  1. Hi hopefully someone can help me. I have Kiaser in southern California I'm scheduled for the Options information session on Wednesday. I was reading through the pamphlet they mailed letting you know the requirements to be a candidate for surgery. I see one of them states that you have to had 6 months of a weight management plan within the last 10yrs. Basically meaning it would have had to been documented by a doctor. Well.... I don't have that, I've only attempted various dieting and exercise on my own. Do you know what I can expect to happen if this the situation? Thanks in advance! Ps: I've attached a pic of the paper where the information is stated its #2
  2. Hi everyone, I had surgery on October 6th and today I am exactly 20 days post op. I could seriously use some help from some of you. I went to my 2 week post op appointment on Thursday October 15th and I was 12 lbs down since surgery (great ????) Then I was upgraded to puree foods. About 3-4 days after that I saw that I gained 4lbs ????????. And I panicked because I haven't heard of this. I hadn't been over eating because you get full quick, I hadn't been eating starch, I have been follow Doctors orders to the T with my protein and water intake. So I began researching and I found out it was some what normal (sigh of relief ????) but I haven't seen those extra lbs come off yet. I can admit I know I may be over thinking it but it's only because I want to do well and use this tool to my best abilities. And yes I'll be talking with my Doctor but until then can someone please shed some light on this. Thanks so much! Sincerely, A sleeve newbie
  3. Hi, I'm a newbie to this and haven't decided which surgery I will do but I would like to know realistically when you returned to work. I work at a very laid back job. I sit in a booth ( not a very small one) enough to stand up move around and stretch. I'm a cashier during graveyard which my shift is super duper slow. I'm trying to figure out how much time I would need away from work considering I don't work a strenuous job yet more relaxed. I know each surgery varies according to the information I researched already but I need y'all help please. What makes recovery most difficult when returning to work?

    Kaiser Permanente Options program

Wow 6 weeks is a long time, I'm not sure about asking Pcp for another location to attend however its shouldn't be a problem I don't think. After all I just think they refer you to the location that's closest

  8. Hello everyone, On Monday I begin my 12 week options classes through Kiaser. As a prerequisite I have to lose 29 pounds. Anyone have a exercise or diet regimen that worked well for them? I know during these classes we will meet with a nutritionist but just asking to see what works. As for dieting I plan to eat clean by eating no processed foods & no rice or pasta. Let me know I have exactly 3 months and I'm gonna need them all lol

    Time off work for recovery

I agree 4 weeks would be too much for me as well considering my job I sit during the whole shift but I'm gonna initially say 4 weeks my jobs time off paper work says I can come back early if I wish as long as I give a days notice. So if I'm ok after a couple of weeks then I'll return. Im absolutely not disclosing what I'm having done. It's none of there business lol
  12. Omg I'm so... Happy to hear all is well you've been on my mind. When do they plan to release you? Congrats on a successful surgery. Keep us posted on your progress

funny you should mention not telling your employer because I don't want to share that information either. Only because I work at a small company and when one person knows something they all know and that's not something I want. I'm gonna have to look into if I have to disclose that information. Because I only wanna share it with "need to know individuals"

    ANY KAISER PERMANENTE SLEEVERS?

body analysis was just where they take a picture of you and officially weigh you in for the first time and then tell you how much weight you have to loose before surgery
  17. Sure! Father in the name of Jesus I come to you on behalf of Brigitte Romanelli. Lord I ask you to to calm every bit of her fears right now. Your word say you didn't give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a strong mind! Lord I ask you to strengthen her for surgery. Touch her mind body and soul. Let her know you are with her even at this very hour. As she prepares for surgery Lord you lead and guide the surgeon so that every thing is done to perfection because you are a perfect God. Touch every one that is assigned to her. Let immeasurable favor be shown towards her. Touch her body before and after this surgery. Jesus do it in a way that Brigette knows it was nobody but you. Lord demonstrate your unfailing love for her. Remind her that you have ALL power in your hand. Lord give your Angeles the authority to watch over and protect her. I take the authority in the name of Jesus and bind any plan of attack from the enemy. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray Amen!
  18. I'm excited today because I attended my first information meeting about bariatric surgery at Kiaser. It was informative however I must say a lot of the information I knew because I been researching on this every time a question pops up in my mind. I go tomorrow to my body analysis appointment where they take a picture and weight you prior to beginning the 12 week options program. I can't believe this is all about to get in motion. As a requirement I have to loose 10% of body weight prior to surgery (29lbs) I actually think that will be the most weight I ever lost. Well just wanted to share my journey so far.

    Excited for change!

I'm ready too! I think doing this program prior to surgery helps educate you, put you in routine for exercise (if your not doing so already), and of course the dieting. Let's go!

    Time off work for recovery

Wow congrats to you both, and thanks for the info. I'm gonna plan to take 2-3 weeks off work if my job should allow it (most likely). I believe I will do what you and your husband did and do lots and lots of walking
  21. Yea! What she said ⬆LOL how are you hum? Hopefully well
  22. Hello everyone. I've joined this site about 2 days ago and its been a blessing to me. I'm very new to the bariatric surgery journey. I had my physical exam a couple of weeks ago and then my PCP referred me to the Bariatric program here at Kiaser in southern California. I've done researching since the referral on what type of surgery l would benefit most from because I was originally gonna do the band and I decided that without knowing little about it. However upon joining this site and reading others experience and did research on my own I feel I would benefit most from the sleeve. I'm pre diabetic and pre high cholesterol with a BMI OF 41 my mother recently died from heart disease at 57 and afterwards I read her medical charts and all of her sickness was contributed to morbid obesity. Sure she was a large woman I see large woman who lives long lives. Out of my own ignorance I was suddenly woken up and realize I needed to be healthier for my son and myself. I've been so excited that I was gonna embark on this life changing journey (nervous but excited, normal right?) Then I began telling my grandmother about me might wanting to do This and she has been against it from the jump! She just know what she heard......mostly complications which we all know there is some risk which I've come to realize it's worth the risk for a healthier life. I don't wanna start pill popping I want to start doing better now and what more better way. Then I told a friend (one who just judge folks and gossip) she was like "omg I can't believe you doing that I'm scared for you" I explained but not very supportive. I told a family member and they were unsupportive. I originally told my bestie but she work with 2 banders and she often tells of them vomiting during work and one is having complication. My bestie is a good friend, she doesn't think I need it but she said she would support me either way, so she may be the only one who knows. She will accompany me on surgery day. Anyways long story short I have no support I wish I wouldn't have even told them but I decided now to not mention it any more, if they ask I'm gonna have them thinking I'm not getting it anymore because I don't want them in my business if they are non supportive. So I'm blessed to have joined this site you all have been helpful in your own way. Just reading others past and current situation has made all the difference. God bless you all

April 22nd is the Big Reset!

I share your pain and pray that God helps you through this, I recently lost my mother in January she died of heart disease she had multiple other illnesses high blood pressure, diabetes, GERD, COPD, ulcer and morbidly obese. We both lived care free lives not putting to much thought into being healthy. After all I knew many of plus size women right? But it took my mother's death and not just that but actually reading her extremely thick medical record for my own wake up call. So here I am determined and often reminded of her as I'm often reminded of health and how hers could of improved had she had a surgery like this. But God knows best. Be encouraged your not alone
