  1. I thought you were talking to me because you quoted my post. Just like I quoted your post you knew I was talking to you. Generally when you quote someones post you are usually referring to them and not the OP. Sorry, maybe I have just been on Forums too long, lol. I run a tech forum with 10,000+ users and we are very picky about the way we quote and direct messages. My bad! But yes, we are saying the same thing I replied cause you quoted my post first.. and sort of seemed like you were disagreeing with me, so I was confused in the first place. Oh no, I was not disagreeing with you at all. I was just pointing out that the rate of decline will be different for each person. I was agreeing with you. The first line of my post was "This is true." Cant agree with someone any more than that now can you

  3. Yes this is true. But it depends on the person. I started off with a BMI over 60 and a net weight of 400+ pounds so I think I will continue to shed at a more rapid weight than someone starting off with a BMI of 40. Plus adding exercise (long brisk walks) helps too. It will be very interesting to see where I am in 90 days. Im pretty excited and motivated thus far! Plus if it doesnt slow down I would weigh 0 pounds at the end of 4 months I started at 314.. it still will slow down.. some people lose it all in 6 months.. others take 18 months.. I'm just saying that you wont' continue to lose 40 pounds a month. I've lost 40 in 2 months.. and workout very rigorously.. Let me clarify my post... Yes, it will slow down. This is a biological fact. However, the rate at which it slows is dependent upon nutrition intake, exercise and starting BMI (some even say attitude). Im not disagreeing with anyone that says it will slow down. There is no doubt whatsoever about this. Im just stating the rate of decline will be different for everyone. I dont expect nor would I want to loose at my current rate forever as I would soon be invisible in less than 5 months

9 days post op and I am HUNGRY!

Yes this is VERY true even without surgery. About 7 years ago, when I really started gaining weight my doctor told me the same thing. I said to myself, "What does he know? Im really hungry!" Ughhh... Cant turn back time but can learn and move forward!

  6. Wow! I was just coming on here to ask the same question! I had VSG on 4/20. My starting weight was about 418. Yesterday I weighed in at 385! I thought the scale was broke so I tried another one at the walk in clinic. It was accurate. So I am with you, about 2.5 pounds a day is what I loose. All of my foods thus far have been step 2 slider foods. I think thats what they are called (I'm a newb). I have eaten nothing but Protein supplements, soup, Greek yogurt and sip Water all day. For the first time in over 5 years I was able to walk 1 complete mile without any back pain (which was the reason I got the surgery, facet joint disorder in my lower back). I feel energized all the time where as before surgery, I would want to take naps during the day. Could barely stay awake for an 8 hour shift at work. I had a couple friends tell me that even after 6 weeks of being on disability they could barely muster the energy to go back to work. IM on my second week off and I am dying to go back to work (Ok, I am not dying to go to work but you get the idea ). Glad I am not alone in thinking that I am loosing too fast!

9 days post op and I am HUNGRY!

I had my VSG just 14 days ago and I can tell you that my hunger comes and goes. I emailed my Dr's team and they advised I was probably not getting enough Protein. Sure enough, when I increased my protein it helped the hunger subside. I also have to remind myself to constantly sip Water. Its easy to forget to do. I also have to stay on a strict schedule for eating. If I miss a meal / snack by an hour or so it can seriously exacerbate the situation. So for me, adding protein, sipping water constantly, and staying on my prescribed dietary schedule helps keep my hunger in check. If I miss anyone of those things I will feel like I have not eaten in weeks. Hope this helps!
