Oh my goodness, I have finally found someone that said everything I am feeling. I'm so glad to know I'm not alone in feeling this way. My surgery is not until Sept and I can have an axiety attack just thinking about it. Thanks for sharing the way you are feeling, it validates we ARE normal.

    Manic Monday.....

So glad you are on your way to healing and losing. I pray you continue to improve each and every day. It's these kinds of post that give the scared ones (like myself) the courage to press on. Looking forward to following your progress.

  5. I know exactly how you feel. My surgery isn't even until Sept and if I think about it i can get the nauseous feeling and butterflies in my stomach too. I do pray for a speedy recovery but I truly believe the pre surgery jitters will be the worse part of it all. I hope so anyway. Good luck, and I can't wait to follow your progress.
  6. Good luck this morning. You will be starting your new life at the very time I will be attending my 2nd nutrition class. I will say a prayer for you as I enter the class. I pray for your nerves to calm, your worries to be small, your pain to be minimum, and your healing to be be quick. Can't wait to follow your progress. I know you must be excited, you cross to other side today!!! Best of luck!!

    Not sure why

Djmohr, I hope and pray that your spine issues are healed soon and that this will be your last surgery. I can only imagine what fear you must face with those surgeries. I pray you will experience relief soon. You so deserve it. I did admire your perseverance and determination in all you have accomplished.

    Not sure why

@@Djmohr you always make me feel better when I start to chicken out. I am trying to live without NSAIDS now bc I know I will have to later but boy is it painful. The joints in all my fingers, my knees, and hips not to mention the excruciating pain of plantar faciitis. I stopped my prescription medicine now by choice but I know later I won't be able to as I also plan to do this the right way. I am so hopeful I feel much better afterwards. Thank you so much for reassuring us all when we have fear or doubts.

    Not sure why

I have wondered the same questions. Honestly, the closer my date gets the more scared I become. I do understand the fear of the unknown long term. One question I would like to ask is if anyone has actually asked their surgeon what happens in the event of arthritis? What if a need arises for an NSAID or anti-inflammatory? There are so many illnesses that may call for for a steroid, another "no no" after surgery.

  17. My name is Tina. I am 42 years old and a mother of 3, grandmother of 2. I am currently an OB nurse. During my recent mandatory annual physical I found out I am diabetic, high blood pressure and specifically high triglycerides. I was already suffering from lower extremity edema and plantar fasciitis making it extremely painful to do my fast pace job. My cw is 248, hw 252 ht 5'6. I am currently in the process of having my 4 nutritionist visits which must be 30 days apart. All other pre requisites have been completed with an anticipated roux en y sometime in September. I am doing this in secret but turned to my work family for support due to so many of them already having the surgery and simply because they would know when I went out on medical leave bc no matter what laws are supposed to protect your privacy, there will always be that talk in the workplace and I just figured it would sound better coming from me. The ones that have had the surgery are very supportive, however the last 2 days I feel as though I have been cornered and bombarded by a couple of the physicians. I was told today I was taking the easy way out??? What is easy about this?? I was told this was not normal or natural and there would be long term effects from it. I am already scared to death, but I am equally as scared not to have the surgery. Why must people say anything if they can't say things to help? What's worse is it's SKINNY people with all the advise!! How can you give advise about something you have never lived??? I don't see this as an easy way out, it's one of the hardest decisions I've ever made so why do I feel like I'm losing respect from ones that used to respect me? I am so thankful for this site. When I'm feeling down or confused I come here and get my head back on straight. So, thank you to every single person that shares their experience. You ARE helping others whether you know it or not.

    Frustrated, confused and scared

@ newstart38, good for you for putting her in her place. For the life of me I cannot understand where people think it is okay to minimize the extreme courage it takes to commit to this journey. I was actually told by one of the physicians that the only reason people were overweight was because they ate too much and didn't exercise. Omg I was livid, that simply isn't always the case. Anyway, good luck to you also in this journey and thank God we have each other on this site to come to and lean on.

    Frustrated, confused and scared

Thank you so much for replying. Yes it is the same as giving parenting advise without having children. And what is this "normal" they speak of? Who sets the standard for that anyway? Is it "normal" to be 100 lbs overweight? I think not!! My decision has been made but I certainly need the prayers for peace. Thank you!

    GOT MY DATE - JUNE!

How do you add friends up here?
  22. I fear this will be the hardest thing for me to accept and deal with also. I, the same as you only drink water but no doubt a gulper. Does this get any better at all? Are you starting to get used to it? I can't imagine being thirsty and unable to drink enough water to satisfy the dryness.

    ABG

@@caligul, it is crazy how the hoops of fire we each have to jump through is different. The labs, the xrays, outpatient tests, even the pre op diet all different for one common surgery, one common goal. I agree, absolutely crazy! The ABG was almost a deal breaker for me. That's one test I have always been scared of. He's also the only surgeon in my area that requires this test, however he is also the surgeon that my insurance covers with the least out of pocket so I was in a catch 22. I'm really glad I got it over with and glad you don't have to have it either
  24. Praying for a speedy recovery. Can't wait for your update as soon as you feel up to it. Good luck!!
  25. Smye, this thread and these recipes are awesome!! Thank you so very much for sharing. My surgery will be in September, I can hardly wait but I am preparing my kitchen and planning my meals for afterwards and your recipes will be a large part of that. Just wanted to extend my appreciation!!
