Thoughts and Opinions...
Has anyone gone back to liquids for a jumpstart to a fresh start? I have been pretty much unfilled for the past 2 months due to gall bladder issues. At least that is what I am writing it off for. Anywho, I had my gallbladder out and have been eating pretty much anything and everything I want to... I will say I can't eat the quantities I used to, but I have DEFINITELY been eating the wrong stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if I gained several pounds back... I see the doc. on Friday for a fill. Should I do liquids until then to get back on track or just pick up tomorrow like nothing has happened and go back to eating the right way? Thanks in advance! JayJay

Trying not to worry...
Hi All, Are there reasons other than band slipping that you suddenly can't keep anything down? Last trip to the doc was in July. Everything has been great up until a few days ago. Not only do I have trouble keeping food down after the third bite, but I have a hard time swallowing my small pills in the morning. I will call the doc tomorrow, but any info is appreciated... Thanks!!!

Gall Bladder Attack?
Hiya!! This past Saturday I thought I needed to be put of of my misery. The only thing I think it could be was a gall bladder attack. It was on the right side of my chest and went through to my back I am wondering if anyone else has exprienced the pain and can you describe it? I wanted to go to the ER, but since we are dealing with the after effects of Hurricane IKE I didn't want to be a nuisance if it was nothing. The pain lasted about 2 hours and the following day I was a little sore. Thanks a bunch!! JJ

Wow just tried PB2 Peanut Butter
Howdy, A friend of mine gave me a present yesterday. I got a jar of PB2. I made a little bit of it and it was VERY tasty! I can't wait to try cooking and baking with it. For those of you that are not familar with it, it is powdered Peanut Butter that is 75% less fat and fewer calories. I looked it up and it is a bit pricey, but I think it is so worth it!!! Anywho, I just wanted to share. Toodles JJ

Sweet Spot?
Hi All, I assume food getting stuck means there is restriction. I can eat one type of fish yet, another one gets stuck and wont go down. Some times chicken works, other times it wont. I feel like I am hungry a lot. I never feel full. Satisfied, maybe every now and then. My stomach seems to growl a lot. Does that mean I still have a way to go to my sweet spot? Could there be something wrong? Thanks! JJ

Is it just a coincidence?
Hi, I had my surgery at the end of December. Before surgery it was VERY unlikely for me to be sick or even catch a cold. Since January I have had a cold and now have my second sinus infection. Has anyone experienced something like this or is it just a coincidence? Thanks! JJ

lap banding on soap opera
I haven't watched GL in a few weeks. I finally caught it on Friday. I am so excited to see that Ashlee's character is having the surgery. I think it will open a lot of eyes to what we have gone through. I hope they play it off truthfully.

NSV (Non Scale Victories)
Im so excited! I was looking through my closet a few minutes ago and came across and outfit WAAAAAAAAAAAY in the back. I was really surprised that I still had it. Let's just say the first and last time I wore it was about 5 years ago. It's a dressy outfit that I bought for my Grandmother's 90th B-Day Party.... Guess what, IT FITS!!!! I was shocked. Everyone says that they can see that I have lost weight, but I don't see it. This evening I saw it!!! All of you my "Bandster" family are the first to know!! Now to make some phone calls. Thanks for listening, or I should say reading!!! jj

SUPER SORE after a fill
My first 2 fills were a breeze. One prick and in 5 minutes it was over. However, yesterday I wasn't so lucky. The doc had a hard time finding the "spot". I wasn't poked more than once, but he did a lot of digging with the needle. Today I hurt.:tongue_smilie: Im guessing that should be expected, right? Thanks!

This is probably a stupid question, but...
Hi All, I have finally figured out the restriction feeling. But, what does being full feel like? Is it your typical, I am full feeling? Or is it a feeling of food coming back up? Thanks! JJ

Pre-op diet
I was put on a 14 day liquid diet to shrink my liver. I was allowed up to 5 slim fast shakes a day. I was able to subsititue one shake with low fat soup. They had to be chunk free. The first few days were rough, but then I got used to it. I liked not having to figure out what I was going to eat. Plus, it was a great jump start for weight loss. GOOD LUCK!

Staying in Hospital
It was required by my doc to stay over night. I was hooked up to an IV to keep me hydrated. Meds were administered for nausea. I was monitored to make sure I had no infection. The bed was comfy and I had things on my legs to prevent blood clots. I'm glad I had to stay.

BP Meds
How soon do people usually go off them? I have high blood pressure, but it's controlled with meds. I was banded on 12/27/07. Since my 2 week preop diet I have lost 30 lbs. However the last 2 times I went to the doc my BP was pretty high. ( It could be nerves) I sure would like for weight loss to regulate my BP so I can get off my meds. Thanks! JJ

Self Pay and Fills...
Hi All, I am a self pay and I went for my first fill yesterday. Silly me forgot to ask how many fills I am good for before having to start paying... Are there any other self payers that had a package deal and a certain amount of fills were covered? Thanks! JJ

How Many Last Meals ... ?
I SO went through my "Last" Supper stage! I ended up gaining 8lbs. However did quickly lose them on my 2 week pre-op liquids. Was it worth it? At that time I thought so though, but not in the long run. GOOD LUCK with your journey!

Fever Blisters and Cold Sores
Hi All, I am prone to fever blisters/cold sores when I have an upset stomach, under a large amount of stress or even too much sun. Anyway, I was banded on 12/27/07 and have been dealing with them. I know it's not because of the sun, maybe it's stress from the band or a virus, but I feel fine. I called my doc, and he said he didn't think it had anything to do with the band. So I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Thanks! JJ

A question for all teachers.
Hi Harmony, I do not know how old your Special Ed students are, but I am a kindergarten teacher with Special Ed inclusion. I had my surgery on Dec. 27th and went back to work on Jan 7th. After surgery I was told that I can not lift anything over 20lbs for the next 6-8 weeks. Being back in the classroom it has been hard with my inclusion kiddo. I learned very fast that I cannot "pull" him up if he is not doing what he is supposed to be doing. It hurt! Other than being tired the few days back I haven't had any problems.
