    Gastric Sleeve

Day 5 pre op and my gas isn't too bad but are we allowed to take gas x? If so, is that a pill? Cause I tried to take a very tiny sleeping pill and it wasn't able to dissolve in my new tummy till 12 hours later. Gas- X comes in a pill form, chewable tablets, and strips (dissolvable strips). There may also be a liquid formulation. I have heard from other people who have had the sleeve surgery and they say to make sure you bring gas-x with you to the hospital. Haven't had my surgery yet so I am not sure about all the rules myself. I think your fine to take the strips or even the shareable formulation. Hope you feel better!!!????
  2. Hey, don't worry about the response from your mother, I am sure see will come around when she sees how happy and healthy you are becoming. I feel like it would be common for family to not understand, some of my family members didn't exactly get why I want WLS. My brother said "your not even obese!". My bmi is 44 so yea, I am obese! Anyway, if you want this, and thought about all the risks and benefits, then go for it!!!!❗️????
  3. Is anyone else getting surgery on June 1st? I would love to track progress with someone! ????
  4. Hey guys so I know we are supposed to keep carbs really limited, but does that include fruit? I haven't had surgery yet, my surgery date is set for June 1st. and I am trying to lose some more weight before then. I would like to try to eat similar to what is expected post op. I am ok with cutting out bread and simple carbs, but I really love fruit, especially in my protein shakes. Is that ok? Is there a limit to the carb intake per day, like under 40-50 grams? Please let me know. Thank you guys!

    Confused about Carbs...

Thank you guys. I don't want to over plan, but I can't help it. I am surprised I am not skinny from all the worrying I do! Haha! Anyway I will limit it for now and then see what my doctor says. If anyone has anymore advise though, I would be willing to listen!!!

    Confused about Carbs...

Yea my nutritionist is fine with fruit and some carbs. That being said I know I lose a lot more weight when j limit my carb intake. I have my surgery date, but I still have to do my pre-op appointment with my doctor and the dietitian in their office. Hopefully that will give me a better understanding. I just want to make sure there are a few things left that I truly enjoy. ????

    Looking for a buddy

Hey so I am from CT. Sorry I am still trying to figure out how to work this app! Anyway I am really excited and nervous and could use some guidance. I was wondering if fruit was ok to eat (once you can have food again). I know you have to keep carbs limited but I really like to put fruit in my protein shakes and stuff. There is a lot more that I want to know!!!! I hope you are doing well and had an easy recovery and I look forward to getting to know you. Thanks so much! I would love to pick your brain sometime.
  8. Hey guys, I finally got my surgery date, June first, and I am kind of overwhelmed. I am so excited but I don't really have anyone to talk to about this. Also I could use as much advice as someone is willing to dole out. I am looking for a kind friend and mentor, please let me know if you are willing to talk. Thank you!

    Looking for a buddy

Hey I don't know if you are still looking for a buddy, but I would love to talk. I could really use some support and would love a friend to talk to. I am having my surgery on June 1st. My husband isn't overweight so although he is sympathetic, he doesn't really get it. I am 27 years old and, like you I would only really be comfortable with a female buddy. please let me know if you still want to talk.
  11. Hey My date is June first too!!!! I am so excited and a little nervous to be honest. I don't know anyone who has had WLS so I have nothing to compare to or really know what to expect.

    I can't wait... really!

  13. Hey Guys, I am new to the message boards and can really use some guidance. My surgeon's office just submitted my request for VSG surgery to my insurance company (State insurance). How long does it usually take to know if you were approved? I am so nervous and I can't stop thinking about it. I keep running scenario's through my mind about what I should do if I don't get approved. Can you re-submit? I have done everything I was asked to do, and I have been cleared by all the specialist, so I think I have a good chance. What do you guys think? Thank you guys for your help and I am sure I will have a lot more questions.

Thanks I really hope that's the case!!!!
  15. Hey guys so I have done everything required before you get insurance approval and my surgeon just put in for approval on Friday. I am so excited, but also nervous. So know how often people get denied. Should I be worried about that? How long does it normally take to hear back from them?
