MarceMonster got a reaction from sweesee in Why Getting Sleeved was the Biggest Mistake of My Life
I don't understand why the option is to be sleeved and lose muscle or lose weight on your own and be successful or better off. Why isn't the option to get sleeved and exercise intensively so you do not lose muscle mass. Also the entire reason we are given Protein goals is to prevent muscle loss. Also you don't actually know the science. You can lose plenty of fat from calorie restriction/ diet. Please, please, please, anyone who is reading this post because you are on the fence about getting WLS ignore this women; she clearly didn't follow the her program.

I watched a YouTube video made by a bariatric surgeon all about how lower BMI surgeries are usually really successful. He says they tend to have way less (sometime no) excess skin, and tend to reach their goal within a year. I think his name is Dr. Mathew Weiner. He considered low BMI vsg anyone who is under a BMI of 37. You guys will look amazing. Good luck with your surgeries!!!!

The problem here is in your original post you "spoke" as if your experience was factual. Most people do not have surgery two weeks after deciding they want to. For instance it took me close to a year before I was approved for surgery. I had to see a nutritionist for 6 months to learn proper eating habits, I saw a psychologist for 7 months before surgery, and I started at the gym 3 months before surgery, also I did a ton of research on my own. I don't think people mean to attack you personally, but you could be causing damage to some other vulnerable person by creating a post riddled with factual errors. Yes as you said earlier so far you have failed your sleeve, your sleeve did not fail you. So once again, any newbies thinking about surgery realize it's a hard road, and that some people just aren't up for it, but that overall most people are successful, healthier, happy people. I am happy than I have ever been, I am down almost 40 lbs, a exercise more, have more energy, MORE MUSCLE, and actually my marriage has even improved because my husband has taken the time to learn everything with me and support me all the way. Please, please, don't trust this women's ideas of WLS.

I am sorry, but there is one more thing I need to add: if you are so sure about the right way to lose weight, why aren't you losing weight? You are three years out, if you followed those simple rules you laid out, why have you gained 25 lbs?

I know, it's such a crazy concept to me. I am so excited about taking this journey and I can't wait for all the changes to come. I think what I am
Most excited for is having better mobility; To be able to go hiking without my back hurting. Obviously, I look forward to having a smaller waistline too! I can't believe it is only 3 days away, it's getting real now!!!!❗️????❗️

Hey guys, so I am 5 feet tall, which is really short! I was hoping to hear from some other short Sleevers, so I can have a better expectation of weight loss. How much weight did you guys lose/ how quickly? Does anyone have before and after photos? It's crazy when your this short, because the BMI charts all day that I am supposed to weigh between 95-105lbs; I can't even imagine what I would look like at 105lbs. Anyway, if there are any short Sleevers out there who could give me some insight that would be awesome. Thank you guys!!!

MarceMonster got a reaction from siddarhi in i think i have bulimia
Not only is being bulimic and overweight possible, but I learned in my Abnormal Psychology course that it is the norm. Apparently a large percentage of bulimic patients are overweight. This is partially because bulimia often goes hand in hand with binge eating and after you consume 3,000-10,000 calories in a sitting and then purge you are only getting rid of at most 50% of the original intake. In other words it is common the people who suffer with bulimia are still consuming more then the average person, in terms of calories. That being said it is treatable and like any other habit it can be broken. If the OP's main concern is stomach stretching, please do t worry about that. I saw a great YouTube video regarding stomach stretching post sleeve surgery : look up Dr Mathew Weiner Stomach Stretching video, he explains it better then I can!

MarceMonster got a reaction from anna9/15 in 30 ans under sleevers?
Ok. Well, I am 27 and I had surgery a little over 3 months ago - June 1st. Things have been going relatively ok so far. My stats are as fallows:
    HW - 235
    SW - 222.5
    CW - 189
I am only 5 feet tall so I have set my goal weight to between 120-125. In terms of my diet, I try to stay on plan as much as I can. I would probably say I eat according to my doctors plan about 95% of the time. I have had a few moments so far where k decided to have a treat. Although I am not hungry very often, I try to eat every three hours, as instructed by my NUT. Sometimes this can be a struggle and it feels like I am forcing myself to eat.
I eat between 650-800 calories per day. I also workout 6 days per week and burn between 250-350 calories. I eat 60-80g Protein and try to keep my Net Carbs below 45g per day. Most of the time I am happy with my diet and can handle it without a problem; other times it's a struggle.
With regards to my quality of life, it has drastically improved. I went from not being able to walk for more then 15 minutes without being in pain, to being able to walk for an hour or more at a time. I make sure to exercise 5-6 days a week to help improve my fitness level. I also have a lot more energy then I did before.
Did you have any other questions could answer for you? I am not sure what else you want to know.

I think everyone has given you great advice. I too get freaked out when I see I have lost less weight then I expected, but I am trying to teach myself otherwise. You need to think of it this way, so what if you "only lost two pounds", 2 lbs a week over the course of a year is 104 lbs. that's a lot of weight! Now obviously you are not going to lose at the same rate every week, but some weeks will be more then 2lbs, some will be less, but they will average out in the end.

I got serious right away during my 6 month wait that the insurance required. I lost 60 pounds and still went through with it. I knew I could do it on my own too, but always had trouble keeping it off. I met my goal in 6 months and Aug 25th was my one year anniversary. I don't have a single regret. Not one!

I was required to do a 6 month, doctor supervised diet as part of my insurance approval process. So yes, I did lose weight during my waiting period. To be honest, I probably only gave it my best the last two months. I was losing weight all along but very, very, slowly! I lost a total of about 14lbs prior to my surgery. Obviously, this was not enough to push me towards not having surgery. I had pretty much made up my mind though before I was even approved that I wanted to go through with surgery no matter what.
Even if you loose a significant amount of weight, I would still be concerned about keeping it off. I believe the stats are something like : only 5% of people who lose weight, on their own (not wls), keep the weight of past two years. Now, don't quote me on the number, I am trying to remember it from something I read before surgery.
Anyway, it's normal to be in the fence a bit. This is major surgery and a major life change. I can say that I have zero regrets though!

I don't look good in everything, I try to dress for my body type but I think even before I looked ok in some clothes I was made to feel not fit enough to wear. Like probably these leggings. My give a crap meter is busted!

Cute! I also love leggings with boots and a longer sweater or tunic! That will be staple winter wear for me. I was wearing skinny jeans tucked into my boots last year... but I have several pairs of leggings I plan on wearing this year. Wear what makes you feel happy, because I am sure you look great in all of it : )
