    Medicare

Sleeved 4/22/2015. I used Medicare with a plan F supplemental. The clinic I went to got all the prior approval. There are some costs that medicare would not cover. A blood test for Iron, and a stool test for blood. But I believe the reason they didn't pay was the coding the lab/dr. used. They also do not pay for a nutritionist after surgery. So I declined to go to one. Once medicare denys then the supplement also denies. On the good side, I received the hospital statement. 37,000 and it was covered 100%. No co pay, no deductible. I think it was so high because they found a massive hernia while they were in there.

Just sleeved April 29th - Oh the nausea!

What I have determined about the liquid diet. 1. Air in the stomach is a no no. So if you blend a shake let it settle before you start drinking it. Ice is full of air. If you chew ice you will probably hear your stomach gurgling. 2. If I took too big a gulp I would feel a pain in the center of my chest. Sip, Sip, Sip. I think a spritz bottle would even be better. 3. Dark chocolate shakes were just too chocolaty. I took an 11 ounce shake and added a scoop of the vanilla Protein powder and a little milk and it was great. 4. I alternated shake, Water, and milk. 5. Tylenol made me sick 6. costco sell Eco Vitamins. Mixes with water and is easy to take. Gives all your multiple Vitamin needs, and your Fluid intake at the same time. 7. Get a timer that beeps at you every 15 minutes and don't go over the 1 oz of fluid.

    Pre-op liquid diet

I fell off my diet too the week before surgery but still met my weight loss goal. Sort of a funeral for the foods I loved the most and knew I would probably never eat again. It was not a problem. The main thing is liquids only the day before surgery, nothing to eat or drink after 8:00 the evening before. Good Luck. This is an amazing ride.

4/27--it's about to get real! Day surgery?

I had my surgery at 9:30 on 4/22/2015. It was a breeze. I was a little nervous about the IV (I have invisible veins), but they did a great job. The Anesthetist was a dreamboat and at 65, I could get by with lots of flirting. I spent the night at the hospital and went home about 11:00 on the 23rd. It was no problem. I felt fine. A little sore, but I was on pain meds. Once home and in bed I slept a lot. Trick was, I had a friend stay with me the first week. She woke me up every 15 minutes to sip my one ounce of liquid. Get a digital egg timer. Mine clips onto my clothes. Get off the pain meds as soon as possible. Milk of Mag is the worst thing I have had in my life. YUCK. Liquid Tylenol made me sick.
