  1. So I did already post this in the pregnancy forum, but it seems to not have too many ppl active, I mean who can blame them, they are all busy mama's So I will try here. I'm about 7 1/2 months post vsg and took 2 home pregnancy tests one on 1/1/16 and again on 1/2/16 and they both came back positive, I'm still in shock, hasn't sank in at all yet!! I really thought it would never happen and especially not this quick, I've been tracking my periods and ovulation for about 6 months and since surgery I've been regular every month with no meds, which had never happened! So when I was late in Dec I just had a feeling, I figure I'm 4 weeks based on my tracking app. I am going to make an appt to confirm with my dr hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday, and of course will get info from her, but I'm the type of person who likes to plan and do tons of research, and this will be my first. My questions are these, I'm down 75 lbs which is great, not to goal, but I know that will come in time, so I was curious what a sample day of meals looks like for you all. From what I read it's not a ton more calories that should be added, I have read 18-24 lbs gain is about normal. I want to stay with healthy Protein, fruits and veggies of course similar to what I have now, I've read about a lot of foods to avoid, just curious for some feedback. I do plan on talking to my nut as well. Any and all feedback is appreciated, Thanks!!

    Work

I took 6 weeks, and was so glad I did. Thankfully I was able and my job was very supportive. Although I don't have a super strenuous job, I didn't anticipate the lack of energy, getting soo tired and not being able to walk long at all without getting tired. So you want to keep that in mind as you won't be taking in a lot of calories.

    May sleevers

I got sleeved may 20th also, on soft foods now. Meals are anywhere from 1/2 - 3/4 cup total and snacks no more 1/2 cup or 8 oz protein shake, per my Nut
  6. M.E.Flores

    Protein

Mine advised 80-100 grams a day. My Nut is super adamant about me getting enough protein, "The body's architect" she says ????????
  7. My nut advised meals should be no more than 3/4 cup and snacks no more than 1/2 cup, but I can rarely finish that much
  8. I was sleeves on May 20th and I'm 25, you're not alone! ????I was sleeved in the 26th and I'm actually 21! The whole no-alcohol thing seems to be the hardest for me right now because all of my friends are having birthdays and the bar is where we all seem to hang out now!Awesome! I'm so glad to finally find some people on here around my age. Not that everyone here hasn't been super helpful, I just feel like it's such a different experience going through this when we're young. It's a fairly new procedure for weight - loss and we're going to be living with it for a long, long time! I agree the non-alcohol thing is difficult. I pretty much told my friends I'd be going into hibernation for a couple of months since most of our activities have revolved around alcohol. I'm going to make it work though and still find ways to go out and have fun until then. We should definitely all keep in touch since we were sleeved at the same time and will be going through all the stages together. Yeah for sure! Are you on soft foods yet? I start Thursday and can't wait! I lost 12 lbs by day 5 post and haven't lost anything since I'll be 2 weeks post tomorrow, guessing my body is in survivor mode and maybe will start the scale will start moving again when I can get some actual food in ✌????️

    HELP....painful gas

Man oh man I feel you! Gas pain is the worst I have gotten it every day since surgery (8 days post op today) and it sux! If I'm laying down or sitting back in a chair, I slowly sit up straight, and either walk if I cannot if someone is nearby rubbing your back upward or lightly patting it (hey it works for baby's) lol and it will subside. Good luck but know we are all in this together ????????
  11. wow that's awesome you're on soft foods, I'm 8 days post and can't do soft until day 15, can't wait! Lol sounds like everything is going well with you, Nice! ????????
  12. Hey all! So I'm a very competitive person and expect myself to always go above and beyond and I'm not beating myself up or anything, just trying to figure out how to shake things up. So I started at 340 pre-op, I lost 12 lbs pre-op (328 day of surgery) and by 5 days post op I was down another 12 lbs which I'm super happy about. (Currently at 316) So I'm at a total weight loss of 24lbs. For 3 days in a row I have Stayed the same weight. I'm following everything like I should, the hardest is getting in enough water and I am going to try and walk more, I just get so tired easy and that frustrates me. I did decide today I'm not going to weigh in every day anymore. How much have you all lost at 8 days post? And how did u overcome stalls. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! ❤️
  13. Hey everyone! So I'm on full liquid stage now and was interested to know what Soups do you guys use. My doc ok'd blending and straining soups, and I know they need to be low fat and low salt, wanted to get some input and what brands or flavors you all have had success with and don't get sick of. Thanks!! ❤️
  14. Well I got a call from the hospital they there was a cancellation so they bumped me from 4pm to 1pm ! On my way, almost there. Strangely I'm not nervous one bit lol Just listening to the white buffalo in the car and totally chilling Good Luck to everyone else getting sleeved today!
  15. yeah gas pain is probably the most annoying for me to so far, walking does help that. I'm 3 days post today, glad surgery is done with tho huh!? I'm also just doing sips of water, today was my first full day home, it took me about an hour to drink about 5 oz broth sipping of course. Day by day it all gets a little better
  16. OMG this is soooo true!! Haha I had surgery Wednesday as well ????

