about as risky as a gallbladder removal and kept that thought in my head. I'm two days post-op but don't think that you're the only one who was scared of the surgery! I was terrified. But I kept thinking, I'm 21 years old with hypertension, I can't keep putting this much strain on myself of I WILL die earlier than expected. Being obese or overweight is not good for your body and I realize everybody is scared to lose you early, but you should be scared about losing yourself. It's about you. And it is scary but I have great high hopes that you will be just fine ❤️ chin up.

  10. Hi Imjenn! Seems like a lot compared to others. How are you doing? I'm almost 3 weeks post op. Doing better every day. Where did you have your surgery?

Yes it is! But my pain is very well controlled!:)

I'm doing pretty great! Supper didn't go so well yesterday because I just was not hungry, but looking forward to Breakfast today!

And I had mine at Sanford in Sioux Falls, South Dakota!