    Today's the day!

Hi guys! So I have Update # 3 coming. I am now 3 days post op, came home yesterday afternoon, so I was in the hospital 2 nights and 2 1/2 days total. I'm feeling better and better each day. Being at home does help to boost your overall wellness. Still no nausea, main problem has been gas pain, which comes and goes, so I'm trying to walk as much as possible. Last night was a little sleepless, you get used to that adjustable firm bed in the hospital and my I usually love soft comfy beds, so my bed at home is a memory foam, but need more back support since surgery. So I am going to get a foam wedge for support I feel that will be a huge difference! I have been able to manage my pain with meds. And have been doing a little better getting my liquids in. It is still tough, my doc wants me to get in 60 oz a day so as not to dehydrate. I weighed myself yesterday when I got home just to see and I weighed the same, due to all the IV liquids, hands and feet were a little swollen as well. (I lost 12 pounds preop) decided to weigh in again today and I'm down 4 lbs so far. I'm not obsessing over the scale but I do want to keep an eye on progress of course. Hope everyone else is well! Will update again soon ✌????️

    What kind of broths?

you didn't have any problems with acid reflux with the tomato? I'm onto full liquids on Sunday and am apprehensive about acidic foodsThanks so much everyone, this helps greatly!! No, I didn't. But, ask your team because not everyone would allow these until full liquids. My NUT also suggested Pacific Foods bone broth because it has more Protein than regular broth nut since the ProtiDiet Soups worked for me I didn't try the bone broth. Yeah I will be on full liquids tomorrow! Yay lol I have been doing the pacific organic bone broth low sodium but it is quite flavorless, maybe I'll try regular and cut it with a little Water. Thanks for all the input!
  20. Hi all! I'm 2 days post op yay! And back home this afternoon, it was a rough first day, so glad I'm on the other side now, and it's my first post in the post op forum My question is this, I have today and tomorrow left of clear liquids what brands, favors, different kinds of broths have you all used. I haven't been able to consume much but now that I'm home and off IV I don't want to get dehydrated. I'm sipping water, but want to get some broth in, any input helps thanks!!

    Today's the day!

Thanks all! Your support means so much!! Update #2 It's just about 10 pm Cali time, just had another walk, I'd say the hardest thing is getting liquids in, I didn't realize how little our new stomachs can hold, I mean of course we go to the classes and they tell us how small it will be but attempting to drink is another story. I find it's easier to do ice chips rather than Water. broth I can usually just get in about 2-4 tablespoons at lunch and dinner, Jello has been hard, I usually can tolerate about 1 tablespoon, and ice chips about 2-4 tablespoons maybe 3 times a day it all varies. But not once have I vomitted Yay lol. Did have some nausea this morning when starting the liquids but just one dose of nausea meds and it was gone about 20 mins later and has yet to return (fingers crossed) the laparoscopic incisions I guess you could call them are quite small I have 4 and bandages will be changed tomorrow, should have no scarring, I can't rave about my Dr enough. Dr Chen at ucla, I feel so fortunate. Anyway going to rest a little and make another restroom trip ( sorry if that's TMI, but I had to use a catheter all day yesterday so not needing one is a small win! ) hope everyone else is doing well on whichever part of your journey you're on, we will get thru this!!

    1 Week Post Op

today was slightly better than yesterday, doc decided to keep me one more night as it was very difficult to get liquids in, and didn't want me dehydrating, which I'm fine with, I'm about an hour away from my hospital if there's no traffic so it rather be here if something were to happen I got some pain meds about 45 mins ago and they are kicking yay! Should be going home tomorrow mid day God willing

    Today's the day!

Update #1 I am now 1 day post-op, and feeling pretty good. I got here at 12pm yesterday, UCLA hospital and had complete confidence in my Dr, which I am sure is why I wasn't nervous. I got checked in fairly quick and spoke with my Dr, anesthesiologist, and nurses and was prepped for surgery by about 130pm. I was wheeled in, my anesthesiologist, gave me some anesthesia by IV, then put a mask on me and told me to take deep breathes, and Literally the next thing I remember is walking up in recovery. I was in recovery for quite some time, as I felt very nauseas, and was in quite a bit of pain. Id say that's been the worst, but I got lots of pain meds, knocked out and woke up up feeling a lot better, not trying to scare anyone, everybody responds different. Had a pretty restless night, due to having to get up and walk every 4 hours, which came pretty easy for me. Then I got hiccups, those darn hiccups hurt, but didn't last to long. I wasnt allowed any liquids yesterday, I was just brought water, broth and jello, got 60 cc's down, goin in for a little more. Will update again later
